Standing on a raised platform in front of an angled, triple mirror, I couldn't keep the discontented frown off my face. Yet another bolt of fabric was brought up to me and draped over my shoulder.
Today's Mating Event was a trip to town. Lord Alecai had, of course, been my partner. He'd insisted on taking me to Sylvanna's, the best dress shop in town. We'd had to wait in line behind several other participants. It appeared that everyone made a beeline for this shop as soon as we were paired up. After waiting an hour in line, we were finally shown into the small store. I'd been standing here like a mannequin since. Behind me was a growing pile of reject fabrics and in front of me, through the windows of the store, I saw the line was growing impatient.
"How is this one, my Lord?" the frazzled shop assistant asked Lord Alecai.
Hi Everyone!
I am so excited about how much everyone is enjoying this novel! I can't stop smiling. I hope I didn't cross a line with this chapter. A friend of mine gave it a read and said it was good, so I really don't know.
Anyway, thank you so much for reading and voting and adding to your collections. I appreciate you.
