Chapter 49: To Crescent Island

" So we're really doing it," Masterson said as the Voyager sailed through the ocean to Crescent Island, the headquarters of the biggest organization - besides the Marines - in the North Blue, and Achilles and his crew were about to storm it in a couple of hours.
" Is it that hard to believe?" Bullet asked walking up to Masterson who was standing in front of the ship's figurehead.
Achilles was steering the ship as always and Marco was training on his six powers, leaving them to talk to each other.
" If you told me a couple of weeks ago, I would join the Spade Pirates, fight the Helix Pirates and then go on to fight against the Hutts, I would have slapped you," Masterson said to Bullet laughing at the absurdity of his time on the crew.
" I can't blame you, sometimes I feel the same. Who would have thought me joining Achilles would change my life this much." Bullet responded to Masterson amused as well.
" When did you join the crew? I know Marco joined like a month before me." Masterson asked curiously since Achilles seemed to trust him with everything.
" Officially I joined the crew about like 2 weeks before Marco but Achilles asked me to join his crew when I was 14 when he saved my life. But stuff happened and 2 years later he asked me to join and this time I said yes." Bullet answered Masterson remembering the day Achilles saved him from a hail of bullets.
[ A/N: Achilles is 15, Bullet is 16, Marco is 8 and Masterson is 16 as well. I go more into depth in some of the later chapters once this Hutt arc is over. ]
" Oh wow, you guys have known each other since way back then?" Masterson replied somewhat surprised. But it made sense to him those two would go way back due to how close they are, even more than Marco.
Since to Masterson, Achilles treats Marco as a little sibling he cares about but treats Bullet as an equal and his best friend.
" What are you guys talking about?" Achilles asked walking over to them once the waters were calm.
" Oh when you guys joined the crew and stuff." Masterson answered Achilles.
" Well, that takes me back. I still remember when I meet Bullet for the first time and saved him from a giant ass explosion." Achilles said reminiscing about the day since to him, it's one of the most important days of his life.
" What the hell were you guys doing at age 15!" Masterson asked afraid of the answers he was going to get.
" I was one of the commanding officers of the Galzbrug's army," Bullet said in a tone that obviously said he didn't want to talk too much about it. Achilles saying this decided to take over the conversation.
" Well, I was a bounty hunter taking down pirate crews. I think I was somewhat famous as well." Achilles said in a bragging tone which seemed to make everyone chuckle a little.
" Other than that I really didn't do much. I stayed on an island that my family had to ourselves and just trained. My mom would beat my ass every day and my dad would train me." Achilles said summarising his life until now.
" That's nice, your parents must be pretty strong if they trained considering how much a monster you are."
As Achilles was about to respond, Marco came out of nowhere and talked.
" They are since Achilles he never once managed to hurt either of them," Marco said to the astonishment of Masterson since to him Achilles so far has shown he's the strongest there is after taking down William in a fair and square duel.
" Is that true?" Masterson asked not believing a word Marco said.
Just the thought that there were people out there that even Achilles couldn't touch was proving to be a shocking revelation for Materson.
" I'm afraid it's all true, I never once managed to beat, or even hurt them in any of my spars against them." Achilles said with a shrug before walking back to steer the ship leaving the three to continue talking.
"That's insane." Materson muttered.
"I guess, but it's not that surprising. There are monsters out there that we can't even hope to defeat as we are, so it's not really that shocking that Achilles' parents can beat him as easily as they can." Bullet spoke as he leaned on the side of the ship.
"I guess, but still, to think there are people out there that are that powerful."
"The North Blue is small, the real powerhouses reside in the New World."
"What's the New World?" Materson asked Bullet confused.
*Sigh*
"The New World is a sea that is found at the latter half of the Grandline, it is where all the truly powerful Pirates and Marines reside. It's where we plan to set off to once our crew is big enough and strong enough." Bullet spoke as he closed his eyes, envisioning the thrill of fighting the monsters that traveled the New World.
[ 10 Minutes Later ]
As the Voyager sailed closer and closer to Crescent Island, Achilles was deep in mind thinking about to what do next. With the ship now being close to 90 meters away from the island.
The crew had already come up with multiple plans before they started sailing yesterday but Achilles decided to cancel all of them after seeing the island's defensive capabilities through a telescope.
' Well, there goes 1 hour of planning.' Achilles thought to himself quite sad at the time they wasted.
" So I'm guessing we aren't sticking with the plan we came up with? Bullet said after looking at the expression on Achilles' face.
" It would be a bad idea if we did." Achilles spoke back folding the telescope in his hands.
" The island is defended way too much compared to Red Sand Island for our plan to actually work. I counted around 15 long-distance cannons stationed around the outskirts of the island. The cannons looked to be the same type that are onboard Marine battleships." Achilles said to Bullet understanding what would happen if they got near the island.
" The Voyager would be shredded apart to pieces before we could even get close to the island." Bullet replied annoyed. They knew the island was going to be defended but certainly not to this extent.
" We could sneak in?" Bullet continued talking now in his thinking pose which is him just having a couple of fingers on his hand.
" That would do that job but then who's going to defend the ship?" Masterson said to the duo overhearing what they were talking about since they weren't being quiet. Rather they didn't care as it was their own crew.
As Masterson said that all three of them looked toward Marco at the same time.
" Well, Marco no hard feelings but you staying and guarding the ship makes the most sense," Masterson said walking to the blonde hair kid and patting him on the head. Which just further served to annoy the kid.
" Marco, I already know what you are going to say but hear me out first. I need you to guard the ship while we are out, it's very important. Remember what I told you before. And besides, the fight is going to be boring."
Achilles said before Marco could speak and reject the proposition.
" Fine, I stay on the ship."
" Thanks," Bullet responded to Marco with a small smile on his face.
" Oh right before we go, take this. In case the cards starts to burn, I want you to fly to the island as soon as possible." Achilles said to Marco handing him his own vivre card along with Bullet and Masterson's vivre cards as well. Just in case there is a slight chance something goes wrong.
[ In chapter 16, I mentioned Chiron taught Achilles how to make vivre cards.]
" Understood." Marco responded in a serious matter as he knew what vivre cards are and what they did since Achilles explained to the crew what they are before.
" Well, let's go," Bullet said grabbing Masterson like a grocery bag and started using moon-walk towards the direction of the island.
" It won't take long at all, Marco." Achilles said as he did the same thing and started air walking towards the island as well.
" Guess it's just you and me, buddy," Marco said to the ship watching the three disappear from his sight. But from some inexplicable feeling, Marco felt like someone had responded to him. But after a while he thought it was just his imagination.
" You guys gotta teach me how you two walk-on fucking air somehow and all the other crap I have seen you guys doing," Masterson said frustrated not liking the position he's in currently.
" We were originally going to but with us being so being so busy and injured we never had the time." Achilles answered Masterson constantly kicking the air along with Bullet creating small amounts of shockwaves below their feet.
" Alright listen, guys, Im gonna go take out the guards stationed on the cannons around the outskirts. Wait for my signal, I send it when I'm done." Achilles said as they were about 40 meters away from the island which was pretty small as they got closer.
The small island was in the shape of a crescent just as its name hinted. But the most noticeable feature of the island was the giant volcano in the middle of the island with black coming out of it.
The island was very rocky and filled with mountains with no suitable place to live on. There was also a five-tiered golden pagoda built on top of a craggy hill connect to the sea by a long staircase.

" Understood" Bullet responded to Achilles as they hide behind a large cloud so no one would notice them.
" Be careful," Masterson said to Achilles before he left.
[ 5 Minutes Later ]
" Sorry but you gotta die." Achilles said suddenly appearing behind a guard who was checking on a large cannon and killing him by stabbing him through the heart with a finger pistol.
Before anyone else could notice what was going on, Achilles did the same thing with eventually all guards on the outskirts of the island who were either on guard duty or were stationed on the cannons by using a combination of shave and finger pistol.
Once everyone on the outskirts was killed, Achilles motioned towards Bullet and Masterson as the outskirt was safe now. Luckily for him, the duo saw him waving at them.
[ 5 Minutes Later ]
" So what next?" Masterson asked Achilles as they hide behind a mountain.
" The whole island is guarded but they aren't our target. We just need to take out Paris whose on the top floor of the pagoda. So I rather us save our stamina for him and his two guards since those three are going to be our biggest problem." Achilles said while looking at the golden pagoda.
" Well, let's get to it" Bullet muttered before the group changed into the uniform of the guards on the island. They took it from a couple of the dead soldiers since if they flew towards the top of the pagoda, the guards would notice them and start blasting at them. Something all three didn't want to deal with.
" Follow my lead." Achilles said to them as they started walking up the massive staircase leading to the pagoda.
" What are you guys doing here? It's not time to switch yet." One of the two guards who was stationed at the entrance to the pagoda asked.
" Really? Our commanding officer said it was time." Bullet answered the guard in an tone that made it sound like the guard was at fault here.
" Wait a min—" As soon as the other guard noticed something wasn't right, Achilles suddenly stabbed him in the heart killing him along with the other guard as well.
" Well, let's go." Achilles ordered walking into the pagoda. To everyone's surprise, there were no guards inside at all on any of the 4 bottom floors.
The floors were filled with different antiques, weapons, gold statues, and massive portraits of famous people ranging from pirates to marines and some famous bounty hunters like Cade Bone and Bossk.
" Oh wow, this dude is pretentious," Masterson said as the crew arrived at the last floor. Which was blocked by a massive golden door and a guard as well.
" Hey what are you guys doing here? No one is allowed to be on this floor." The guard said taking out his sword from his belt.
" Sorry but you gotta die." Achilles muttered to the guard right before Masterson fired 2 bullets which hit the guard in the head killing him.
" Let's do this!" Achilles said in an excited voice walking up to the golden door.
