Mara lifted a finger toward the energy that quivered over her palm. A thrill ran up her spine as the thread of Disorder separated from its partner to follow her fingertip. It brushed against her, filling her with a warm and tingly feeling from the inside out before slipping away to resume its dance.

Her eyes darted to Yamm's face, not sure she believed what she just saw. The Disorder had reacted to her. It came to her because she wanted to touch it.

"That's right." The pride in Yamm's voice made Mara feel even more warm and tingly than the energy did. "Do you understand now? The others may be ready to return to the way things should be, but it takes someone with a special kind of ability to truly be able to see between the cracks deeply enough to use the energy they find hidden there. Some people are just born with it, and no amount of Ciprian's scrubbing will change that."
