Chapter 25: 25: A new target

Everyone watched in shocked silence as the princess stood up.

She walked toward the other side of the table where the minister's son was sitting and picked him up.

"Princess, what are you doing? M-My son! Let me, son, go."

The minister pleaded, watching his son hanging from the princess's grip.

"Yeah, sure! Here, catch."

The princess threw the young man away before patting the seat she had just emptied.

"Sui, come and sit here. No wait, I don't like it. Go and sit in the space I just vacated. I will sit here."

The princess quickly sat while looking at the minister and the servants.

"What the hell? How can you do something like that to me? And all that for what? Don't you have manne-mufff"

The minister acted quickly, and he quickly quietened his son down.

"I apologize for my son's rude behavior. He's going through a hard phase. O-Of course, you are free to take any seat you want, princess. I will just go to the other side and-"

The princess's eyes narrowed slightly, indicating that the minister had made a mistake.

People jumped back in fright when the princess smacked her fist on the table and gave them all a death glare.

"Are you all testing my patience today? Sui, quickly take the seat before I destroy it. As for this family…I cannot say that I am impressed by your hospitality toward my guard. You did not even prepare a seat for her, much less ask her for drinks."

'H-Huh? How does that make sense? When was the host family required to provide seating for commoner guards? It does not make sense.'

The minister glared at Sui to show that it was all her fault.

There was no rule that the host family needed to look after the guards of their guests as well, but if the guard was noble, then people did make exceptions.

But this guard was neither noble nor someone of importance.

She was just someone the princess had taken a passing fancy to, but unlike the emperor, the princess was fickle and would get bored soon.

Sui understood everything when she looked at Minister Xiao's face and saw the underlying message he was trying to convey.

'Ha, as if I will fall into your trap. Sorry, minister, but you are out on your own here.'

Sui dragged herself to sit in the seat the princess directed her to. She also did not look at the minister or his son while she did.

The minister now had three choices to make.

1. Sit with Sui and lower his reputation

2. Ignore Sui and keep on standing

3. Order the servants to bring in more seats.

It was clear which the minister chose.

"Princess, I will check up on my servants and guards. My servants will keep you company in the meantime."

The minister made a quick exit with his son.

Minister Xiao knew his son well, so he knew what his son was planning to do.

"Son, don't even think about it. Do not try to test the princess's patience, or you will doom our whole family."

The minister warned his son, stressing how important it was for him not to offend the princess. But the minister could tell that his son had not understood the danger he was in.

His son had grown up spoilt, and this showed in his actions.

'This fool! He will ruin everything I've worked hard for just because he cannot control his temper and take a little criticism. What can I do now?'

The minister needed to distract his son so that he would stop focusing so much on the princess. And he knew the exact excuse he could give his son to distract him.

"Son, I know you are angry with the princess, but she is not someone we can touch. However, removing something she keeps by her side is not impossible. We should change our target here."

The minister was crafty and got to his position by winning over his siblings.

He knew what he needed to do to distract his son from focusing on the princess.

"Are you talking about that servant? If so, then I don't want to! Also, isn't that servant a commoner? Why should I spend my time on a commoner anyway?"

'Why is my son deciding to use his brain at the worst time possible? No! Let's calm down and think this over.'

"So, you want to go after the princess? Not only will the Imperial guards rip you to read, but they will take your nobility away from you. It will be better to take revenge in smaller ways."

Minister Xiao smirked once he noticed the look on his son's face.

"I understand. I need to prepare for tomorrow. Father, I will count on you for any leftover work."

Minister watched his foolish son quickly making his way out.

He could only shake his head at the chaos that was about to occur.

"It's a good thing I do not favor my son often. If things don't go our way, I might need to throw him away."

The minister sighed before deciding to go back and suck up to the princess.

Meanwhile, Sui rubbed her palms together nervously while waiting for the minister and his son to return.

The princess had not said anything this whole while and had not touched the food either.

Sui wanted to ask the princess why she had thrown Minister Xiao's son out of his seat and given it to Sui, but she did not dare open her mouth.

"That old man sure is taking his time. Do you think I should break something to attract his attention?"

The princess asked while getting ready to smash the plate.

The maids quickly took shelter to avoid becoming a target for the princess's anger.

While everyone else was busy taking shelter, Sui's eyes caught a hint of red on the princess's fingertips, and her blood ran cold.

"Princess, you must stop right now, or you will hurt yourself. How about letting your anger go this time? I also need to check if you are bleeding or not."

Sui quickly acted and grabbed the princess's hand to pry the bone china out of it.
