Chapter 3: Fight with an esper
Seeing as the bandits are satisfied with the loot they got from the adventurers the bandit leader tells them to head back to camp.
Mizuki follows them from the trees.
'This might end up as a good hunt.'

After about 3 hours of following them Mizuki finally saw their camp.
'Finally here. Three hours of my life wasted.'
The group returned to the camp and they all returned to their tents. The one that Mizuki guessed to be the bandit leader went inside the biggest tent.
Mizuki sneaked in from the back of the camp and started to eavesdrop on what was going on.
She heard a man talking to a woman.
"... - party. What we got from them is some silver and copper coins and a few good pieces of equipment. Our losses amount to two Lv 4s and one Lv 5." said the man.
"So we didn't lose anything that important. Good. Thank you for the report. You may go." said the female.
"Got it boss. Tell me if you need anything more."
"I will. Now go get some rest."
Mizuki then heard the man leave and followed. That man was her main target after all.
"So the guy wasn't the boss but it was that woman. Interesting. She might just be a higher Lv than the pyro guy which means she is better prey than him."
Within the 4 days of hunting Mizukis mindset has changed ever so slightly. When before she would throw up at the sight of a dissoving animal now she does not even blink when talking about death. It seems as though her heart has become a monsters as well as her body.
But this did not bother her. Anything is worth sacrificeing in the name of reaching her goal.
Mizuki followed the man that seemed to be going to use the bathroom. The bathroom being a bush at the side of camp.
Mizuki came in behind him and striked.
'[Assassination]'
What the skill [Assassination] did was increase damage dealt by 20% and give a 1% chance to instantly kill when attacking an unsuspecting target.
Mizuki jumped and lached on to the mans neck and started to dissolve it starting with the vocal cords.
"AAHhh.."
The man quickly stopped his scream halfway. His neck was mostly dissolved exept for the bone.
He was extremely suprised to get attacked by a slime while taking a p*ss but he quickly got over it due to the pain.
He lighted his body on fire with what Mizuki guessed to be [Pyrokinesis].
Mizuki was losing HP fast as this kind of attack was neither Physical nor Magical.
But the guy Mizuki was attacking was losing his HP faster.
After a mere 4 seconds of struggle the man died and the flames were instantly put out.
Mizuki received a few notifications.

'Oh? Stat growth increase? It should be better than [Slight Agility Increase] that increased my agility by 20% then. But they can synergize well.'
Mizuki then started to devour the heart to try to get the [Pyrokinesis] ability. She did not receive it.
'Maybe instead of the heart it's inside the head?'
Thinking so she decided to devour the head along with the entire upper body. Only leaving a pair of legs in the bushes.
Mizuki then got another notification.
[You have gained the special ability [Pyrokinesis] by absorbing the remains of an esper.]
Seeing this she gleamed in happiness and opened the status window.

Trying to [Inspect] the phrase 'esper specific ability' she found out that about 7% of humanoid entities (humans, elves, dwarves, demons, fairies and angels) are born as espers. Every esper receives a single special ability that does not use mana. More than one ability has never been recorded and most likely never will due to humanoids weak internal organs. As special abilities take form inside the brain more than 1 will most likely make the brain explode.
Understanding that she might be the only monster who has a special ability she became interested in the strongest being in this world. But only for a moment as something more important was crossed her mind.
"One more Lv."
"As the man called that woman in the tent 'boss' she should be higher Lv than the man, maybe even me. Killing her would surely give me the experience points needed to Lv up."
"And with my [Pyrokinesis] I should be able to put up a rather good fight if she is an esper."
Mizuki then sneaked towards the tent where the 'boss' was at. She slightly oushed the curtain that acted as a door aside and used [Inspect].

"After sending him to get some rest I started looking through the files on my desk whitch had a few names on them."
"The names were the big shots within the adventurers guild. I will kill them all for what they did to my family. I do not care that they did not play a hand in it. They still paid a part in actually recruiting a bunch of monsters in human skin."
"Suddenly I saw the curtain that was acting as a door move a little. I guessed it to be the wind as I looked up slightly."
"A.. Slime?"
"What I saw suprised me."
"What is a slime doing here."
"Using [Inspect] I started to feel a slight tinge of fear."
