Chapter 10: Ego: Greed
Both Teams had their starters lined up with their captains' side by side, till now Yufeng had been using their B team and giving them a chance against first youth team players of other academies, now it was time for the main team to step up, the only team rumored to be able to rival Daitech B team, as beating the A team was a pipe dream even for a team stacked like this one. Following the coin toss, it was decided that Yufeng would start so Asura selected their side of the field and both teams got into position with Chrono standing over the ball with a bored look on his face.
Chrono: (No auras) Do whatever you want cap, there aren't any interesting guys here
Chrono passed the ball straight to Sae without moving a step from the spot he stood, Sae sent a through ball for Hanzo who picked it up and burst down his side of the field immediately breaking past Xu Ron just for the Asura number 7 to tail him perfectly cutting off the option to slow down for a cross. Pisu and Ai Xu moved in to block off Any potential break-in points Hanzo could have, his speed was cut off as soon as he tried to use it.
Hanzo forced a pass back to wards Chrono yet before the ball met its mark Yuga ran Past Chrono using the heel of his trailing leg to flick the ball over Chrono to Garreth who had made his run. Garreth didn't bother with control and lay the ball off to the side for Longwei who made his way down the left side dribbling towards Sae's right side with Adam trying to outmuscle him. Longwei and Adam clashed bodies with Longwei ending up on the losing side so Adam got the ball and lay it off to Sae who then sent the ball back to Riccardo.
Yuga: {stops running} (what the hell??)
Garreth: {begins tracking back} (Weird)
Longwei: {shakes off hit, begins tracking back, and says to Yuga} trackback you lazy shit
Yeongha: {frowns subtly with an eyebrow raised} oh?? (It seems our Ace is starting to get a little too confident in his abilities if he's try to cut someone like Yuga out of the team)
Riccardo didn't give Team Asura time to react at all as he cleared the ball towards Chrono; Chrono turns sharply and traps the ball on his left thigh before letting it drop and crossing the ball once more towards the left edge of the Asura box 18.
The ball dropped behind Mo Xu who tried to turn and collect it but Sora outpaced him mid-turn and got to the ball, upon the first touch he sent a slight through ball for Antonio who was at his immediate right towards the center of the box and Antonio rushed for it with the Bai Lee already rushing out to sweep the ball.
Antonio got to the ball before Bai Lee but Li Tantai managed to also get there and went in for a sliding challenge from his right; Antonio unflinchingly backheeled the ball and Sora got the ball back dribbling towards the Right side of the ball with the only person in his way being Pisu Yang.
Sora performed successive rapid step-overs and attempted to break right just for Pisu to guard him perfectly, just as Pisu was about to get the ball Sora chipped the ball over Pisu and ran past Pisu before shooting the ball on first contact, Pisu managed to get a foot on it guiding the shot onto the bar which the bounced towards the outer circle of the box 18 where Chrono was rapidly approaching for a shot himself.
As Chrono got there he suddenly performed a rainbow flick and Longwei slid below his skill, Chrono was then met with Garreth when he landed and approached with short dribbles. Garreth moved to cover left and Chrono broke right just for Longwei to come from behind Garreth to cover the right; Chrono pushed once more waiting for a slight gap to open between the two and shot as soon as it did only for it to bounce off of Li Tantai's calf after he ran back to block the shot.
The ball flew over to Yuga at the right edge of Asura's box 18 and Yuga cleared the ball up towards the far left side of the field where Xu Ron was making his run with an unnatural amount of space. Yuga, Garreth, and Longwei then began sprinting forward after Xu Ron who slowed the pace as he made his way toward the Yufeng high school goal down the left flank. Before Xu Ron got too far both John and Marcus caught up from behind and now ran on pace with Xu Ron be it at a slight distance.
Xu Ron: (I can still cross, they can't touch me or they'll lose pace so I'll hold for a few seconds an-)
Before Xu Ron could complete the thought John went in for a tackle and Xu Ron perform a backheel cut to fake him out and dribble in. Xu Ron advanced toward goal though Marcus was now clashing shoulders with the Asura number 7, he rolled the ball left with his left foot drawing a right-footed challenge from Marcus before cutting back left in a sharp motion, beating his mark and opening a space on the Left edge of the 18-yard box for himself. Riccardo and Sae were trying to close in on Xu Ron but were still too far to be of influence on his choice; Xu Ron got to the edge of the box and shot with his right foot curving it outwards as it sped at goal, just before it curved into the top right corner Lucas punched it up and out of bounds with both fists making it Team Asura's corner coming in from the right-hand side after which Longwei ran up to Xu Ron and grabbed his shirt in anger.
Longwei: What the hell are you doing now?! We have a match to win, It's not time for your stupid field testing
Xu Ron: {stares blankly for a few seconds before suddenly laughing}
Longwei: And what the hell is so funny?!?!
Xu Ron: Your pride almost cost us a goal and your complaining when I almost scored and even got us a corner {grabs both of Longwei's wrists before staring him dead in the eye} ain't that a bit arrogant of ya??
Longwei: What the hell does that have to do with the fact that if you had passed like the fucking tool you are I would have gotten that goal myself!!!
Xu Ron: 15 minutes
Longwei: What are y-
Xu Ron: For 15 minutes I will do nothing but give the ball to you, if you don't manage to score, get the hell off this field and when you end up not being able to get a shot on goal { shoves Longwei off and walks away} Just fucking retire like the goal allergic forward you fucking are
Longwei: You fuck-
Referee: {blows the whistle and goes up to Longwei with a Yellow card raised}
Longwei: {face loses color} Y-your kidding me right?? You ca-
Yuga: {pulls Longwei away and whispers in ear} I don't care if you try to boycott me from this game but so help me if we lose Because of your bullshit I won't need to deal with you, the coach will tear up your contract himself {lets Longwei go} This is the winter cup so get your head screwed on right
Both teams gathered in the Yufeng box 18, it was a corner from the right side and Garreth was to take the corner, he whipped the ball with an outside curve into the 6-yard box where Longwei, Pisu, and Tantai were struggling for space trying to outmuscle their marks being John, Riccardo, and Marcus respectively, Jaden hovered at the further most bar while the keeper stayed on the bar closest to Garreth.
Garreth: (Where do I eve-)
Garreth passes to the side where Yuga suddenly ran up to and crossed the ball into the 18. The ball floated at hip level, Pisu muscled away from his mark and redirected the ball towards Jaden catching both Him and the Yufeng goalie off guard, Jaden tried to rush out to clear the ball but was once again surprised when another player was already in line for a volley, Luo Ji. The Asura number 12 fired a powerful volley that had everything done perfectly just for Riccardo to throw himself in the way and manage to barely get a foot on it, redirecting the ball to Jaden who cleared it out unhesitantly.
The ball drifted to an open area near the right edge of the box 18, Xu Ron got the ball and Longwei made space for himself near the left side, Xu Ron sent a through ball his way just for a black aura to rush past Xu Ron to take the shot when the ball hadn't gotten to Longwei yet since Jaden was getting into position to block a shot from Longwei he couldn't react to the other player's shot in time. Both Longwei and Xu Ron were shocked to see the Player in the Zone, Yuga, with his eyes glowing white. Yuga drove the shot towards the top right corner of the post sinking Asura's first goal, after which Yuga left the Zone state and his eyes returned to normal.
Yuga: (It seems all I had to do was use it in short bursts) {pumps both hands with a wide grin} Hell yeah!!!
Almost everyone ran up to celebrate with Yuga, the only exceptions being Pisu who was catching his breath, and Longwei who stared at Yuga with a pale distraught expression, especially when he saw that Garreth was the first one to Jump on Yuga with a grin plastered on his face.
Longwei: {Walks back to starting position with disbelief and betrayal written on his face} (In the end he took Garreth from me anyway) {Grits teeth with head lowered}
Yeongha: (It seems that Yuga brat couldn't help but take some of the spotlight for himself} What will you do now Longwei??
