Really great read!! Very dark and visceral with lots of links to historically accurate events and artefacts. The cigar brand is an awesome choice! Very interesting backdrop. Feels like a promising novel. Looking forward to the story that follows! 10/10, would read again.

I was hooked from the moment I started reading! I felt like I was there in a grimey london alley. Shaw writes with an effortless swagger, charming yet filthy with gritty realism. A living breathing world with interesting characters and tantalizing mysteries, I cannot wait to see where this goes and will be sure to check out any other works by this author. Easily my favourite up and coming writer. Do yourself a favor and have a read - you won't regret it!

So far so good! Superb sentence structure and flow, very immersive descriptions and obviously written by someone who's done their historical research properly. The author's strong sense of detail is a strength as it pulls the reader into 1800's London and doesn't let go. The first two chapters read a bit slow, but things really picked up from Chapter 3. The story continues to be engaging and the characters vibrantly alive. Good job!
