Artifact Seekers

Hundreds of years ago the old kingdoms summoned heroes with the help of the gods to push back against the demonic invasion of their world. The heroes, using their vast powers, achieved victory over the demons. But the kings, having witnessed the heroes' power decided to rebel against the very gods they once worshipped using the heroes as their greatest weapon. Their war tore the world asunder, ending with kingdoms fallen, heroes dead, and the gods abandoning the world out of pride and spite.

So much knowledge was lost and forgotten due to the war causing the people living in the nightmare it created to consider any old item with enchantment to be a powerful artifact, valued almost to the point of worship. This is the story of the war that was passed from father to child, but is true? did the heroes all die? did the kingdoms fall? and did the gods turn their back on the world out of pride?
