Chapter 56: Chapter 52: Manipulation

I tried to read the blurb to give me an overview of what it's about.

I'm still at the very first line when my phone started ringing.

"Gulu, I'm surprised you called."

"The Commander ordered me to confirm to you if the leader of the Battalion is dead."

My movements suddenly slowed down as I contemplated whether I should tell him the truth or not.

"Is Istradamos dead, Rathna?"

Gulu's question echoed and hung inside my mind giving me a headache.

After a long uncomfortable silence, I replied. "Yes, he's one of the people who died in the incident."

Even if they check the list of people who died in the fire, it'll be hard. Identifying the bodies was almost next to impossible because of what the fire did.

And even if the Chief investigates it, it'll take at least a week to fully identify those people.
