Chapter 2: Eternal Archives

God's smile was mesmerizing to those who saw it. Her appearance had a sense of charm into it. Even low-rank Spirits who had no regard for aesthetics felt that her strange form was perfect and mystical.

Most Spirits only have a body and numerous arms. Some appeared to be giant blobs with tentacles while others could only appear like they were squids, small blobs with thin arms.

Spirits have no eyes, nose, or ears. First of all, spirits cannot be seen in any material form. Only Spirits could see another spiritual being.

In that case, since everyone was a being made from spirit, everyone could see each other. They were not limited by their sight and could see through the battlefield if they just focus hard enough. They could hear, or sense anything as long as they willed it.

And for that same reason, the Eternal War will continue forever.

And for that same reason, everyone became fearful of what to come.

Loud shrieks echoed across the Eternal Realm.

Troubled. Scared. Anxious.

The Spirits under thousands of Spirit Lord wailed in discomfort.

The thousands of Spirit Lords had innumerable questions appearing on their inner-self.

"What is happening?! Why can't we hear what she's talking about?!"

"This is the first time that Eternium prevented anyone from sensing what's happening inside!"

"She must know how to get the title! Everyone, let's unite together and stop her! Charge!"

It was a dumb but logical conclusion. For the first time, after countless space years, countless Spirit Lords worked together with the same goal in mind.

The one who caused this strange event, which in turn formed this alliance, stood strong and did not care about the others.

Without wind, the numerous leaves on the giant tree's branches rustled. It was expressing joy that it rarely showed to others. It was filled with glee that after witnessing a never-ending war, it finally had someone to chat solemnly. It wanted to treasure this moment with tranquility and peace.

Eternium, the capital space at the center of the Eternal Realm, was shrouded in a white translucent dome-like veil.

If Spirits had material eyes, they could see through the veil and observe the following events inside. If they had ears, they would be able to hear the crisp and joyful laughter she was producing.

Unfortunately, they don't.

The veil blocked any spiritual sense from entering the island and it stopped any kind of interruption while it chatted with the familiar figure in front of it.

God casually chatted with the enormous tree as if they were friends. The way she initiated the conversation told numerous stories. They reminisced about the past, chatted about the present, and looked forward to the future.

The tree was a seed from a material plane that crashed into a spirit realm. Coincidentally, the material plane was filled with the quintessence of nature while the spiritual realm had the main essence of memories.

The friction between the material plane and the spirit realm created a seed that harbors the essence of both worlds. A seed that had the power of nature and the ability to create memories.

The seed was planted since time immemorial. It grew larger and sturdier as space years continued to pass.

Time was fleeting in the eyes of the tree until it grew up to a certain height and bore fruits. With the fruits laying on its branches, new beings appeared before it and approached it with curiosity. They may have wandered on the island unconsciously, but upon indulging in the fruits on the branches, these beings suddenly became enlightened.

These beings started to accumulate memories. Their existence was themselves, and they knew that they were existing.

The time of gliding and floating aimlessly in space finally over, these beings learned that they could become stronger by absorbing other beings.

As time goes on, these beings called themselves spirits.

All the sentient spirits grew stronger over time that they started to sense sleeping spirits in the void space. More time passed and numerous mindless spirits were absorbed and further increase their powers. Then the time came when they could wake the sleeping spirits from the void, summoning them to their side as their soldiers.

Sleeping spirits are the consumed spirits destroyed by other spirits or through spirit decay. If a spirit reached a certain low amount of spiritual energy, it will lay dormant to instinctively preserve and survive. They have no idea why they were doing it, but they just do it.

In their dormant state, they would be hidden from other spirits and enter the void. Only spirits that reached a certain level could sense them.

Some spirits wanted to take advantage of dormant spirits by absorbing them, however, they immediately realized that by doing so, they would be damaging themselves.

Absorbing dormant spirits would transfer the spirit decay plaguing them, which would cause more trouble than benefit. Even desperate spirits refused to indulge in poison that would surely haunt them back after some time.

Soon, strong spirits called themselves Spirit Lords and gathered thousands of spirits as their soldiers.

Spirit Lords noticed that waking dormant spirit costs a small portion of their spiritual energy. The awakened spirits also inherited the ability to create memories. With this unexpected discovery, the spirit lords have to make sure that they could control their army.

Upon waking up, spirits were told that they need to be thankful to their lords. A lord had to do a lot of things and sacrifice a portion of himself just to wake them up. That their only purpose is to follow every order of their lord.

In future battles, it implied that the larger your army, the stronger the lord.

Countless space years passed, Spirits Lords were killed and new ones replaced them. Material planes and Spirit Realms were destroyed, dozens and thousands of new Spirit Lords appeared.

Battle. Win. Lose. Exist.

An endless cycle of war.

Why?

Is it always like these?

Or did I cause this?

The lonely tree doubted itself.

CREATORS' THOUGHTS
Arba Arba

This is a work of fiction. I hope you at least understand that. Also, I don't have any knowledge of angels and demons, so everything would be based on random thoughts.

Suggestions are welcome though
