Chapter 51: Chapter 51

"Mommy!" The girl called as she ran towards the pair which Alex assumed must be her parents but seeing the woman before her had made her frozen in her seat.

Alex did not expect her to be here after all these years. What was she doing here anyway? She was not the type of woman who would go to a place like this. She was the complete opposite of her.

A diva...

In high school, she was this popular girl who would always get everyone's attention the moment she walked in the hallways. Boys drooled over her. Having that slim body, perfectly round breasts and curved ass matched with a tight tummy, she was perfect. Her plump red lips with long gorgeous black straight hair and blue eyes, a combination of her French and Filipino parents.

She was like Snow White come to life. Her eyelashes were so thick and long that most women envied her.

Her name was Elaine Broziner.

The brat.

The bully.

Her rival and enemy.

'What the hell was she doing here?' Alex annoyingly thought as her face forced a smile when the woman walked towards her.

"Alex? Is that you?" asked Elaine as she tried to recognize her by narrowing her eyes at Alex.

Alex smiled forcibly.

"Well, I'll be damned. It's been what? Ages since I saw you, Alex. Where is your gay lover?" Elaine asked as she smiled devilishly to her.

'After all these years, she is still a b-ch!' she thought as she stared at Elaine, eyes piercing.

"I'm sorry, Alex. Don't mind my stupid mouth. I'm just surprised to see you here of all places," she commented with a smirk.

God forgive her but she wanted to scrunch this woman's face into pieces with her fists.

But instead, she smiled sweetly as her eyes swept over the woman. This was not the same woman Miguel had cheated on with her when they were still together in high school. Though the bitchy personality was still there, the perfect slim body she once had was now a bit curvy and her once perky and round breasts, had now sagged a bit.

If Elaine used to wear a crop top and showing her beautiful stomach, now it was hidden from that grey t-shirt and slightly fitted pants.

She wondered now what the hell happened to her after all these years.

The balding man in his forties stood beside Elaine whom she presumed her husband. He was an epitome of a man who had money by the way he dressed and yet, not as what she expected him to be.

Now she remembered the Crainshaw family. Alex tried not to laugh as she stared at them. She knew the man was nice and yet, she could not stopped herself from showing a winning smile.

One that mocked Elaine.

"You must know my husband, Oscar Crainshaw. He was the-"

"President of Crainshaw Advertising. I know," finished Alex.

"Oh..." and Elaine smirked. "Oh I forgot! You used to be a model. So how was that going for you?"

"Not a model anymore."

"Right... I guess everyone changed after high school. Perhaps you're married now, right?"

"Not yet, but she is engaged," Toni suddenly replied which made everyone's head turned towards her. Alex smiled inwardly as she saw how Toni's eyebrows raised towards this woman. Somehow she was thankful that her friend was there and it added confidence to her.

"And to whom it might be? Not Miguel?"

"Thank God, no! Can you imagine? My gorgeous self would pitily go and marry a guy like him? No. I have more dignity than that," Alex managed to say. She would never let this woman belittle her again.

Years have toughened her up and the way this bitch looked like, she assumed that Elaine only married this guy for the money.

In which she was not surprised.

Fame and money had always been Elaine's motivation to get ahead.

That made Alex looked at her pitily as Oscar placed his hand over his wife's shoulders. The woman, on the other hand, cringed at a simple touch. She could tell how much Elaine despised her husband.

"Hey yo, campers!" called Michael as they walked towards them. "Is it done, honey?"

Elaine eyed Michael and Robbie as they walked towards their sweethearts. Michael went to Toni and wrapped his hands around her waist. Robbie, on the other hand, creased his eyebrows as he recognized the woman and the man standing in front of Alex.

"Oscar? Oscar Crainshaw?" asked Robbie. "I didn't know you camped here, too."

"Robbie, my man! How are you?"

Amazingly, Oscar gave Robbie his hand and the latter took it smiling. She knew Robbie was just being polite but inwardly, he was cringing by how Oscar tried to feel close to him.

"Robbie... nice to see you again," the former bitch had now become a sweetheart which made Alex cringed.

"Elaine? Is that you? I didn't know you got married."

"Yes, I did. Six years ago."

"I see.. You remembered, Alex, right?" and Robbie went to her. He wrapped his hands around her waist.

Suddenly the happy face of Elaine turned sour upon seeing how Robbie became affectionate to Alex.

"Are you... together?" she asked as her eyes sourly watched Alex who grinned at her.

"Surprised?" mocked Alex.

Elaine smiled faintly.

"Wow! This is a surprise. But is it true, too, that you got a child?" Oscar asked.

"Yes. It's Sasha," and he pointed to the girl who was happily playing with Viola writing on the dirt with a stick. "That's my daughter."

"That's amazing. Your daughter and mine looked happy playing together," commented Oscar.

"I'm glad," Robbie replied simply. "How long have you been staying here?"

"Oh, we just came this morning and thought maybe tried some camp activities first before exploring outside the campsite. I'm happy to see you here, Robbie."

"Me too."

Silence as each stared to the people in front of them. Alex and Elaine specifically stared at each other during the sudden silence. Their eyes told of a secret war where the only weapons they had was the deathly stares they give each other.

Oscar cleared his throat as he felt a sudden uneasiness in the way the two ladies stared at each other.

"We will be leaving for now. We'll see you around," Oscar said and waved his hand goodbye. Elaine, on the other hand, frowned as her eyes swtiched from Robbie to Alex. Her distaste was evident as they slowly turned their backs and walked away.

"Let's go Viola!" Elaine called her daughter with a rather startling nagging voice that startled the girl.

"I got to go. Bye, Sasha."

"Bye," Sasha waved her hand. The girl, in turn, gave her a big hug.

Alex could not help but feel sad. The girl seemed nice and yet, she just could not stand being in the same place with her mother.

Robbie pulled Alex closer to him as soon as the family left.

"Alex... I'm sorry," and he kissed her cheek.

Alex smiled and replied, "I'm sorry, too."

"Can we skip boating? I just want to spend time with you alone."

Alex's breath hitched as she imagined herself being alone with Robbie again and her cheeks felt hot.

"What are you planning?"

He grinned.

A plan formed in his mind but he didn't dare tell Alex so it was not ruined.

"Just follow my lead."

"What about Sasha?"

"Michael and Toni can take care of her while we're gone."

"Now you're making me nervous," Alex blurted out.

"Good."

Their eyes met as they both smiled.

Now she wondered what could be in stored for her. Despite of the oddities that happened a long time ago, seeing Elaine and arguing over some past issues, she was delighted to know that somehow she would be able to spend time with him... alone.

Maybe they could use this time to understand what they really felt for each other.

Maybe... she could finally tell him...

That she loved him despite of the uncertainties..
