Chapter 8: New Identity
" You mean that assassin was sent by the imperial family!" Oscar was in shock after hearing the truth from Dave. He now did not doubt Dave being a transmigrator and completely believed his story.
" Yeah, he was sent by the people who summoned me here," Dave replied. He knew that he can not hide the fact that some people were after his life anymore, now that Oscar has seen him kill that assassin.
There was an awkward silence between them until Dave spoke up.
" If you have nothing else to ask, can I leave? If you want me to leave this job then I have no problem." Dave spoke as he got up and was about to leave Oscar's office.
"...Um, Wait" Oscar stopped Dave in a dissuasive tone and then added, " I think, I might be able to help you so that they will not send more assassins after you."
What Oscar said made Dave stop, and he turned back to listen but there was one doubt in his mind. Can he trust Oscar?
" How?" Despite the doubts, he asked.
" How about we fake your death? We would say someone caused a blast in which we found you and that assassin dead. We can forge a new identity for you, and I can help you leave the capital. You can work in another branch of our guild." Oscar explained.
Everything made sense but why was Oscar trying to help when he knew that he would be making enemies with the empire?
" I want to know what is your motive for helping me. You do know that the people who are sending assassins after me are from the imperial family." Dave asked.
" I know, but who said we can't make a fool out of them even if they are an imperial family? The fact that you are alive after that blast is only known by you and me, we will make them think that the assassin they sent had been successful." Oscar explained and then added, " Besides, I think you are even more useful. To be able to kill an assassin raised by the imperial family and to have the skill to Appraise anything is much more valuable than you think."
In the end, Dave had no other option, and even if Oscar betrays him then it won't be any different from his current situation.

For two months straight Dave lived in hiding as per the instructions given to him by Oscar. He spent most of his time learning the language of this world and now he was able to read and write to some degree. Though, He was still having a hard time speaking this language because it was much more difficult than the languages he had learned back on earth.
" Show status window!" Dave spoke and a status window appeared in front of him.

Overall his stats are a big disappointment because he didn't have any ' Class'. He was unable to level up like others and needed something like a level of stone.
He had thought of using his [ Mark Of Death] skill but he didn't because he didn't want to expose this skill to Oscar who kept on asking him to reveal his secrets. Oscar wanted to benefit from Dave as much as possible so it was better to keep some secrets.
Someone like Oscar will easily be able to sense the change in someone's power and he didn't want to explain anything about the sudden change.
There was also a new skill unlocked in the skill book that he received after surviving the battle. Even though it was a very useful skill compared to most of the skills he had, he didn't want to choose that.
The name of the skill was [ Iron Dagger], apart from learning how to use the basics of the dagger arts there was one other requirement that could unlock this skill which was the same for other skills in the same category. The other requirement was that he had to win against a stronger opponent using a particular weapon. Since he had a knife at that time and won a fight against a stronger dagger user he was able to fulfill that requirement and gain this skill.
He wanted one of the skills from this category but that was in the past, now he only had one slot and he wanted something better. Like the [ Regeneration] or [ Immortal Body] skill which are much more beneficial for him. However, the requirements to gain such a type of skill were insanely difficult.
For Regeneration, one must drink the elixir of life, which Dave didn't even know anything about. For Immortal Body, one must cultivate it for thousands of years in solitude.
In the end, he chooses to wait before making further progress.

" Let me introduce you to everyone who will escort you to our other branch," Oscar spoke to Dave.
The day when he will leave this place has finally arrived, Oscar had arranged for everything and was currently introducing him to the people who had agreed to escort him safely.
" They are a party called Grey Wolves, The one with grey hair is the leader, Conan, an A-rank adventurer. The other two are Max and Roy, both of them are B-rank mercenaries." Oscar introduced the people.
Conan who was the leader had grey hair and a fashionable beard, on his back, there were two axes. He has a physique similar to Oscar's but his skin was white.
The other two Roy and Max were the same age as him, they both had brown hair and almost looked identical. Dave assumed that they were brothers or twins, the only thing different was the weapon they used.
" This boy is the one you will be escorting today, his name is Jin." Oscar introduced Dave with a fake name and even gave him an identity card with the same name.
" Nice to meet you Jin, I will make sure that you safely reach the city of Luxor." The Leader of the Grey wolf offered a handshake.
" I will be in your care," Dave spoke.
