"Are you coming with me, or not? I already told you we could stop for cookies when we're done." Rowan popped his head in the kitchen door to see what was taking Wren so long to come outside.

For the last couple days, he'd been thinking nonstop about the storm of Ciprian's destruction where it loomed on the horizon. But he'd also been trying to hold onto the sunlight as much as possible, because once the storm hit, he wasn't sure how long it would be before they saw daylight again.

Today, sunshine took the form of buying Wren cookies and checking on the pregnant woman who he'd saved from the poison.

Loma said Zoe was doing fine, but Rowan decided he needed to see her for himself just to make sure there were no lingering effects of the poison that only he would be able to sense.
