Chapter 23: Chapter 20
There was suddenly a weird tension in the air, just what is this?
"Yu Yingyi, if I don't get to taste the chocolate, how about I taste you instead?"
Yu Yingyi felt her cheeks heating up, never mind the part where she said she was used to it.
Moreover, she couldn't tell if Song Liya was joking or being serious, she hoped it was a joke...unless...
Somehow, at this moment, Song Liya seemed beautiful, her head dropping down below her shoulders, nearly touching Yu Yingyi. Her eyes were filled with emotions that Yu Yingyi could decipher.
Happiness, Joy, Love, and last but not least, lust.
Then several questions entered Yu Yingyi's mind.
Why was Song Liya happy with her? Why does she feel join around her? Why does she love her? And why does she want her? Yu Yingyi knew that Song Liya told her she loved her because she was fit to be her "wife", but she felt like that wasn't it.
There was something deeper than that.
"Liya, why do you love me?" asked Yu Yingyi.
"What kind of question is that in this situation? But didn't I already tell you this before? You're the perfect fit-"
"What's the real reason? You can't simply love someone just because they're the perfect fit for you. Tell me Song Liya, why do you love me when there's a lot of people out there much better than me?"
If Song Liya told the truth, Yu Yingyi would do her best to love Song Liya back as herself. If she didn't, then there was nothing to do, things would go on as they did before.
Song Liya contemplated for a moment, there was a different atmosphere in the air, she could tell Yu Yingyi was being serious. But even if she wanted to tell her why she loved her, she couldn't.
There was no way that was possible because...because it was something deeply related to herself.
Song Liya turned away. "Let's go to sleep instead, you can make the chocolate tomorrow, I suddenly feel tired."
Just like that, the atmosphere was gone, everything turned back to normal. It was as if their conversation never happened. Song Liya entered the bed next to Yu Yingyi and took a comfortable sleeping position.
But there were other things on Yu Yingyi's mind.
Just what was so important about why Song Liya loved her? She'd get it if there was a special occasion happening, but this was just a simple question that needed a regular answer.
Yu Yingyi's eyes started to close as she entered a dreamless sleep.
When morning arrived, Song Liya was already gone from her side. She didn't worry about it since she was probably doing something important, but she was wrong.
When Yu Yingyi finished getting ready, she walked into the kitchen and saw Song Liya staring at her with her palms against her chin and her elbow on the table as if she was waiting for her.
"Good morning, is there something you need?" Yu Yingyi asked.
"Yep! Here you go!" said Song Liya.
Song Liya pulled out cocoa beans, sugar cubes, and other ingredients she didn't need. More importantly, weren't there too many cocoa beans and sugar cubes and it was only the morning?
"Song Liya, don't tell me you want to eat chocolate in the morning."
"What morning darling? It's already the afternoon," said Song Liya pointing to the clock.
Yu Yingyi looked over into the direction where the clock was at and indeed, it was already thirty minutes into the afternoon.
So why...
"So why didn't you wake me up sooner?!"
"Huh? There wasn't anything to do in the morning anyway, it's not like you were going to go out again."
"You!"
Yu Yingyi had actually meant to go out today, there was something extremely important she needed to get. More than anything she loved besides her family, she loved to read about architecture and today was the day she was going to get her book from the library downtown.
Now that it was past the afternoon, there was no way she could get it.
There was only one option left.
"Song Liya, I'll make you the chocolate, but..."
"But?"
"You have to bring me every book about architecture you can find, if not, then no chocolate for you."
"Are you trying to make a deal?"
"Yep, I was planning to go to the library today in the morning, but since you didn't wake me up, I couldn't go."
"Hmm." Song Liya hummed as she made her way in front of Yu Yingyi. "Aren't you being a bit petty today?"
"Petty? I don't think I'm being petty right now, I'm just being my normal self. Anyways, I think you should start getting my books while I make your chocolate. Even if I am your husband, not everything is free, even if our relationship is bound by a-"
"Don't say it, I'll get your books and you better make the chocolate, it better be delicious."
"Oh? Are you doubting my skills? If so, I wonder if you can really find any books about architecture."
Somehow, this turned from making chocolate to a deal, and now it's a competition, but in Song Liya's side, she must find an insanely valuable book about architecture and it must be detailed.
While in Yu Yingyi's side, she must make the perfect chocolate. With the right amount of sweetness and the right amount of bitterness, the flavor has to be so addicting that you'll never get tired of it.
One could say this was a "friendly" battle between the married couples.
They immediately got to work, not wasting any time. Since this was a competition, time was on the line, whoever finished first would gain the advantage in the competition, but it all came down to who was better.
In another person's point of view, one could say that their behavior was just like childhood friends having fun with each other, acting like kids.
It was cute.
However, to them it wasn't cute at all, it was an intense fierce battle. The raging storm circling as the time ticked, the intense stirring to mix the chocolate and the sugar.
While there was a huge tornado chasing Song Liya as she started making her way to the library to find the perfect book.
Maybe it was exaggerated, but that was what made it fun.
