Synopsis
In the year 2050, the world changed drastically when mysterious portals began to randomly appear, bringing with them terrifying monsters dubbed Transcendents and unimaginable dangers. Humanity nearly collapsed entirely, and the survivors took refuge in cities and secure areas, protected by individuals with special abilities called Awakened. These Awakened were the only humans capable of entering the portals and exploring the unknown realms on the other side, in search of resources, treasures, glory, or answers.
Kaito, on the other hand, was just an unhappy young man who found solace in a classic online game called Mortal Tower, where he created an avatar of a powerful and charismatic villain. While many hoped to become Awakened, Kaito believed that even if he lived a million lives, he would never have the fortune to become one. However, one fateful day, fate played a trick on him. He woke up and naturally looked at his reflection in the bathroom mirror, but he could hardly believe what he saw. Kaito strangely resembled his Mortal Tower avatar.
And to make things even better, Kaito somehow inherited the purchasing system from Mortal Tower, which would allow him to buy all kinds of items, from rare abilities to legendary equipment!
Now, Kaito has to deal with his new life in an almost post-apocalyptic world full of opportunities, but also with a new great challenge called Celestial Abode, something even greater than the classic dungeon-crawling portals, something so similar to the early floors of Mortal Tower that it scares him. However, Kaito sets a goal for himself: conquer the top of both worlds, but he doesn't know it will cost him his selflessness.

I will give my honest opinion, so... The main idea is very good, really very good, especially the powers and the world. At first, I didn't really like the protagonist, because he seemed very weak, only I quickly started to like him. Kaito is the type of protagonist more complex than I'm used to reading, especially me who likes chinese novels more, so you see a certain instability in the character's personality, because he is not as japanese protagonists of anime, who is the same from the beginning of the work until the end. In other words, Kaito evolves and as far as I read, it seems that he will evolve more and more. I want to see this boy become very strong!
A villain novel that the protagonist isn't a complete revenge-crazed sadist from the start? I'm looking forward to the development, I love novels that follow different paths and not the basic, easy to find generic.

I must say that this book was absolutely, amazingly well done. My only problem would be the title, it is very misleading, I came thinking it is another boring isekai novel with a system in a fantasy world. I never expected a post-apocalyptic game like setting and on top of it, the main character is a vampire (p.s. I love vampire novels). Author, I really wish you luck on the continuation of this novel and I really hope it becomes popular because although, the plot with awakeners is a bit cliché, the idea of a hero-like person learning to be a villain is indeed very interesting... Love you author!!!🤩🙃❤️

Okay, I'm really surprised! How is this not getting people's attention? Really nice to see something that seems generic at first, but totally escapes initial expectations in a good way. I knew Nando Falske never disappoints!

Just putting my 5 stars here as we have reached chapter 25 ^^ This novel is a system idea I've had for a while, and the world is also a concept I thought of when I first played Cyberpunk 77, but mixed with post-apocalyptic concepts from my favorite game, The Last of Us. Also, the idea of the portals and the Celestial Abode comes from Supergene, but I feel that the world beyond the portals could be richer and more vivid, and that is my intention to create such a world. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the novel and if possible, leave your ratings here as feedback and also to help me! Besides, that's all I want to say, enjoy the reading.
