A global writing competition hosted by Lightpens was held on December 10th of the year 2023. Authors from all over the world competed for a $250,000 cash prize.

Rex Barrel, an aspiring author who was deaf, sought out this opportunity to escape his life of being tramped upon and gain funds for his coma-induced guardian's treatment.

Sadly, a publishing error caused the story he'd poured his heart into to miss the deadline. In a state of delirium, the young man cursed the world and his life before collapsing and losing consciousness.

When he awoke, he found that everything had changed.

Darkness had completely covered the earth. Throughout the continents and cities, portals linking different worlds and dimensions appeared.

The world began its path to the end as other races and monsters entered. Their worlds too were suffering from invasion just as the earth was.

In the midst of chaos and destruction, factions formed among humans who had awakened special abilities.
