In the year 2000 an original extant copy of Antonio Pigafetta's First Voyage Around the World was stolen, then one-night Inspector Luis Legaspi received a call in the wee hours of the morning. On the other line was a distressed Aubrey Flores, daughter of a renowned local cartographer expert. The doctor was kidnapped in the most baffling way. In his study are clues as to why he was kidnapped.

It is now up to Luis and Aubrey to solve the mystery behind the kidnapping. Going to Cebu they meet Archie Muller, a scholar, and historian. In a breathless race through the province of Cebu, They try to match wits with a faceless powerbroker who is deeply intent in getting a long-lost historical artifact. Unless they can discover the whereabouts of the doctor - and the artifact - both might be lost forever.
