Chapter 1: A Weird System?
It had been a week since Lin Zhi had arrived into this... weird world.
To describe it 'weird' might be an understatement but it was the quickest way to generalize the place he had been sent into.
Lin Zhi quickly bowed as the automatic door slid open. "Welcome!"
"Excuse me, where do you sell toilet paper?"
In front of Lin Zhi, stood a bald man in a weird hero costume. Without breaking his forced smile, Lin Zhi pointed at an area opposite to him. "It's over there."
"Ah, thank you." The caped baldy nodded before heading towards where the toiletry section was located.
The door slid open again as Lin Zhi quickly bowed again. "Welcome!"
This time, a teenager with spikey brown hair wearing a familiar uniformed walked in.
Walking up to Lin Zhi with a pervy expression, his eyes darted around as if trying to scout out the convenience store.
"Hey, did any new magazines come in?" The teenager's eyes shined with a glint of excitement as he whispered.
"Yes."
"Thanks."
As Lin Zhi returned to stocking the items behind the counter, the ringer sounded again.
"Welcome!" He greeted under the counter as he restocked.
This time, a bubbly voice called out. "Did the latest edition of 'Pro Heroes' come out? I can't wait to see the Hero Rankings! I hope All Might is still first..."
Without even bother to reply, Lin Zhi grabbed the latest edition of the 'Pro Heroes' magazine and put it on top of the counter for the excited green-haired teenager. He knew who it was and trusted him enough to not run away with it.
This was the current life of Lin Zhi. A transmigrator from another world where the supernatural didn't exist.
Generally speaking, when a transmigrator goes into an anime world, it'd be based in one 'anime'... But this wasn't the case for Lin Zhi!
There was too much anime mixed together in this world!
One-Punch Man, My Hero Academia, High School DxD, Railgun, Ajin, there was too much to even count!
Luckily for Lin Zhi, his current body had an identity so he didn't have to talk to the immigration officers...
Lin Zhi. Age 16. A student at Kuoh Academy.
Of course, he's not actually 16. Back in his original world, he was a 20-year-old college student with no girlfriend or job...
'But that's not the point!'
The point is that he has to redo years of education!
And it was High School!
In Kuoh Academy of all places!
'That means I'm in the devil's home ground!'
Actually, when he first came into this world, he had thought about allying himself with the powerful figures in this world such as Saitama, Tatsumaki, All Might, Sirzechs, Rias, Misaka Mikoto, Accelerator, and the like, but then he realized something important...
They were all magnets for trouble!
Saitama has this unnatural aura that attracts threats above Demon-level, All Might has many villains after him, Misaka with her personality...
If he wasn't careful, he could easily die with a snap of their fingers! He'd be listed under collateral damage in the next newspaper!
This wouldn't even be an issue had his System been slightly more useful!
'All it can do is tell the time!'

Shouldn't his System have some form of 'Starter Pack' or something?

Lin Zhi couldn't help but let out a sigh.

"Huh?!" Lin Zhi fell on his back, scattering the goods all over the floor in shock.

'A trope?' He couldn't help but ask. Weren't the Systems of other novels more 'generalized'? How come his was so specific?

'Finally!' He jumped up in excitement, attracting weird gazes from the customers in the convenience store. Missions are the gateway to becoming more powerful in this world, who doesn't want to secure a foothold in a world like this?

You are, however, allowed basic gestures such as pointing, nodding, and the like. Do not try to find a loophole or else you will be punished as per severity.]

'So I'm essentially an 'actor'?'

'What is the 'Badass Grunt' trope?' Lin Zhi asked, hoping to better understand his 'role' in the upcoming mission. He already has an idea of what it means, but it doesn't hurt to know more.
[Definition: Movies, anime, cartoons, even books have an unspoken (or in some cases, explicitly stated) fighting power curve where the hero and villain are at or near the top. The grunts? The mobs? The bystanders? They're waaaay down there at the bottom!
Except for this guy. The Badass Nobody is a background or minor character who shows significant or surprising fighting prowess or strength against a major threat. Whether it's a doddering old man beating a Chromatic Dragon, a salaryman going toe to claw with a werewolf, or even an unknown pilot defeating a Gundam!]
'I see...'
"So I'm going to the past and whatever I do will affect the present? Does this mean I can even get missions for One Punch Man and even My Hero Academia?"
[Yes and Yes.]
[Commencing mission...]
"Wait! What about my starter package?!"
Before he knew it, Lin Zhi blacked out.
