You think what Remi did to Olive was bad. That's not even close to what Luke's capable of. I don't want them feeding off each other's darkness."

"What if they're not? What if they actually are good for each other and are trying to help each other get to a better place?"

"Then I'd be happy. I love them both. Luke and I have a history, and I know everyone thinks I hate him and hold a grudge, but I still care about him. He's my best friend, besides Anton."

Wrapping her arms around him, Poppy smiled up at Roman with all the kindness and understanding she could give. "You need to let her be an adult, Roman. And Luke too. You can't always protect everyone."

"I know, but I can try."
