Chapter 60: 60 Surprise
"Damn this place stinks…" Mark said as he slowly went down cave like tunnel but he knew this was not a natural cave at all. From the Marks on the wall as well as how unnaturally smooth the floor is testament enough of what kind of place he is in right now.
He had remembered that there was an Under Empire Highway for the Skaven which they developed since time immemorial that was branched all over the Old world down to the hot deserts and even reach way far to Cathay. There was even tunnels leading to Lustria which made the Skaven able to access various resources that was unavailable to others.
Now Mark tread this dark damp tunnels to see if he could find the ways leading to Skaven Blight. He wanted to strike real hard against the Skaven for what the Horned Rat did to him. It might really sound petty but it would certainly slow down the plans of these large rats for the Future.
One of which is releasing a deadly plague on Brettonia that would lead to the deaths of Millions of people. Mark did not want to stick to timeline bullshit because if he did then the world would go down the road of end times. It might still be centuries away but since this is an Alternate reality then the flow of events would surely have changed a lot since he arrived here.
So now he went to strike down the Jugular of the Skaven community, he would raid the whole city where the whole Skaven population is connected to each other. As Mark was venturing the tunnels of the Skaven, a tumultuous event has taken place in the Warp where the Chaos gods resided as the gods of humanity and other pantheons launched a blitz attack against the domain of the Horned Rat.
This alerted the Four main Chaos gods but they did nothing as they were now I meeting with each other due to a call from the wisest of the four. Tzeentch has been made aware of the recent happenings that transpired on his apostle Kairos Fate weaver.
(Tzeentch: My apostle has said that the Future has gone uncertain, the one we felt. The Intruder is most likely the culprit…)
(Slaanesh: And what would this matter to me? I thrive under the vileness of mortals so why should I bother in looking for the outsider…)
(Nurgle: A disturbance was felt… too much to ignore as I feel the Rot of the world has slowed down…)
(Khorne: Then destroy everything then!!)
(Slaanesh: Crude as ever…)
(Tzeentch: This matter is of most importance, whatever this disturbance is. It is interfering with the result of the End times.... I see many roads has appeared and the future unstable. As it is a great Change, I of all of us feel it very clearly. A change even I cannot predict, something even Kairos cannot foresee.)
(Khorne: But what can your Apostle see then?)
(Tzeentch: Our Demise…)
(Nurgle: Impossible, rot will always exist, change is always happening, excess is abundant and violence is nonstop all over. How can we perish?)
(Tzeentch: I tried to peer beyond and even using the Warp I cannot pass through. Only thing I can tell is that we have been isolated, some response was heard but the other one outside the veil seemed like a young one. Young and rash…)
(Slaanesh: And like I said, what does this have to do with me? I see no point in ending the toys we have on this interesting world.)
{Tzeentch:…you were the first to vanish.)

The lands beyond rumbled as the presence of Slaanesh made the Chaos shake at the wake of the Demon Prince's power. Khorne's laugh was heard as well all over the lands of Chaos which was filled with bloodthirstiness and madness. But this all just happened for a split second, yet enough for the various gods sieging the Rat God to retreat.
They knew they were just giving the Rat god trouble but it would be hard to kill the large Rodent because like most Chaos Gods. The Rat god is an aspect of chaos which meant that it would be hard to eradicate the rat without making sure his connection to decay and ruin is severed.
[Three hours later]
Mark was now under a vast expanse of underground caves filled with various things unknown to man. He was surprised by the presence of light under here but he realized that there were bioluminescent moss existing under the underground world.
He could see the various minerals just lying about on the ground and unpolished gems stuck on the ceiling. With this much resources all available for the Skaven then it was no wonder they were able to advance their technological tree in a fast rise. Unethical practices with abundant resources could indeed advance the Skaven along with years of development unhindered.
Mark shuddered knowing this so he went to find possible tracks in this vast world underground. He did see various flora and fauna which he carefully extracted and added to his backyard. Well he is not alone as behind him were two dozen of his best shadows along with the Golem carrying a large coffin behind his back. But it was just a coffin with an Anywhere door installed, Mark is greedy so he did some resource gathering on the way.
Soon they were able to discover the large tunnels that were artificially made by the skaven. Mark and his team settled down as they found a secluded corner after making detours from dangerous looking beast found in the underground. Mark was even able to discover a pale colored raptor which he deduced to be a cold one.
He did remember that there were signs of hidden civilization under the earth when the Dark elves discovered the Under Sea which they used to pop out around the world. It was then they were able to use the cold ones and horned ones that lived under the caves. It was then Mark decided to build an underground outpost which will be handled by select men under his command.
Thus they made camp while securing their secluded corner making sure that they would only face enemies on one side. Mark then had the men make a wall by pulling out large wooden planks which was not new to his men. They had already treaded Mark as their God in mortal flesh thus everything he said was an edict to them.
In less than thirty minutes they were able to cover the entrance and apply wet dirt to make it look like the corner there never existed. From the space here Mark could tell that he could make a small compound for about fifty men and that was enough for him to take root in this underworld.
Mark was on a revenge mission but he did not rush much as he still could not make heads on what his third mission is on the chain mission.

That was all Mark could see and from what he had received from the last mission, he knew that the item would have a connection to the one he will receive on the last mission. But he could not understand what material was needed at all; it was like telling a normal person to go pick a rice grain I left in the middle of the planet Tattooine.
So he made a small outpost here so his men could go gather various items and resources. He did spend a lot of buying some equipment for his men which would be used for extraction of unknown items. But for now they would have to build the small outpost here, this was to watch for the movements of the Skaven and also start to train his men in battle.
From what he gathered, the Duke of Mousillon would arrive at Castle Rachard in two days as he had now finished cleaning his realm of traitors. And as Mark predicted he was used as a pawn but came out more from the actions of the Duke. There were also reports of a force that gathered from the Duchy of Chardonnay.
But stopped seeing that the situation in Castle Racahrd to be optimal for defense. A few days of harsh training Mark was able to slowly instill discipline on the ranks of the Soldiers. But he did not do much, just enough to be treated as a threat to attack but not too much that he'll appear ambitious.
He does not plan to enlarge his territory but appear as content being a defender, in due time the people there would be fiercely loyal to him. Including the former nobles that are now working for him and he did receive the letter that they were all pardoned after losing their titles.
But Mark showed them enough benefits that they were able to forget and dedicate themselves on their work. In the Future he would then slowly integrate them to his inner circle which was mostly consisted of Marian and Melissa. Mark's actions of controlling the vampires did not escape the attention of Neferata but the Queen of Vampires left him alone which was odd for Mark.
But maybe the letter he sent her was effective in making the old schemer look past his offense. It only took about two days before the construction was done on the outpost which was built using cement and steel bars. Had to make sure that the Skaven could not dig through the base if discovered and the coffin was now transformed into an Great Hall where the Shadows were now sitting down listening to Mark's instructions.
Mark wanted to be seen as something fleeting and not a major player in the game yet as that might bring unnecessary trouble for him. So even if his feats reach back to his homeland, it would just make him someone not to offend as he had proven he could fight the best knights of the Kingdom.
Strength with humility and lack of ambition would make others not want to offend you as they would not look for unnecessary trouble as well. Thus his schedule was now quite monotonous being wake up, train soldiers(Rachard), train Sailors, fish with sailors, Hypnotize personnel, add more vampires under his command, hypnotize some more, explore the underground tunnel networks as XLR8 and read various books(mostly math and science books) to gain more knowledge to understand his Cultivation Manual more.
Having a peak human physique does let the need of sleep become less, as the days were going swimmingly for Mark, he felt that things were now going on track of his plans. And reading books did make him able to comprehend how to approach the Cultivation Route easier. Having esoteric words in the manual did make him double take on how to practice it but now his peace was disturb during the visit of the Duke of Mousillon.
"For your valor in taking down the traitors of the Duchy I the Duke of Mousillon award Baron Johnson the hand of my Daughter Francine!!" The words of the Duke still rang on Mark's ears during the banquet and he was not able to react at all.
For three days he was like the Pikachu meme just standing there slack jawed throughout the process of the sudden engagement and wedding. It was then found the reason the Duke was quite late because he secretly arrange for this during his clean-up when he heard of the process Mark took the castle in one night.
He had his loyal men gather the materials needed for the flash wedding and even had prepared a wedding dress for his daughter who was caught unawares of her father's plan. Mark and Francine now stood at the Main bedroom on Castle Rachard in their wedding clothes silent and slack jawed at the sudden celebrations which got everybody surprised including the vampires.
It was there Mark was processing at how he could have forgotten the detail that nobles were fickle and sly as well as that arranged marriage was a thing here. He looked at the fifteen year old girl dressed in her wedding clothes and felt things became surreal in light speed. He stood there thinking at how with all his genius scheming brain he never even thought of this outcome.
'I married an underage girl!!!!' was what Mark could think and prayed that the Multiversal FBI not catch him for his offense.
Meanwhile the young girl was also stunned as she stood there looking at the handsome man in front of her, she did have develop feelings for Mark but this was not how she envisioned her love life to develop. What she wanted was all girls dreamed of, a gradual process of knowing each other, confessing her feelings, gaining his oath of fighting to prove his love and riding on his horse towards the setting sun while being carried like a princess.
'Where's my fairytale love life?!' was what could Francine think as she felt hatred to her father denying her of her fantasies.

Anyways the real reason our MC got the System and its general purpose will be mentioned on the next chapters that I will be planning to write. The Chapters until now were just how he gained footing on Warhammer world which will be important to future plans of the MC.)
