Chapter 146: Caretaker of the Underworld

"Ah," Rafael smiled.  "I see Chloe has confided in you, Nanael of the House Montblanc."

"My name is Inanna."

"Inanna is just something your mother made up to keep your real name a secret.  Your name is Nanael Montblanc," he corrected.

"Where did you get that idea?"  I asked.

"I was the one who named you," he smiled wistfully.  "The 53rd angel of the Shem HaMephorash, fifth angel of the Principalities.  You are the one who will protect and fight for those who strive for the higher heights of the sciences and philosophy."

"Is that what Nanael stands for?"  I looked anywhere but at him.  This stranger knew who I was on a very personal level.

He raised an eyebrow.  "An angel's name, yes.  That, and you were born on December 15th, which is one of Nanael's four days to shine."

"So…if I had been born a few days later…"

"Then I would have named you Nithael, the sixth angel of the Principalities" he shrugged and grinned.
