Chapter 9: 09 Re-plan everything
He reviewed the materials available and then traveled to various parts of the backyard and gathered many things at the self-made workshop. He had seen the plans made by him when he was still the 'Dumb' one and it made him want to sigh heavily in exasperation.
[First Plan: Leave Mousillon, build ships and sail away.] Mark scoffed at this as there were lots of opportunities in this blasted of a Dukedom where he could exploit. It was still Centuries away until that idiot Duke would cause all of his court to turn to vampirism due to some of his close counsel being vampires. And sail away? How foolish, there were so many dangerous beings in the sea that even the undead pirated dread.
[Second plan: Go to Kislev, make a large business empire. Seduce the Tzarina!!] Mark felt it was irresponsible for him to hypnotize himself to be as dumb but it was his own self-preservation from the scheming family he once had. But now he was here meant he could reveal who he really is, even if all the plans he made before were now useless at least he has some sort of 'freedom' here, kind of.
[Third Plan: Go capture lots of animals by myself for Back yard!] Mark felt this was the only okay plan so he started to make the things he needed now as he thought of this plan, he really felt that he should not hypnotize himself again. He was in Mousillon, he could go to the Main city and gain a foothold there. Gain a group of sea farers to do his bidding, why should he go himself and not make others do it for him.
The rest of the plans were very irresponsible such as introducing more modern ideas, which is dangerous as he was very close to an empire that was run by fanatic priest. He might be suddenly marked as a Heretic if he made waves in technology and Skaven warlords might try to kidnap him if neccessary.
That was why he should try to play by the rules of this place, as Mark was now making a saddle for the now very healthy horse. He now plans to go out as a wandering knight in this realm, the Dukedom is still not irredeemable yet as it has not been turned to the waste land it would be. But Mark cares not because what came in his awakening is the memories that he has of this world.
Last he remembered there was a place in the World's Edge Mountains that could be a large hindrance in his plans. The very First Vampire, Neferata, he knew that she has spies everywhere in the known world. She knew every intrigue, gossips, who will be Emperor next, who killed who as she has vampires everywhere. Mark started remembering many things about this world, including the inevitable End Times.
He hammered away as his thoughts drove in hyper speed thinking of schemes he should concoct to gain a strong foothold here. He remembered the Ancient Spirit Contract as well as the C-Class Summoning Contract and thought of the best scenario he could get for now. It took about two days for Mark to finish the Saddle as well as the Horse Armor he made inspired from the design of Heavy Knights in fantasy games he played.
He then spent two more weeks trying to make a set of armor with sophisticated design on it which made him earn three more levels in Forging. Mark then realized this might not be enough but something caught his attention as he stared at the farm fields that he made before with the skeletons. It was that there were lots of bundles up wheat that had now been harvested. Three stacks of different wheat gathered in different times but what made Mark pay attention is that they have not started to rot.
"System, do crops inside the Backyard grow faster? Also is there another function that prevents the harvested wheat from degrading even without storage?" Mark asked
[The Host is correct, the Backyard siphons Astral energies outside to support the ecosystem here thus have accelerated growth of crops as well as regenerating resources in due time.]
Mark instantly called for the Knight Golem outside which he could also control with his mind only. He could even try to make it move like a second body of his but without the sense of touch and taste. He realized that he might be sitting on a gold mine which he could exploit.
He deduced he could get resources infinitely here but he would still need to wait for them to regenerate. That was why he could subtly feel that the caves he mined seemed different as it was regenerating resources. Mark controlled the Knight golem to help him gather more materials as well as a helping hand.
He also called Torgu the Giant Child, which Mark suspects to be a Skytitan as most giants were chaos tainted thus were mostly mindless. Only the Skytitans were intelligent enough to use ancient magic to make their child escape, from Orges most likely. He also preprogrammed commands inside the skeletons head to make various things with the harvested wheat which was mostly made into mead in large wooden barrels Mark carved out from large redwood trees.
Some fruits were also made into wine while the waste materials were used to feed the chickens and rabbits. Mark also found some other deposits of metals in the island thus started to make alloys and even found an oil deposit. Mark now added various projects for him to do including making a places to extract gasoline in the oil.
Mark kept working by adding more cops as well as other things like grapes to make wine, rice for rice wines and other alcoholic beverages. Mark also made new programmed commands inside the skeletons heads on trying to harvest anything worth while like making vinegar, oils, paper, ink, straw mats, ropes, wooden planks, bows, arrow shafts, spear shafts, wild glue, flour, vegetables and many more. The perishables would be put inside a cave in the cold parts of the Backyard.
As Mark thought of things to exploit he also contemplated and thought about the many things he missed when he was still hidden in his mind. DC world is most likely in 1991 a few years after Wonderwoman 1984 but what he couldn't help notice is the first thing he saw when he opened the door to DC.
Batman's parents were supposed to be killed in 1981 but somehow it was different in this place, maybe this universe in not entirely the same as the movie universe. There might also be slight changes on what he knew but it might not be much. There was also the randomness of customers which made his speculate that like what the shop says that it is for the Fated. The entrance only appears randomly all around the world.
Maybe the first movie scenes he could go in would be in Dark Phoenix but he does not need to interfere as he was not sure if he could protect himself from Charles. He was not sure which Charles but they all have tendencies to alter memories of people. He maybe could just give them a tip of what might happen but in no way he would get close to the Bald mind reader.
He also thought of various characters that he could maybe employ here, he plans to build a laboratory here but it would take some time as he plans to develop his technological tree by himself slowly but surely. Thankfully he remembered many things that could help him such as how to make Gunpowder, handmade Pistols, Grenades and even WW1 Artilleries.
But that would be for later, he knew showing these would make him target to many warlords so he plans to become someone in the shadows and scheme. As this was now his reality then he should make the best of it, maybe develop a habit of collecting various books too. He knew the economy here in Mousillon is so poor that peasants would lay their lives just for a few silver coins for you.
Days pass by a Mark busied himself in making what was needed. He was not that skillful thus many failures and tries were made in making the whole get-up look regal enough that people wouldn't dare mess with him. He also discovered he gained a passive skill [Fire resistance] now lvl. 5, which made the heat of the forge bearable.
He realized he could also gain skills by just grinding them thus started the few days of self-torture that he planned and behold he did gain a skill as well as a trait.

"Fuck you! You're the one which is wrong with my head!" Mark cursed as he saw the remarks of his traits. But this also proved his theory that the System changes his physique as traits and stats were being gained. Thus besides the daily morning training he does he also does repetitions of weight lifting as well as squats to make him earn more STR and AGI.
