Chapter 284: First Fight Against Outsiders

The two hurried humans came to a halt a few meters away from him, their expressions grave. 

With swords clenched in their hands, they recognized him immediately—a vivid warning from their leaders echoing in their ears, ordering them to avoid confrontation at all costs; only if there were at least four of them could they attempt.

Lucius's frown deepened when his question went unanswered.

"Hmm, so they either don't understand me or they're unwilling to speak."

Glancing at his inventory, he noted the axe still in place, uncertain if the wood had swollen and tightened around the head. 

Deciding not to take any chances, he drew a simple, temporary sword and pointed it at them.

"Silvertide Empire?" He pronounced the name of the empire found in the diary before its translation. 

This time, he noticed a subtle but unmistakable reaction—their eyes widened in shock.
