Chapter 25: The Bone dragon

The insects turned their attention to Finn and much like regular insects, they flew in on what drew their attention. With their size nearly dwarfing Finn's, it was a frightening thing to behold. But Finn oddly this time was unfazed.

His red and golden eyes began to glow fiercely and his arms trembled in anger. His veins down to his neck pulsated with a red and golden glow. It was like his body was made of two constituents.

As the first insect flew close to him, he was ready this time. The rage he felt was nothing like before. Seeing his past bodies being fed on by filthy-smelling insects kicked something inside of him. He had completely lost all sense of reasoning and all he wanted to do now more than ever was kill every last one of these bugs.

"Come on!!! I'll pile all your torn bodies like mine over there!!!"Finn screamed aloud in anger.

The first insect approached him, flying with its mandibles stretched out wide open. But Finn was ready with his sharp extended claws. All the while, he never thought of fighting back except now.

The insect swooped in but Finn was ready to slash its belly wild open with his claws. But just as he swung his claws, it had been caught leaving him wide open to the insect's attack.

When he looked at what had caught his hand from swiping his claws and taking out his anger on the pests, he saw a face that resembled his. The demon had followed him even up till that point. But not just any demon, the same demon he had stabbed with his bone in the heart.

His hand was held in the demon's hand. He flinched on seeing for himself how bare the demon looked all while still wearing his face. He was getting ready to swipe his other free claws and get rid of the demon holding him when he suddenly felt everything getting lower. The ground was getting closer and closer to his face until it finally hit him right in the face.

What had really happened was that his head had been chopped off by the insect's mandible. It had fallen on the ground and rolled around like an empty can. Now with his eyes still open, but vision fading fast, the last thing he saw was the demon holding a handful of his guts that had been gotten from ripping his stomach and eating it. As for the rest of his body, he watched as the insects lifted it in joint accord, flew with it and dropped it on top of the pile of numerous other bodies he had used.

-How can this be? Why is every conceivable evil that I have ever feared would befall me happening all at once to me? What is this torture? Surely this can't be real.... this is...-Finn ended up not finishing his thoughts as his eyes slowly blacked out. He had died, again.

----------

His eyes opened again and he found himself laying with his head attached to his body. He heard numerous buzzing sounds around him and when he took a look, he found himself sitting upon a mountain of bones.

The once large horde of bodies that he once was the owner of had been reduced to bones. The insects made their way to him as he was the only body with flesh left.

They made disturbing sounds at him. Each time they opened their mandibles, Finn could smell the stench of death oozing from them. They looked different to how they looked before.

They were bigger and more intimidating. But Finn was equally more intimidating as he stood up at that moment with the skull of one of his previous bodies secured in his hand. He clutched tightly to it as he watched the lazy insects fly up to meet him. He was saved for last, the main course.

-I initially thought I was dead. Everything in here felt like it. But then as time passed by, I thought perhaps I was in hell. But knowing the kind of person I am, I have come to only one conclusion. Hell cannot be as tormenting as this. No, not even the devil can think up such ways to torture a soul. There's only one being capable of thinking up such sadistic thoughts, Me. This isn't hell, this is a nightmare. A very dark nightmare that I'm powerless against as long as I bend to the rules. But what if I don't? After all, nightmares are broken dreams. But one can control their dreams. All that has happened in here, all these tortures, I am the cause. The woes that have befallen me here are a construct of my own consciousness. My fears have been fed directly to me. But not anymore, for I have become lucid- Finn said with a smile stretching across his face just like the one on the demons he encountered.

The skull in his hand was crushed to bits and turned into dust. Once again, his eyes began to glow red and gold. He placed his two hands out and held them in place while standing on top of the mountain of bones.

Something strange began to happen as irregular outlines began to appear on his body. Three black circles appeared on both arms that were outstretched and a bright blue light began to emit from them.

His hands began to glow blue as a blue ball of pure energy was growing in his hand. This energy ball continued to grow until it got to the size of a basketball. He held it out and the energy shot like a beam.

It travelled at once and pierced an insect from the head all the way to the round abdomen. It had burned through this insect and continued.

"Kikikihahahahahah" Finn laughed like a maniac and continued. He blasted every single insect without a scratch being set on him. He saw the demon down below him and had wasted no time in blasting it too. And much like the insect, the demon burnt and disappeared into dust.

By the time he was done, he fell down on top of the mountain of bones covered in black goo. This was the liquid content spewed from the insects he had slain.

-There has to be a way out. But with the knowledge I have now, I don't think I'm in a hurry to go back. There is some unfinished business I must handle- Finn thought with a smirk.

He stood on top of the bones and now staring far ahead, he could see another light beating to the rhythm of his heartbeat. He looked down to see the pile of bones he stood on, and all of a sudden, they all began to shake.

Each bone moved on its own and began to merge forming something. When it was done, Finn was standing on the back of a bone dragon. The wings spread apart wide-reaching a far distance.

He sat on the bone dragon which had numerous human skulls for its head, a hollow space made for eyeballs and human limbs fixed in its jaws for teeth. Spikes ran from the lower back to its tail. And with Finn on the back, the dragon flapped its bone wings and took to space.

It flew straight to one destination, where there was light. And as it approached the light, each bone began to fall off. The bone dragon was losing its form. Finn had no choice but to jump off and landed on the ground. No matter, he was near the light.

"It is time I turn this nightmare into a dream, "Finn said as he walked into the light with a smile. He ended up at the other end and when he opened his eyes, a slight smirk was on his face as he liked where he had been transported to.

"Hello god, mind finishing that story of yours?"Finn said as he stood in a place that was completely white while he stared at a glowing light.
