Chapter 53: Sack of Rice

Yu Feng really wanted to give the man in front of her a beating.

The moment she had arrived inside the banquet hall, the man had pressed his blade to her neck right after she saved everyone's life. She was not given a lot of time to explain the situation and the Emperor had already commanded her to come down to prove her claim.

And now, this man had the nerve to scold her?

If it was not because of her identity, Yu Feng really wanted to beat him until he became unrecognizable.

Suppressing her anger, Yu Feng then turned around and headed towards the stairs in a hurry. The Emperor had told her that she did not have a lot of time. She needed to disarm that mechanism and let the festivity continue as usual.

The people would panic if the Emperor suddenly decided to cancel this important event and that panic would surely lead to another problem. Yu Feng had watched how a stampede started because two people started to quarrel in the street. She could almost imagine another stampede would happen just because the festivity had suddenly ended with the lantern left unlit.

Yu Feng was running up the stairs when she suddenly noticed that the man had caught up with her.

Qin Zhi Hao looked at Yu Feng with a questioning gaze and asked, "Why are you running slow? This is not your usual speed."

Her calmed heart boiled with anger again. She was planning to ignore the person beside her, but his gaze was messing with her concentration. "You don't know how far I've run tonight," Yu Feng replied, slightly panting. "And that stairs to the watching platform… why do I feel as if it was longer when I climbed up than the time I climbed down?"

Qin Zhi Hao did not answer. Instead, he scanned his eyes around the inside of the lantern before he turned to Yu Feng again. "Do you know how that explosive looked like?"

"I don't know. I only know that those people had left explosives inside this lantern."

"Where do you think that explosive is located?"

Yu Feng looked around. Previously, she had heard the men's conversation in the drainage and could make her guess at where the explosive will be located. The man's purpose was to kill the Emperor and the ministers.

To get the effect that they wanted, obviously, they were going to put that explosive somewhere near the watchtower's viewing platform.

Yu Feng raised her arm and pointed towards a direction.

Suddenly, Yu Feng felt a grip around her waist and her feet were lifted off the ground. A yelp escaped her mouth before Yu Feng covered her mouth with her hands. She turned towards Qin Zhi Hao with her wide eyes and asked, "What are you doing?"

Qin Zhi Hao replied with a sneer. With a tap of his feet, the two were suddenly leaping into the air, climbing up at one level at a time.

It took them less than ten seconds for Qin Zhi Hao to arrive at the place where Yu Feng had pointed at him earlier. As soon as he let go of her, Yu Feng staggered at her feet, and the nauseous feeling raised to her throat.

She was carried as if she was a sack of rice!

To have someone grab at her waist area, pressing at her stomach area was not comfortable at all.

Moreover, Qin Zhi Hao had leaped up high, making her a little dizzy. Fortunately, it did not take them a long time to arrive. If she had to stay in that uncomfortable position for a while longer, perhaps she would vomit the steam bun that she ate earlier.

Once she caught up with her breath, Yu Feng shot Qin Zhi Hao an annoyed look.

"You..." Yu Feng patted her chest area while she suppressed that uncomfortable feeling in her stomach. "Next time, could you at least tell me what you were going to do? Or you could try to be gentler."

Qin Zhi Hao could only pretend that he did not see the angry look on her face. "There won't be next time."

Of course, this would not be the only time that Qin Zhi Hao held Yu Feng like that and carried her around. In the future, as they both faced danger together, Qin Zhi Hao would continue to carry Yu Feng in this manner as they were in a race with time.

When Yu Feng looked away, Qin Zhi Hao shifted his gaze towards Yu Feng's waist. A deep frown appeared on his face when he thought of how skinny the boy was.

As the thought crossed his mind, Qin Zhi Hao made a promise to treat Yu Feng with healthy, nutritional food once everything ended and they finally get out of this place safely.

He then followed Yu Feng with his gaze and saw that she was checking at a large box that was not supposed inside the lantern. A few long wires were attached to the lantern.

Qin Zhi Hao followed the wires with his eyes and saw that the wires were all connected towards the fuel cell that was at the center of the lantern. The smell of fuel were strong on the wires.

Once the Emperor lit up the wick, the fire will travel from the viewing platform towards the fuel cell and the lantern will be lit on. However, someone had connected a long wire from the fuel cell towards the box. Once the lantern was lit up, the fire will continue to travel until it reached the box.

At this time, Qin Zhi Hao watched as Yu Feng opened the lid of that box carefully. His gaze darkened when he saw various types of fireworks inside. A few handheld explosives were mixed in along with the fireworks.

It was not hard to imagine what will happen once the firework was lit up all at the same time. An explosion will happen and their enemy would be watching a spectacular firework scene from a safer place.

After ensuring that there was nothing wrong, Qin Zhi Hao raised his sword and cut the wire from that box.

Yu Feng let out a breath of relief when the wire was cut out without any problem. Then, with a tap of his feet, Qin Zhi Hao swept around the area to look for anything suspicious.

Meanwhile, Yu Feng checked at the box of explosive and fireworks and removed it safely from its place. This was the evidence she had to present to the Emperor. Clearly, she will have to bring it back and let the Emperor see.
