Nicasi was feeling pretty damn proud of himself for being able to walk the short distance to the bathroom without his knees knocking together every step of the way. Sure, he was only moving slightly faster than Grandmother Lili on a good day, but he didn't even break a sweat.

He glanced over his shoulder to see Lysander following a few paces behind him with his hands clasped behind his back like they were out on a leisurely stroll. Nicasi tried to go a little faster.

Not caring that the race he suddenly found himself in was entirely in his head, he gave Lysander a satisfied smirk when he reached the doorway first. "I won."

"A formidable opponent, as always." Lysander's eyes sparkled with amusement as he bowed his head in defeat.

Nicasi's steps felt lighter as he approached the tub. Maybe he wasn't in as bad of shape as he thought.
