While the players waged a bloody battle against the Lemures by the stairs, Angora reached the top floor of the tower thanks to Vela's protection.
There, he found Cecil who only had half of his human form left.
"You're finally here." Cecil was not as weak as he was when he vomited blood out of sheer frustration, and was instead staring at Angora composedly as he arrived. "I knew you would come!"
Angora caught sight of his father's figure at a corner with a gaping hole over his chest and showing no signs of life.
That was basically the same as being dead for the mortals of this world, but as a Player, Angora could see that there was just a fraction of HP left on his yellow HP bar—although it was slowly draining away.
Angora gave Vela a look. She nodded, and drew out a Health Potion (Coca-Cola) from her small bag and fed it to Horan.
Meanwhile, Cecil did not pay attention to whatever Angora's retainer was doing as his gaze remained on Angora.
"I've said that I would take what belongs to me even if you wouldn't give it to me."
As he spoke, black flesh tumors and tentacles stretched out over Cecil's body like a spiderweb of innards and veins, spreading over the room. He looked no different from a large beast on the hunt, gaping its maw and baring its frightening fangs.
Any normal person would probably have been frightened stiff in such a situation. Even Vela appeared as if a great foe was before her despite having challenged dungeons on multiple occasions, but Angora was merely looking at his brother with his usual gaze, even if Cecil had lost half his human form and most of his rationality.
"Why! Why are you still giving me that look?! You should be afraid now; you should be begging for mercy!"
Cecil's composure as if he had more than enough power to destroy Angora faded right then, his voice once again cracking in madness.
"I only feel that you're tragic," Angora said slowly. "You're hurt by your own delusions, ever bent on ruling over everything and ending up with your grotesque self now."
"To tell the truth, I didn't care how hostile you are towards me because I have never thought about having any exchange with you in the future." Angora's expression finally changed a little as his eyes conveyed anger. "Father had always valued you so much and sincerely watched over you—everything would have been yours, be it dukedom or land, so why would you hurt him?"
"Because he never gave me what truly mattered!" Cecil roared at him in turn. "Dukedom?! Land?! All those things are pocket change in the face of power! You know what I'm talking about, and it matters not even if you still play dumb now!"
"Is that all you wanted to say?"
Angora drew out the letters that Edward had stolen from Cecil's room and flung them on the floor. "In his letters to Count Ainsworth, Father had mentioned 'the treasure that God blessed me with', I believe?"
"Yes, that's it! But it's too late now. It doesn't even matter if you hide it, for I knew everything early on!" Cecil said cheekily.
"Do you really not know what the treasure refers to?" Angora asked then.
"Hmph!" Cecil snorted hatefully. "I may not know what it is, but the letters are dated around the time when your mother is latching on to the old man. Since he wrote to Ainsworth, the treasure must refer to something she gave him. How dare you claim he loves me after keeping that treasure for me for so many years! He only loved you, bast—"
"The treasure he's talking about is you, dumbass!" Angora abruptly cut Cecil's hateful rant short. "The letters were just a conversation he had with Ainsworth: Kinley was recently born, and father was intending for her to be betrothed to you and pave your way into the Empire as you inherit his dukedom! The 'treasure from god' is him bragging to the count about you, the son he's so proud of!"
"Impossible… how would you know…"
"That's what we talked about after the banquet. He had actually sent out someone to recover those letters after Count Ainsworth's death so that his enemies would never uncover his weakness, only to lose a few. Those would be these letters you managed to get, I guess."
Angora then sneered at Cecil's look of disbelief. "Although the letters lack context, just thinking about it would uncover the truth. Only dumbasses who overanalyze everything would keep nitpicking, until they go as far as killing their own father."
"Impossible! Impossible! Impossible! If what you say is true, would those Great Ones not realize that? They clearly believed that the god's treasure existed! Such a thing…" Cecil's fearsome figure began contorting after learning the unbelievable truth, his face turning even more fearsome at that.
"The 'Great Ones' that had your back isn't even human, right? If they could not even understand human emotion, how would they understand love?!"
"You lie! That's impossible! You're trying to trick me!"
Cecil stared in horror at his hands that were now full of tumors and green pus. "Why did I… for such a laughable reason…"
His throbbing tumors and tentacles became still then.
But just as Angora thought that Cecil finally realized how ridiculous a mistake he had made, Cecil's face turned malicious again.
"It's all your fault! It's all your fault! Would I have gotten into this if you never existed!? If you dared turn me into this misbegotten form, I would destroy all that you cherish, and torture you bit by bit!"
Angora's heart skipped a bit, promptly realizing that Cecil had gone completely mad.
"Vela…"
Before he could warn her, the girl who had just dragged the now-stable Horan to safety was caught unawares. Her whole upper body was slapped off with one of Cecil's humongous flesh appendages, and she died instantly!
"Hahahaha! Brother mine, how do you feel now?!" Cecil stared at the frozen look on Angora's face, laughing deafeningly and maniacally.
"Cecil."
Angora's voice was immeasurably calm, but profound fury was lurking just beneath that serenity. "There is only one reason for your failure."
He drew out his wand and aimed it straight at Cecil's face of malice. "And that's because you pissed me off!"


This is the tale of an earthling, who transmigrated as a dying third-rate god but somehow rose through the ranks, gaining followers and eventually causing the Fourth Great Apocalypse.

"Have you ever heard of the God of Games?"
"The God of Games..?" Eleena shook her head in puzzlement. "I have never heard of Him…"
"What if the God of Games could give you the power to defeat your enemies?" Xi Wei coaxed patiently.
Eleena remained silent for a while, before resolutely lifting her head and fixing her gaze on Xi Wei. "Then I am willing to become a believer of the God of Games!"
"Belief isn't something to only be spoken by mouth. Close your eyes and envision His name in your mind, and feel His power with your heart," he said solemnly.
"O Master of Games, grant us new life!"

Calester laughed at Emerald's embarrassed expression. Was there something to be self-conscious about? Calester finally put down his fork and knife, geturing the the servant he was finished and they can take his food away. Emerald, who had only taken a few bite, decided to do the same thing and put away her fork and knife. 

"Are you done eating, your Majesty?"

One of the servants who took notice of Emerald's small appetite asked in concern, thinking that the food was not to Emerald's liking. 

"Yes, thank you for the delicious food."

Emerald stood up from her seat slowly matching Calester's movement. Unexpectedly, Calester walked over to the maids that served the food and instructed them to bring some snacks to the Empress' chamber. Emerald didn't say anything, but she understood that the snack was meant for her. After a few exchanges, Calester came over to Emerald, who was about to leave. 
 
"Are you done eating?" 

"...Yes." 

"Then, I'll escort you to your room."

"Your Majesty?"

"Hurry up. I don't have all day."

Emerald looked at Calester strangely, but did not bother to ask or say anything. It seems that Calester has business to discuss and wanted to have more privacy. The two exited the dining hall, walking side by side. The Western Palace was not far and in no time, they had arrived at the door of Emerald's chamber. 

"I still want to ask you… do you write love letters..?"

"Why is the Empress so eager to know if I write love letters?"

"Does Lady Felon get to recieve your love letters?" 

"..."

The moment Calester heard the name of his past lover, the corner of his lips suddenly turned upside down. Calester was trying to avoid the topic of his past lover  due to it being an awkward topic between the two childhood friends. Contrast to Emerald's display of affection towards his brother, he was never open about his relationship with her. 

" I received an invitation from her a while ago…"

As they entered Emerald's receiving room, Calester did not respond. His eyes wandered to her desk that had files of opened letters. 'Is this why she was asking me about love letters?'


"Your birthday."

"What about it?" 

"Well, we have a few weeks to make arrangements. But, Count Alton informed me that our expenses are short, we are looking into funds from the previous funds to do comparisons and allocations." 

"I figured this would happen."

"..."

"Let's not celebrate it this year.. Don't worry about the budget. I'll talk to Count Alton about it." 

"I'm looking into our expenses from the last few years since Count Alton reported to me there are some budgets that we can allocate to this event." 

"More importantly…" 

Something caught Calester's eye when he walked over to Emerald's desk.  He took the folded sheet of paper that was laying on the desk and opened it. His heart sunked a little from the surprise. 'What's this…?' Unconsciously, his face became concerned and his brows furrowed. 

"What's wrong?" 

Emerald immediately asked after seeing Calester's expression changed. 

"Who gave you this?" 

His voice suddenly dropped. His eyes focused on the paper that was in his hands. For a moment, it felt like he couldn't hear anything except his slight breathing. 

"Who gave you this?..."

Emerald suddenly felt unable to respond. How can this person suddenly change mood as if there's a switch?  

"No man is welcome to send you tulips… unless he's your lover." 

Calester closed his eyes, shaking off the feeling of dissapointment. 'It should be none of my business.' he returned the paper back to the table, placing it with the other opened letters.
He smiled unwillingly and picked up the conversation from before. 

"Don't worry about the budget. Let's just set my birthday privately with my wife. That seems reasonable." 

"I thought you would like--"

"The people in the Palace seem to think we are not in a good relationship. This is for counter measure." 

"..right."

Emerald hesitantly agreed to his suggestion.

"His Majesty walked out the door without hearing your explanation?"

Kathleen shook her head as she learned of what happened. 

"Was his Majesty getting mad because of the tulip?"

"... I can't say if he's mad. I think it only meant that it was not him who'd sent it."

Emerald felt gloomy just remembering what happened that night. It was clearly a misunderstanding and she felt embarrassed for having stupid assumptions. She initially thought that the letter was sent by Calester, but upon his reaction, she quickly determined that it was not the case. From the back of her mind, she was already convinced that Calester was not the type to send a letter like that. But, a part of her was happy to receive such a thing. 

Kathleen breathed in and let out a small sighed, adjusting herself by sitting up straight. At the same time, Lucia, who was listening to the conversation, sensed Emerald's disappointment upon discovering the truth behind the letter. 

"Your highness, did you want to send some letters to Lady Balvides? She has been wondering when to hear from you." (Lucia) 

"Oh, that's right. I will do that. I have invitations to confirm too. Please bring them to me."

After sending out the acceptance letter, Emerald told her two ladies-in-waiting to accompany her as she took a break. They moved to the veranda of Emerald's chamber and each took a sit to the view of the Palace garden. 

"Your Majesty, look! it's the Emperor."

Kathleen pointed her finger weakly towards the direction of the garden. From where Emerald sat, there was a view of Calester back, accompanying a woman. 

"That dress… it doesn't seem familiar." (Kathleen) 

"She's our foreign guest from the South." (Lucia) 

Emerald quietly sipped her tea, ignoring the sight that she felt so familiar to her. It was like seeing a reflection of herself and Calisto, as Calester and Elisse walked alongside each other. The atmosphere between the pair seems intimate and friendly. But, Emerald stayed quiet as if she did not hear the exchanges between her two ladies-in-waiting. 

"Does she like him?" (Kathleen)

A question that seemed to pop out of nowhere, surprise Emerald. She thought she had spoken out loud when Kathleen seemed to have read her mind. From where they were, it was agreeable that the maiden seemed fond of the Emperor. 

"She can't be acting like that when she's from a different country… especially when she knows the Emperor is already married!" (Kathleen)

"Lady Kathleen… it's okay. His majesty is only doing this because of diplomatic relation to the South. We should not jump to conclusions." (Lucia) 

Emerald tightened her jaw, preventing herself to say any useless thing. It is better to not to get involved with his affairs as she did not want the situation to become complicated

Finally, a female heir  is born in the house of Duke's and Knights. The ancient contract can finally be fulfilled. 
 
"Once a female heir is born in the House of Arquilie, she will be recognized as the future Empress of East. She will marry into the house of De Morgues." 

For generations, there were only men born in the House of Arquilie, serving the Royal Family, House of De Morgues,  as the empire's most powerful weapon. The contract could  not be fulfilled to unite the two strongest household as House of  Arquilie could not be blessed with a female heir. 

The emperor once said, " My son, it is your duty to marry the Future Empress as this is your condition to be Emperor." 

Now, Emerald, the first generation, female heir of House of Arquilie , was promised to marry the Crowned Prince, First Prince Calisto. Emperor Callen had given the two permission to marry when Emerald reaches the age of 18.

One day, the Emperor commanded that the Crown Prince leave the country for a mission giving his First son two years to return, postponing the marriage between the two houses. More than 2 years later,  the Emperor became ill while the Crown Prince is still away. 

"Is Calisto finally coming back? I have been waiting all this time!" 

Emerald had to ask as she was excited of the news that the marriage will finally be happening as she will be turning 20 years old. But the truth was far from her expectation as the Second Prince turns out to become her marriage partner, asking her hand for marriage. 

"I need you to be my wife.... I am asking you because you are aware of the contract between our family. You should know what it means."

I was resting in the dormitory with Rachel when we heard a knock on my window. We were on the fifth floor no student or teacher would knock on the window they will knock the door.
Was it a pervert or another one of Rachel's self-proclaimed lovers?
Why does she have lovers you ask? because she plays the role of silent beauty and her beautifully innocent face adds to her charm.
Do you think I am exaggerating?
Then you could always see her seat in the morning. It is filled with hundreds of letters of various colours.
some are challenges and threat letters from the jealous girl but the majority are love letters written by love stuck fools.
On the first day of the Academy, she was proposed by the third son of a noble, first son of the merchant, our tactical combat teacher, second daughter of the Viscount and the count increase by every passing day but if she were to speak.
Rachel-" When will the king call me to his bed"
Almost half of the class would fall dead after hearing this. she has been confessed many times but has rejected all of them she is solely devoted to her king Valor.
I don't know what is this king and queen business but the least I know is that she is the  is the granddaughter of  the famous Count Dracula, Arnold Valhein but I came to know of one thing and that is she isn't very sharp as who in their right mind  would use their original name for registering in the Academy She could have used an alias but she used her complete name even the Valhein part but there is some house with a similar name so she wasn't caught but that was still pretty careless of her. 
There is sometimes a change of personality whenever someone badmouths Valor her eyes turn blood red and she gives a killing vibe.
It is pretty difficult to control her then but I have managed so far.
If she is this emotional I wonder how will she manage the whole dominion business in which people who want to succeed the count have been assigned an area, they have to develop their dominion and defeat other dominions into submission.
I may say succeeding a count but his position is no less than a king and he has enough power to keep the invincible holy army in check. 
A feat even the royal family can't accomplish.
The royal family has built power by their magic knight's program. 
They established a whole new institute for their magic knight's brigade but will they stand up to the might of holy knights is a question of the future. The heroes they summoned have been freed from their grasps and only a few remain with them. Even though I call them heroes they are nothing more than fools who overestimate themselves. 
They have excellent growth no doubt but that's all they have they don't have the instinct of the fighter and still have the peaceful mindset of their previous world. The hero that visited our territory before I left it was busy making passes on me. 
He fought the monster without sweating but he was hesitating when fighting a bandit. 
He had many chances but was missing them on purpose he was not giving a final strike on them and when our knights killed those bandits he was making a face as he would vomit soon. 
These so-called heroes were treating the battle as a game. 
They were swinging a sword but they didn't knew the weight behind that swing.
The knocking had become strong being annoyed I opened the window.
I saw a little girl floating in air. Some kids are capable of using magic but I only know one kid proficient enough for flight magic at this attitude
Leona- " You have grown Nina "
The person knocking was not any pervert or love
struck but my little sister Nina she was my only blood sisters as the others were from different mothers.
She has a high aplitude in magic like me and is already highly capable of wind magic.
Even I was not that strong when I was at her age 
I can say with proud that she is my little sister.
But what she was doing in the royal capital
so far form our territory all alone. As I was fretting Nina with questions 
???- "Spare the child, Leona"
I heard a familiar voice from my window a girl in her twenty's was sitting at the window.
Leona-"Did you bring her?"
???- "Sure I did"
I went and hugged her and I don't know why but tore started to run down my cheek
Leona-"Where in the world you disappeared to for three years "
???- " To find answers"
She replied while hugging me
Leona-"What did you find?"
???-"Nothing is true"
Nothing is true so did she didn't find anything was her trip wasted?
Leona-"You didn't found anything?"
???- " I sure found enough to keep going on, leave that tell me more about your partner is he good?"
Leona -" Didn't I already told you about him in the letters"
???- "At least tell me his name"
Leona-" You are persistent his name is Va-"
A sudden sound of the explosion stopped me it came near the dorms of Knights Academy 
???-" Probably some fool trying his new moves"
That may be possible but it definitely sounds like an explosion some moment later a huge wall of flames erupted and sound of an explosion soon followed.
Leona-"You must leave now or they will suspect you!"
Nana-" Big sis "
Nana said while making a crying face.
I don't want to part with my dear sister but the situation doesn't allow it.
???-" Big sis will meet you again if you are a good girl"
Nana-"Nana will be a good girl"
I Patted my little sister and left the room with Rachel.
On reaching the site of the explosion I saw people calling Valor a playboy. 
I forgot about the explosion and wanted to spend some private time with Valor.
Looking at Christina I also think she would also want some answers.
That night came to an end with the girl in question disappearing and Valor claiming helping the girl but I didn't believe the obvious lie.
The next day was pretty uneventful and silent 
but I had a uneasy feeling that it is was the silence before the storm.

Dear Fans,
So I hope that you're enjoying the character breakdowns and again since this was typed out before any of the last letters could release for you to even read I've opted to use a character who really wasn't given much light or background in the book o far. But first lets discuss the updates with my other projects.
First lets talk about this story that you're currently reading. As you've noticed I managed to release a chapter a day the whole month of April. Now these daily releases did include these letters to you, the fan. I will be dropping back to just weekly releases this month. The releases will remain on every Tuesday at 08:00 system time with letters like these release the same day (at 08:05 system time) as the tenth chapter in that rotation. The reason for dropping back down to the just Tuesday releases is because I've had to give a little more focus towards my book "Love & Law" as well as my other projects.
So as you've read Marcus has now turned eighteen and now the adventures may begin. The next ten chapters will still have Marcus and Rebekah in it but will be centered around finding and recruiting the Thief. The stage has been set now is the hour for the Thief to be made known.
Next there is the before mentioned "Love & Law" which lunched it's fourth volume of of seven planned volumes still on track for April. Again just like the rest of my books this book has dropped down to one chapter a week (Monday at 08:00 system time) this month and will remain that way for a while if not the remainder of its life with the rare exception that I decided to give it a month of daily releases but I honestly don't see that happening any time. Volume four continues the story of Todd Kutsine and Marcus Snow and their friends with some appearances of the other characters. It is planned to only be the set twenty-four chapters but we'll just have to wait and see.  
The next book I wish to give you an update on is "Cursed Love: A Haunting Tale of Two Cursed Souls". This book I've also enjoyed building and adding to it. Our friends will continue their journey, but struggle to do so. Now, this book was planned to go premier but for som reason never did, yet I am working on it and really hope you've enjoyed reading this book as much as I've enjoyed writing it. This book however will more then likely not be put on the schedule for daily releases at least until one or two of my other books are completely finished. This is mostly because of the work it takes to keep things as realistic as possible since I want the dates to line up with the dates in the year it takes place. So it will continue to release weekly on Wednesday at 08:00 system time.
Along with these three books I currently have a book that releases on a separate platform every Saturday. This book is titled "Love Paradox" and unfortunately I can't list the platform because odds are the system would just censor it away anyways. This story has almost reached fifteen percent complete. It involves time travel and romance as well as a little violence and drama. I've also considered this for a daily release as well but the platform for which it is one does their pay system different for daily releases as it also has to reach a set word count for the month. So I'm still working on the details of this one to make it fit thus for now it will only have a weekly release as well (Saturday)
Finally I will touch on a few outside projects. First is the series of five children's chapter books with its first spin-off temporally put on delay. I'm a little tied up with a new series I had wish to release one book annually starting with April of this year (as long as the first book finishes the editing process by then) for the next seven years with the final book being released during the time period in which all of the books take places. But it hit a few road blocks thus pushing the release date back to late spring early summer. Also with that I am currently working on three separate card slash board games. One is a simple family card game while the second one is a trading card type game and the last one is a complex trading card slash role playing table top type board game.
Other then that I get to update you on some of my fan fictions. The first is the one I know everyone here is waiting for an update on and that is "Pokemon Professor Foxx". The next season (volume) is still scheduled to start releasing in May or June and will release every Thursday at 08:00 system time. I do apologize for the delays in it but as you can see I'm a little tied up at the moment fulfilling other projects. Thus the extra push to complete one of my other books. The second fan fiction isn't on this platform at this time and it is a holiday special cross over style book and may be brought over closer to the end of the year if I have time because I do still wish to release it on the other platform as well.
Now before I go and you get to the character bio I promised you for this letter I just wanted to give you an estimate chapter run down for each book listed here that doesn't include the outside projects. Thus only the ones that release chapters one at a time.

Now these numbers are subject to change as I write the stories for instance "Cursed Love: A Haunting Tale of Two Cursed Souls was originally going to be five volumes of twenty chapters each but as I got writing I needed more chapters before shifting to the next volume thus leading to the added twenty-five chapters there. As for "Love & Law" that to may vary as though I plan for each volume to have twenty-four chapters each and a total of seven volumes, the last volume is meant to be mostly "deleted" chapters from the other volumes. This may change by the time I get closer to the end if I think I need another volume to wrap up the story or not.
Then for "Love Paradox" it's more of reaching a set word count of 200,000 before wrapping the book up and each chapter averages around 1,000 words but who knows how quick the little bits of extra will add up and I might shave a few chapters off of it. That leaves the one you're more then likely concerned about and that it "Last Paladin". Now this book is currently only planned to have four volumes of thirty chapters each, but seeing as we one third of the way through the second volume and Marcus is just now twelve years old I have a feeling that this book may be getting adjusted we'll just have to wait and see were we are at the end of volume two. With that said the chapter count doesn't include the letters to you the fans because there will be three letters per volume times four volumes gives you twelve letters in total at this time.
So without any further delay lets move onto the character biography slash discription section of this letter. Our Character for this letter will be Sophie. The lovely red hare with green eyes. She is the secret lover of Ginny Wolfheart, daughter of the mayor of the village where Marcus was born and the future wife of Judah's future secret lover. She was born in the village and was really one of the only ones who accepted Rebekah and was the one who got Ginny and Rebekah to be friends.
She would later be one of the few from the village who'd send secret letters to Marcus concerning his future. Oh she is also secret warrioress of the temple of Ono and will later reveal her true self to Marcus and the others but only after helping them from time to time. But enough of her for now we must return to our tale and for that we will continue the journey as our heroes once more move on with their journey.


Darkness rules the land since the sacred order of the Paladin vanished for to the point their tales are now but legends and none now live who’ve seen a Paladin let alone known someone who has. Maybe they never really existed but if they do the people of Arcadia Nine could really use their help.

After stating his current status, Joshua continued to speak despite the crowd's sudden uproar.
"I'm sure that someone within the crowd already knows my identity. However, today's topic is not about me. You may not have noticed but my father, the previous count has passed away due to an accident. As such, my uncle seized the opportunity to take over this land by force. He even expelled my knights and planned to steal my ownership of this land."
"All of you may remember the group of patrollers under my uncle's control swaggering on our streets, but fear not as they no longer exist within this city now and would never come back again." Joshua paused for a bit, waiting for the crowd to digest the information given. When the time came, he said, "That was because I had already slain them all."
When Joshua spoke, everyone went silent. What follows next was a sudden, unexpected cheer from the crowd. All the civilians that had gathered were once bullied and threatened by the new patrol. Even though it was winter, it should not be the main cause for civilians to keep off the streets. People of the north were considered honest and simple. Under normal circumstances, they would not do anything that would harm the interest of the city. However, if the days where they would have to live in fear continued, even if they were the people of the north, they would consider taking some underhanded actions against the arrogant patrol. However, since the current lord of the land had already taken care pests, it had turned into a very favorable event for the people to celebrate.
For the current lord to declare his actions of murder directly to the people, it had proven that Joshua was a strong person. Only the strong could lead the knights and soldiers to go against the Dark Tide. Only the strong could protect their own territory. Since the new count had already shown his strength and courage, the people happily acknowledged him as their lord and cheered for him.
Amidst the roars, Joshua stated, "My people, today you may all live the way you have like the past. You are free to travel within the land. All of those who had suffered mistreatment in the past, you will be compensated by coming to the St. Laurent to receive your compensation. However, do not try to make up lies during the process as the priest under the God of Justice would be watching. Finally, families with newborns this year will be able to enjoy one year of tax exemption. That's all."
Joshua waved his hand at the crowd and left the stage. With all these announcements being made, the crowd had gone into a state of excitement and cheered happily.
"Ying, let's go. The following work will be managed by Artanis."
"Yes, Master."
On the 15th of November, also known as the month of Frost and Snow. Six days after the declaration.
The cold season spread throughout the land, freezing up all the things you could see out in the open. Farms and barns were all covered in white snow. The farmers had already harvested the last batch of plants which were more resistant towards the cold. Even all the cattle had been stationed in their respective huts. All the civilians were prepared to embrace this cold period.
The Mycroft Continent of Continental War was positioned from the furthest north of the Lost Sea all the way to the south sea of Cliff's End. Every acre of land in between was unbelievably fertile. The growth of plants was also affected by magic, causing rapid growth and propagation. Both of the factors combined had caused quite a problem for humans to deal with. These factors were the source of disasters which had eventually created the Dark Forest.
Other than the humans' seat of power, all the fortresses dotting the borders of human civilization were being threatened by the existence of the Dark Forest. The never-ending proliferation of the Dark Forest invaded human territories like a plague, birthing numerous daemons. It did not take long for them to amass and assault humanity, forming the Dark Tide which spread terror and destruction to countless settlements. All the blood and corpses from the war further cultivated the Dark Forest as fertilizer, nourishing it with energy. The plants and trees within the forest seemed to be cursed. It would only take them three years to grow more than ten meters tall. Within this forest which was covered up by all these tall trees, different types of plants grew within the forest, creating a scenery resembling an alternate world.
The fortress near the border which was located near the Dark Forest was surrounded by a large forest with numerous daemons invading from time to time. Behind this fortress, there was only a single road filled with bones and blood, acting as the only passageway to human civilization.
Due to the extreme weather in the north, it was still considered stable for the time being. Due to the extreme cold, the plants grew slowly, on contrast with the rate of deforestation.Thus the threat of the Dark Forest to Moldavia was far less compared to the pressure that was faced by the Empire in the south.
However, every occurrence had their pros and cons. Due to the characteristic of the plants and land, the quality of life of the civilians was not as harsh as it seemed to be. At the very least, the civilians in this world were much blessed as compared to the lives of people in Joshua's other world. Due to the current nature of the environment, the people who lived in this world did not suffer from famine. The food supplied in this world was comparable to weeds in Joshua's previous world. An acre of land could easily produce three seasons worth of wheat as compared to the previous world within one year. Despite having such extreme weather in the north, it was still capable to produce at least two seasons worth of wheat easily. There were also incidences where mutation occured on the wheat, causing mages and druids to come over and control their growth rate.
Tending livestock such as goats and cows could also be a challenge as they could be affected by the magic energy and return to their wild nature. Despite having this challenge, cows and goats had very rapid growth rates as compared to those of the other world. With sufficient amount of food, they could easily transition from the status of a newborn within a period of two weeks. After approximately nine months, this livestock would be mature enough and be ready to be processed for consumption. This growth rate could be considered to be unbelievably fast. Given the fact that this was the world of magic, all the strange occurrences were considered normal, compared to the other world.
In a certain mansion located west of the city, Joshua was sitting inside a room, reading pages and pages of letters while furrowing his brows.
After becoming the new lord of Moldavia, his life could not be classified as 'extremely busy' as the order of the city and other chores were maintained by his subordinates. Knights were also stationed to monitor all the executives which were responsible for their respective task.
The real headache for Joshua would be the letters received.
Being the new successor and lord of Moldavia, Joshua received abundant letters from different nobles of the empire. Not only that, the letters of devotion from the knights of Moldavia was also another great task for Joshua to handle. Each and every one of those letters must be replied carefully based on the history of relationship and ranks. In addition to that, Joshua had to reply in different ways so that duplication would not occur. This act would be considered as the minimum requirement for etiquette among the nobles.
Joshua had never done these sort of tasks in his other life. It was continuous torture for him to actually reply all those letters. There were times where Joshua nearly smashed his table into pieces and called it a day. Only by utilizing all of his patience and determination was he able to endure the horrendous responsibility.
"Darn it, the mansion had already been wrecked and all the previous employees were chased away by my stupid uncle. They are most probably resting in their homes so I guess I won't be able to summon them within such a short period."
With great difficulty, Joshua was able to reply a letter from a random marquis elegantly. After that, he could finally put down his pen and take a sip of tea, relaxing his mind.
All the servants of the previous count had scattered thanks to Danlya. Most of them have already returned to their own villages. Joshua was left with no choice but to do all these tasks by himself. Joshua would probably have to continue this pace of living until spring. Looking on the bright side, Joshua only needed to reply each letter once.
"Master, here is another batch of letters for you."
Ying's energic voice could be heard all the way from the main hall. Currently, she had no other task to do other than sending Joshua more letters and occasional food.
"My god, another letter..."
Joshua could no longer endure this lifestyle. After stumbling for a few seconds, he thought of some brilliant ideas and shouted towards the direction of the main hall, "Ying, if you receive any letters next time, open it up and see it for yourself. If they are not important, you could just reply them as you see fit."
"Am I really allowed to read these letters? They look very expensive to me."
Ying held onto a fancy envelope, with edges coated with gold, straight towards Joshua's study room. By looking into Joshua with her green eyes firmly, she said, "I doubt I'm suitable to read and reply this letter, I guess?"
"... Well, give me that one. You can take care of the others."
Joshua stood up and received the fancy envelope.
"I believe that your writing skill might even be better than mine."
Joshua spoke the truth. Despite Ying's youthful appearance, her database was slightly outdated, which included the language of the Empire. Having complete knowledge of the Empire's language would definitely be much beneficial as compared to Joshua who had a brain built with only muscles. Ying could definitely reply the letters in different ways without any difficulty.
Joshua opened the fancy envelope in his hand and withdrew a platinum invitation card.
