Chris plotted for the first half of summer classes to get his hands on his own dorm room. 

With all the best apartments packed full for summer classes, Chris set a precedent by getting his own self attained single room that was meant for two.

Just as he gets ready to bathe in his glorious achievement, he meets Catherine in the elevator.

She was out of his league but he braved up and asked her out - only to get rejected.

He planned to forget about it for the rest of his life.
But fate had other plans.

Karl was always attentive when conducting the Perl Initiative Admission tests and the best part of it, to him, was that the students had leeway to surprise him. Especially in the creativity test since the tests were designed to have many methods to solve them. The method used could usually give a little insight into the person who used it and sometimes the method used to solve a certain task may not have even been anticipated by the examiner, however this was not one of those times. Both the Von Jaeger siblings had used common methods to solve the problem.

Nicholas had used his Dimensia to strengthen his physical body, allowing him to break the lock, whereas Emilia had used Dimensia to move the mechanisms inside the lock, unlocking it without having to even touch it. That required a certain level of control and understanding which was rarely found in even Growth level students so it was surprising to see it from an 8 year old girl. Nicholas' method was comparatively much simpler, and pretty average for a student in the Perl Initiative, but that didn't mean it wasn't impressive on it's own.

After a brief period of assessing the results, Karl walked back to the siblings who were seated at the table and informed them of the final verdict.

"Congratulations Emilia and Nicholas Von Jaeger, you have both been accepted into the Perl Initiative."

Nicholas jumped up in joy, he was both surprised and excited to be able to be part of something that could help him prove his worth.

"Emilia we did it!" He said as he almost jumped on his sister, being stopped at the last minute by Robert. At this he collected himself but he still couldn't hide the giddiness that shone through in his smile and his bouncing feet.

Emilia smiled at her brother, it was always so heart warming when she saw him react so animatedly to everything. A dark thought about how her sister used to be the same clouded her expression for a second before being wiped away. Only at the end of her life had she realised that her sister was not who she thought she was... and no that betrayal did not make her an expert in spotting fake affections like in so many other novels. This was why she was originally so reluctant to accept her current family. However, her reluctance was softened like the banks of a river over the course of the years.

"Yes, we did." Emilia said, aiming a beautiful smile at Nicholas and then Mr. Silverbach.

"Congratulations once again, I must be going now. I still have some other matters to tend to. Ms. Hathaway here will be your guide for the rest of the day." Mr. Silverbach said as he gestured to a beautiful brunette that was standing by his side. She had her, seemingly, long hair tied up in a bun and a pair of black framed glasses perched on her nose. Her rose-coloured eyes seemed slightly larger due to the magnifying power of the glasses. Emilia had once wondered about the strange hair and eye colours in this world but had originally chalked it up to being a game-world. However, since she found out that it most probably was not just a game world, she decided that she would have to revisit the thought.

"Thank you for your time." Emilia stood up and curtsied, Nicholas hurried to follow and bow "Y-yeah, thank you." he said.

"Please, there's no need to be so formal." Mr. Silverbach hurried to correct. "I shall be taking my leave now." he then bowed at them and left the room, his silver hair shining as he left the room.

"Greetings Lady Emilia and Lord Nicholas, my name is Morgan Hathaway and I will be your guide around the Initiative. There are a few things to inform you about so please have a seat and get comfortable." The two siblings greeted Ms. Hathaway and then took their seats as she had instructed them.

Ms. Hathaway was wearing a casual-work outfit made up of a white button up blouse with a blue tie and black slacks and a long blue coat. It looked comfortable, fashionable and professional. Another observation that Emilia had made about this world was that though it resembled old Europe on Earth, it was not the same. Here clothing was more flexible and ankles were not considered sexual. Women could wear pants and sports wear as well and some formal wear was form-fitting but not to the extent that modern Earth designs were.

"The Perl Initiative was started by Hubert Thornwell, a leading figure in Alfenheim's history. He also created the scholarship system to support students who are not as financially-able. The vision that Mr. Thornwell had was to create a haven for knowledge and innovation and he has succeeded through the creation of this prestigious program.

The Perl Initiative offers various privileges for it's members however it also poses a lot of challenges. I shall now elaborate on these. Some of the benefits that the initiative provides is the option to switch out courses that are mandatory for regular students with courses that are offered in the list of courses here." She handed two prints of a list, one each, to the siblings.

"This can be done in two ways, the first would be to show that you have a complete understanding of the mandatory subject that you wish to swap out through a test. If you do not wish to do this there is the second option of propositioning the Director of the Perl Initiative, that is Mr. Silverbach. You may present your reasoning for wanting the change and any other formalities, if he agrees then the change will be approved.

Another benefit is the chance to take up extra classes, this can be done in two scenarios. Every year students have a fixed number of classes, for this year you have 3 classes, if you wish to take an extra class the first way to do so would be to complete one of the regular classes ahead of schedule, through an exam. The exam may be scheduled at the perl information desk in your respective lounges. The second method allows you to take up an extra class beside your current classes, however, a restriction of only 1 extra class at a time is placed in this scenario.

As mentioned previously, early exams and tests are also one of the benefits along with various facilities like lounges, gyms, pools and other recreational areas. The initiative also allows you to propose a project for undertaking. It could be research or experimental however it has to be approved by the Academic Coordinator for the Initiative, that would be me, and sometimes the Vice Principle, Mr. Silverbach.

Moving on to the challenges, every year various competitions are held in the initiative including ones in magic, literature, the arts, economics, sports, etiquette, sciences and more. Another competition is held between all students who have proposed a project, this one has two categories, group and solo. If any member of the initiative does not place within the top 15% in any of the above mentioned competitions then he or she will be on probation for a month where they will have to prove that they deserve to stay. This is done to build competitive spirit and encourage students to constantly improve as well as to manage resources.

That is about it for the basics, the rest will be written in the guidebook here." Ms. Hathaway said as she handed one to each of the students. She didn't really expect them to understand most of what she said, they were only 8 after all, Perl students or not. The information was part of due process and would mostly be only for the attendants who will then help the students get accustomed to them.

As expected, Nicholas' eyes were hazy and unfocused. He had no idea about most of what she said and what he did understand, he was sure, he wouldn't remember. Thankfully Robert had a pretty good understanding of the whole explanation. Emilia, on the other hand, was pleasantly surprised at how well thought-out this program was. Despite not having the option to skip a grade, it seemed very well-structured and allowed students to study at their own pace. As she was looking through the guide book she was very impressed by various things, one of them being that the initiative offered guidance counselling sessions where students will be advised on what might be the best course for them depending on their previous results and current preferences. This may even be better than skipping grades as it is more inclusive and customisable, despite the expected heavy administrative paperwork that came with such a program she found it hard to understand why such a system was not on Earth, as far as she knew.

"Now we will take a brief tour of the building and then I will show you to your dorms." Ms. Hathaway said as she pushed her glasses higher on her nose. "Please follow me."

The two siblings got up and followed her out of the room with Robert and Clara trailing behind them. After a long and tiring tour of the building they finally exited it to head towards the dorms. They exited the building through a door right opposite the one they used to enter it. This door lead to a large courtyard with two buildings on each side, presumably the dorms. The three buildings were shaped like a "U" with the main building being in the middle, the other two on the sides and the courtyard in the middle. The courtyard had a lot of table and chair sets with various decorations among the greenery such as fountains and lights, almost like an outdoor cafe. There was a walkway that wound around the park-like area and connected the three buildings.

"The building on the left is the male dormitory and the one on the right is the female dormitory. You are not allowed to enter the dorms of the other gender however you are allowed to visit in the visiting lounges that are present in both buildings. And finally, curfew is at 8PM for Foundation students and 10PM for Growth students once classes start. For this week the curfew for both academic levels is 10PM." Ms. Hathaway explained.

"Lord Nicholas, this is your Dorm Manager, Mr. Connor Scala." She introduced a man with mop-like blonde hair that had walked up to them.

"Good afternoon." He said with a slight bow. The siblings greeted the man both in turn.

"He shall show you to your dorm and I shall show Lady Emilia, please follow him." Ms. Hathaway informed Nicholas.

Nicholas was a bit nervous to be on his own in such a place, especially since it would be the first time that he was truly separated from anyone in his family. Having Robert was a slight comfort but did not help calm him very much.

Emilia noticed her brother's discomfort and spoke up to calm him down. "Nick, how about we have dinner together at the cafeteria after settling in? We'll meet here at 8:00 and then go there together."

Nicholas nodded rapidly. "Okay!" he said, a little more comfortable to be alone now that he was reassured of seeing his sister soon.

With that the two said their temporary good byes and headed to their respective dorms.

"The students from both Foundation and Growth stay in the same dorm and occupy all floors, the room that you are assigned will be yours for the rest of your academic life with Kleure Academy unless you request a change. Oh, here we are, room 403." Ms. Hathaway said, taking them up the floors in an enchanted lift-like device that was powered by magic and walking them down a hallway to stop in front of a door with a golden plaque with the numbers "403" on it.

After entering the room Ms. Hathaway informed Emilia that her luggage should already be here, along with her student necessities, including books and a student card which could be used to store currency as well as access doors, like a hotel key card and a debit card in one, it also acted as a proof of identity. She also mentioned that the dorm building for attendants were right behind the respective student dorms and there was a direct link between the attendant and student rooms in the form of a magic wall mounted phone-like device in every room to make communication convenient.

After Ms. Hathaway left, Emilia sat down at the tea table while Clara waited on her, she went through the list of courses that were available for Foundation students:

After going through the list she decided on a few she would like to do and a few that she wanted to inquire about, making a note of them. She put the note away and went to her room where Clara had already unpacked all her things. She put on some more comfortable clothes and left the room to meet Nicholas and head to the cafeteria together.

As she stood, about to open the door, she heard noises from the other side. Fearing the worst but expecting the most dangerous, she grabbed the gun she kept with her and opened the door with a bang, praying that it was not what she thought it was.

Upon witnessing her fiancé lying in bed naked with her equally naked sister above him she dropped the gun and took a slight step back, horrified. He was the first, and only, man she loved in her life and he was in bed with her little sister who she trusted most, only after her grandfather.

"This engagement is now broken. I have no relation whatsoever to you," She glared at her ex-fiancé with frost seeping into her heart, promising to get her grandfather to rescind his condition, and then shifted her gaze to her sister. "As for you, you are dead to me."

She started to walk away when she heard a shrill scream, she turned around just in time to see her sister pick up the gun she dropped and shoot it into her chest. Leah let out a scream from the pain shooting through her body.

Emilia woke to darkness and the feeling of her surroundings closing in on her. In the distance she heard voices but couldn't make out what they were saying.

Suddenly a blinding light invaded her vision along with a distant sound of an infant crying. Vaguely realizing that the cries were her own, caused by the burn of the light to her sensitive eyes, she looked around to find that she was in what seemed to be a hospital room. She was being carried by a woman with brilliant violet hair and beautiful blue eyes that were focused on her.

They say going away from home by yourself for studies is like turning a page in your life. So I guess I'm indeed turning a page in my life.

Past few weeks were crazy but amazing. From a person who never ran in the entire 17 years, I now have a daily routine of jogging 3.5 -5 miles almost every day, thanks to the persistence of Charles. After the jogging, a little bit of stretching and am back to regular life. 

Wow! I can't imagine the change which Charles has instilled in me. After the initial burst out, Dad and Charles convinced me that Charles will not do anything to endanger his life and will push himself only within his limit. After my mom passed away, I cannot think of missing another person. 

Guess I was crazy, not them. Last week, I accompanied Charles to the sports convention at indoor stadium and happened to meet other "crazy" people. That happened to be like a stadium full of them!

Over these two weeks I learned that unlike the mileage of a car which is mentioned in km/hr, a person's running speed is mentioned as minute per miles or minute per km. These people say ""hey you did 5 per km, amazing!!""
I didn't understand a single thing. Later Charles explained that it is the speed at which you cover a km or a mile for that matter.

Anyway, am on my way to my university. Nila and Charles have  already reached theirs, my flight was in the morning , now I'm on the way to MIT in a bus . What's my new life holding out for me? Am indeed turning a fresh page of my life. Autumn was in her own world of thoughts.

The travel in the bus was pretty much event less. As the sun started it's descent we reached the university. Autumn checked in straight to the hostel. 

During the Campus preview weekend the undergraduates get to visit different dorms, interact with the residents and learn as much as possible about each dorm. Instead of visiting Autumn has chosen from the Residence Hall section of university website to list her preferences. 

You can list down your preferences from where you'd most like to live to least like to live. But it seems kind of sophisticated algorithm matches the student preferences with available housing. 

Alan had suggested and accordingly highest preference was given to McCormack But
 Autumn got her dorm in Maseeh Hall.   Masseh Hall is a co-ed one.  The freshmen got to share the room as it was doubles, triples or quads available for them. 

Autumn got a  triples room that means she will be getting two new room mates. She was apprehensive if the new room mates will get with her or not. One of her roommate Merin Alfred was already in the room . By the look of things in various stages of unpacking, it seems Merin had reached the dorm at least in the morning. 

The other bed seemed untouched. Means the third room mate is yet to check in. Looking at the time, it is likely that the third one might be checking in may be by tomorrow morning.

Merin was deep in her tab with earphones plugged into her ears, when Autumn entered the room. Merin looked up from her tab and then checked the timing as if somehow Autumn was late. Then she realised, Merin was not checking on Autumn's check in time. instead she was checking if it is time for dinner. 

"Just about time one of you joined me. I was going nuts sitting alone."  Both of them introduced themselves and Merin guided Autumn to the common washrooms for Autumn to freshen up. "All the floors have shared bathrooms at the end of the hall. and do hurry up. We have 15 minutes for the dinner. In 10 minutes I will be out of this room. That means you better hurry freshen up in less than 10 minutes" , Merin stated very seriously but the twinkling in her eyes showed that she was joking. 

Not bothering to unpack, Autumn just washed her face and tied up her hair in a ponytail. She did not bother for any make up just a lip gloss and she was ready to go. Merin was impressed with the speed at which Autumn got ready. 

As Autumn was traveling for most part of the day, she was hungry and welcomed Merin's enthusiasm for dinner. 

" Do you know this is a 119 year old building? it is said to have some secret passage ways. And may be the good mother with the  magic wand pops in through that! Now that if you look at it, it does look like Hogwart's in Harry Potter right? What would I not give to get a magic wand in hand." Merin said dreamily. 

Then all of a sudden she changed the topic. "Are you  allergetic towards dogs?" Merin took a breath after pausing. Autumn was wondering how Merin manage to talk so much without taking a breath. She smiled as she thought that maybe that is Merin's super power. That and her ability to talk about multiple things jumping from one to other without blinking an eye. Autumn almost laughed out thinking about it.

"No, why?" Autumn asked. I don't like dogs per se. But don't you panic if you see Mickey. By the way our dining room.is called Howards. It rhymes with Hogwart's. right?" Merin continued her chatter.  After a bit Autumn tuned out and just casually send a smile or a nod whenever Merin looked at her.  It is ideal to agree to Merin rather than stating her opinion. Autumn wondered this is how  Merin expended her energy. 

They had a common dining area . The picture of a phoenix was drawn in several  places. Merin said , " You know that Tim the beaver is our mascot at university, right. The phoenix is the mascot of Maseeh hall."

As they reached the dining  hall, Mr. Carroll and Ms.Flynn, house masters at Masseh hall , were welcoming all undergraduates to Masseh Hall. As they started explaining the do's and don't's, Merin started whining for food. 

"The rules are regulations are given everywhere. Why are they wasting our time? phew, it's over. Come, let's get our dinner."  They went over the counter and picked their selection of food. "The cutlery is over there", pointed Merin.  Autumn looked at her thankfully. Merin just shrugged."I came just after the breakfast . So had a bit time to unpack, and then explore. Do you know this doem is the the only meal plan hall which is also open for lunch".

"I also met some others during lunch time. Come let's go to the boys. I will introduce you to someone. " Merin said.  She stopped suddenly and looked at Autumn and asked. "Are you single? or do you have any boyfriend at home? No, don't bother. even if you have, it won't survive more than 2 months. Max 3 months. so you are single got it? Now come. "

" The lobby of Maseeh Hall is architecturally notable for its spacious vaulting and mosaic decorations made of Guastavino tile", said a blond to the boy with  chocolate hair.  "Hey guys, did you start without me?" Merin pouted.  

" No babe, I was just telling the architectural significance of our lobby to James.", said the blond. " Don't babe me Chris. Am not your babe. And hello Noah. By the meet my friend and dorm mate Autumn. Autumn has taken the same stream as yours, James". 

Chris got up from his place and very chivalrously pulled out a chair. Observing this Noah also jumped up and pulled another chair near them. Autumn observed that while Chris seemed to be wooing Merin, James seems very nervous. Merin took the chair offered by Chris. Chris jumped in to the seat near her. 

James nervously looked at all three of them as if he didn't know what to say or do. Autumn smiled at James and took the chair he offered . Thus four of them melded into a harmony of new friendship...

"Hmm, Irvine Lang is it...?" The university student in front of him took the invitation letter and ID card that Irvine had prepared beforehand as she tried to input his data to the computer.
 
When she'd heard his name the first time, the female student had felt that it was slightly familiar, a feeling that had caused her to space out a little at the start.
 
"Is there a problem?"
 
Seeing the unusual reaction, the senior male student next to her also came to approach and check on the situation.
 
"Nn, Not really, I just found his name somewhat familiar." She whispered in a lower voice so Irvine who was standing in front of them couldn't hear.
 
"Maybe he's a famous athlete, ours is a reputed university in many fields, there's bound to be a few well-known people coming here every year."
 
"Not that! You know me, I don't follow any kinds of sports."
 
"Well, still. Just process him first alright?"
 
"Right."

"...There, it's done! And with that, I officially welcome you to Ravenville, freshman!"
 
"Thank you."
 
"Is it all over? Or is there still something else I should do?" Irvine thanked his would be seniors for their services before asking what to do next.
 
"You're welcome! We've assigned you to Building-19 for your dorm this year, all you need to do now is just to connect your student ID with the building and your room, the building manager on the first floor can help you with this."
 
"You see, the student ID is used for pretty much everything here in campus. They double as a key card to many of the accessible facilities, and you can also put money in it to pay for most things." The male student added a little more explanation on the ID's function.
 
"Oh, and here it is. Your student ID card." At the end, he took out a plate of plastic card fresh from the printer with Irvine's photo, name, year, and student number on it.
 
"You can take it to your dorm first. You need to put away your luggage before doing anything else right?"
 
"Yes. Once again, thanks very much for this." Irvine gave a light nod to his two seniors.
 
"No problem. We're already schoolmates here so good luck!"
 
Irvine promptly proceeded to walk away from the counter after receiving the card and the documents back.
 
As advised, he was planning to go check out his dorm room and walk around the campus for a while before going to the prearranged meeting with the Battle Arena team in the afternoon.
 
'My first destination is the dorm building. Where is it again, Building-19...'
 
Irvine took out a brochure-shaped map of the campus ground from his pocket. An indispensable item for any new students unfamiliar with the school.
 
'Hm, it's not that far... I could just run there from here--'
 
"AH!"
 
However, before he had the time to walk outside of the administration building, a loud yell was heard from the direction behind him.
 
At first, he thought it was from the senior student back at the counter. But when he turned around, he saw that a moustached man in a suit was looking at him anxiously.
 
Following the shout, the man walked quickly to his side as he put out his hand for a shake.
 
"Mister Lang! Very sorry I'm late, I'm supposed to be showing you around the campus after you've finished the registration!"
 
"Ah, don't worry about it. I don't think there's any need to--"
 
"No no! I insist! This is the least we could do since you've decided to come to our humble university. Hahaha!"
 
"Well--"
 
"The name's Robert, but you can just call me Bob! No need for honorifics, I'm one of the university's staff in charge of handling the student athletes here in Ravenville."
 
"...Nice to meet you Bob."
 
"Now, let me take you to your dorm first before we go around the rest of the campus. I'll introduce you to all the important facilities until the afternoon when you're supposed to have your gathering with the team. Shall we go with my car?"
 
The whole time, Irvine hadn't been able to get a word in edgewise with the man. He ended up getting dragged outside by him following Bob's own pace.
 
After the moustached man, Bob, successfully pushed Irvine out the glass door, he gave a quick sharp glance back at the direction of the two university students who had processed Irvine's registration previously.
 
The glint in his eyes gave chills to the female student at the counter.
 
"...Oh no!" She suddenly shouted.
 
"What was that?"
 
"I-I think I remembered where I've heard the name... During the briefing yesterday, the teachers have given me a list of people to notify them about if and when any of them come to register."
 
"...And that Irvine Lang just now is on the list?"
 
*nod*
 
"I was supposed to share the list with you too, but the morning turned out to be rather hectic and-- Oh god..."
 
"..."
 
"W, why don't we first make sure that there's no other people on the list from the ones we have processed!"
 
"I'm dead... I hope the school won't take away my extra credits for this."

Just as the map had shown him, Irvine's drive with Bob to his dormitory building was relatively short from the administration hall.
 
Instead of partitioning the dorm based on the students' status, Ravenville University put the students of the same faculty or major in the same area block. This had been the way ever since the school's establishment.
 
For Irvine himself, it meant that unless there were other Arena student athletes with the same major as him. It was not very likely to meet another invited players around at least during this period of time.
 
All the rooms in Ravenville were 2-person bedrooms with shared indoor bathroom space and a small cozy living area with a compact dining table at its center.
 
All in all, the design was actually quite luxurious if compared to other colleges that had up to 4 people crammed together in a room.
 
*beep* *click*
 
In front of a room with his name on the plate, Irvine swiped his student card on the sensor lock, making the light on the door handle to turn green allowing him access inside.
 
"Wow."
 
"What do you think?" Bob stood behind him on the hallway and asked with a smile.
 
"Very spacious for a 2-person dorm, I think I'll like it here." Irvine replied politely to the question.
 
"You say that now, but you probably won't be here past your 1st year Mister Lang."
 
"Hm, why is that?"
 
"I've pointed out to you our Arena training field and stadium just now right? The one we drove by?"
 
"Yes."
 
"Did you see the mansion-like building on the side of the stadium too? The one that looked like a private villa?"
 
"..." Irvine seemed to vaguely remember the building that Bob was describing,
 
"Are you saying the Arena team members get to live there?"
 
"Haha, no of course not. Though it looks like that, the place is our Ravenville Illusions athletic facility. The interior was filled with cutting edge technology to both train and maintain one's health." He explained,
 
"From restoration pods, to cryo chambers and saunas, the place have everything an Arena athlete would need."
 
"Like a gym then, so why did you say I won't live here past my freshman year?"
 
"Well it's not JUST training facilities. The building provides many entertainments such as game room, snack bars, and cafeteria. Most importantly, all the 1st string players in the roster are allowed to spend the night and live there during the season. Which is what usually happens."
 
"And considering your title as a Starseed Mister Lang, I just think that by this time next year or even next semester, you'll most likely be part of that same list of players!"
 
'Next year?'
 
"I'm planning to play in the Warrior Crown this year though..." He replied honestly.
 
"..." Bob turned silent for a while at his statement.
 
Not only was Irvine planning to become a 1st string, he's also planning to enter the Crown Tournament as a starter.
 
"Hoho, that'd be something! I guess you can try that too, but."
 
"...I think you'll find that our 1st string players are not so easily replaceable by the freshmen even if it's someone who already got their genes modified like you Mister Lang."
 
What he'd said was not mere provocation because it's true that there're a lot of sophomores who had gone through Gene Mod but stayed in the 2nd string.
 
Even though Bob was not someone who's specifically in charge of Battle Arena student athletes, with how Ravenville was most well-known for that one sport, the entirety of the university paid much attention to the Arena team's development.
 
The staffs, teachers, and even many of the students here were all fans of the Ravenville Illusions just like the citizens of Zeta City were more likely to be fans of the Zeta Androids.
 
"Of course I'd expect nothing less from the top players in college Arena, but. As a player, I should also aim high for myself, shouldn't I?"
 
"...That's true!" Bob laughed at Irvine's answer,

Irvine's room was on the 4th floor of Building-19.
 
Since there're rarely anyone else on campus who'd been back this early for the new academic year, after inspecting the room a little more and putting away his luggage on his preferred bed, Irvine also left the room to continue the rest of his tour with Bob.
 
From classroom buildings to stores and parks, he drove together in the car seeing the whole area of the campus instead of just the Arena's training field like the last time he'd come by himself.
 
The guided explanation that came with being driven around the many different green scenery of the prestigious university was a very enjoyable experience for Irvine.
 
Plus, there's also the fact that with Bob around, he had covered more ground in a short amount of time that he wouldn't be able to if he was walking around by himself.
 
The area that covered the whole of Ravenville University was huge, to the point that there were free campus buses that circled the premises regularly for students without any means of transport inside.
 
Irvine himself personally thought that he'd rather get a bike after saving some money so that he could get a little exercise in between commutes.

Closing in on the afternoon.
 
Inside a wide and futuristic-looking locker room with warm lighting, various parts of black, white, and grey exosuits were hung on each of the racks that were a part of the private lockers.
 
Each locker consisted of an equipment rack that took up a large part of the mid-section, the drawers on the left-right and top side of it, and the low seat on the bottom for the player to sit and prepare during briefings.
 
Aside from the locker attached to the room walls, the center area of the room was also filled with rows of padded benches stacked together.
 
Inside this wide empty room, presently there were a few people sitting around and watching a certain video on the wall-mounted large screen TV on one side of the wall.
 
*BUZZ*
 
The hustles and bustles from inside the television were spreading outwardly, filling the whole room with many different topics and discussions.
 
"Goddamn, Adrian Crowe is freaking crazy!" A man with a pair of sharp and slanted eyes commented while munching on snacks in his mouth as he kept watching the match on TV.
 
Currently it was showing the replay of a last-minute saving play performed by the Sigma Conqueror's Ace Fielder.
 
"You know, there're some rumours before that he's coming to play for the Androids." One of the people beside him responded with his own news that he'd heard from somewhere else.
 
"Ah, I heard that too. But the trades and transfers season's over now, if he's coming it could only happen next year."
 
"Hng..." The guy with slanted eyes let out a little groan in response before speaking his own thoughts to the others,
 
"I don't think he's ever going to leave the Conquerors."
 
"Oh, why's that?"
 
"Just my own analysis... If he really does leave by himself, he might not be as great as he is now." He answered.
 
"Well, if you're the one saying it, Clint..."
 
"By the way, where's the captain? Is he registering?"
 
"Old students like us register online idiot."

Their casual bicker quickly ended when they heard the door to their locker room being turned open from the outside.

Two silhouettes came in through the open door.
 
As they walked, the two people were instantly noticed by the rest of the players in the room.
 
"Oho, here comes our 2 new star players!" The guy with the sharp and slanted eyes called Clint greeted the oncoming figures from his seat.
 
"It's the pre-season, you guys coming up to the 1st string right...?"
 
"Wallace, Clayton."
 
On the back, the dark-skinned Derrick and bulky Greg slowly walked forward to approach their seniors.
 
"I'm planning to. These 2 weeks will be the final sprint for that." Derrick replied honestly.
 
"How's your new Ability? Adapting well?" Clint grinned.
 
"Yes."
 
"What about you fatty?"
 
"Where do you even see fat in this magnificent body of mine?" Greg felt offended at his remark and showed his bulging muscles even more.
 
"Uwah... Please don't say or do stuff like that, I think I'm gonna hurl."
 
"What are you watching?" Derrick changed the subject with a wry smile.
 
"It's the OPL pre-season friendly match." One of the guys in the room answered.
 
"Oh! The all-star match!"
 
The OPL pre-season match were widely known as the all-star match, where all the notable pro players from the previous season were called out to play against each other.
 
The players invited were all coming from different teams, so the friendly match was hosted using the random draw format between each position to create an impromptu team of all-star players facing each other.
 
It was less of a serious match and more like a service for the fans.
 
"But what about the new recruits? They're coming in shortly and the 3rd years are in charge right?" 
 
"Yeap. We'll take care of them just like how the Captain and the others took care of you guys last year."
 
"..."
 
"By the way Wallace, do you know someone named Irvine Lang from the License Exam?"
 
"Hm? Of course! He's the--"
 
"4th Starseed. I know."
 
"But why are you asking suddenly--" Before he could complete his sentence, an idea started to form inside Derrick's head,
 
"D, don't tell me..."
 
Clint's smile got even wider at this point with his eyes turned into a slit, "Hmhmm, It won't be long before our Ravenville could take the Silver Crown that's for sure."
 
Clint had already seen Irvine's video on the License Exam and were very interested in his playstyle.
 
'That guy's coming to Ravenville!? ...Such coincidence.' Derrick could still remember his performance during the Practical Exam a couple months back.
 
Of course, he knew that the coincidence was only from his point of view because Irvine was one of the very few people titled as a Starseed this year.
 
The other side was probably choosing a college in Zeta City for his own personal reason.

Ow, that really did a number on me, well quite frankly that isn't the worse death I've had so far. And I have had quite a lot. I stared up at the ceiling of my room feeling slight pinches of pain from the impact of the Jeep. I jumped out of bed and made it up, then I saw my luggage, crap. I'm supposed to move into the dorm in a week and I was supposed to have left thirty minutes ago, well I haven't really given thought to college nor to when I am supposed to go. Ah, well this life I'll try to live normally, luckily this is my first time going to this certain college. Might as well give it a go. I packed extra things in and ran down, how could I forget this means I won't need to worry about my parents or my grades, and I mean that in a good way. I ran into the kitchen. My parents were arguing about what they wanted to give me as my going away present. Like always, but I knew what they wanted to give me. I kissed my father's cheek startling him, then I hugged my mother's form from behind her, she whirled around and nearly hooked me with the knife she used for cutting the bread. Wow, been there already done that so no thanks! I ducked back and fell on perpase.
"Oof! Mom, watch out!" The words tasted fiergn in my mouth but I said them nonetheless. My mother placed her hands in front of her mouth.
" I am so sorry, Ly, I thought...." She began but smiled as I got back onto my feet. I smiled right back and kissed her cheek.
" Mom, since you guys are done arguing can I have some more art supplies please, mine are up." I casually said as I took my car keys from the key hanger.
"Oh, of course we'll send some to your dorm room for you, love." My father said smiling superiorly at mother making her stick her tongue out.
" Thank you, guys love ya see you in the holidays again!" I said as quickly kissed them again and took my perse from the coffee table. I threw my jacket on and picked up my luggage after opening the door. After I had placed all of my belongings into the trunk I got into my car and ignited the engine. I wonder if I'd be lucky enough to be left alone. Nope focus or there will be another car accident in my list of death. Which would certainly be a lot of car accidents, what is it with people and car accidents? Ah no, no, no, focus. It took me a while but eventually, which is four days and thirty six minutes later I arrived at the dorm ground of the Evangeline University of Maryland.

The room filled with heavy breathing and loud moans, nothing could ruin this moment. My mind went completely blank as he started going harder and rougher, slapping our bodies together Jason started kissing and biting my neck. "I told you to be ready… I told you what would happen." He flipped me over and grabbed my waist, once again he pushed himself deep inside me and started thrusting hard and fast. "The only thing different is that you're here now. I still am a busy man, but I promise ill be back later." He kissed my head and then walked out as I sighed softly. I knew this was to expect, nothing would change just because I was here. Jason was always busy and it was hard on me, but now it was going to be harder.

 The only thing I could do was accept the fact that I couldn't have him around like I wanted. I stood and walked over to the window watching him leave until his car was out of sight. I grabbed my sneakers and called an Uber as I made a list of things I needed from the store. After a few hours I had finished my shopping and I had all my bags on my bed. I looked around before checking my phone, wondering if Jason had messaged me. I sighed as I checked my messages and saw no notifications. "Okay remember Octavia you're not here for only  Jason, school is important." I nodded ad took a deep breath before starting to decorate my dorm room. After I finished I walked out and went outside. I looked around at everyone arriving with suitcases and bags and as I looked I saw a guy drop him things. I smiled softly an I walked over helping him pick up his things. "You don't have to do that I dropped this I can pick it up." He hurried to gather his things as I tried to help him get his things. "No, it's fine honestly it's n…." 

I picked up a few books and as I lift up his study book I noticed a playboy magazine. I blushed and picked it up as we both stood then I handed it to him. I looked at how embarrassed he was and I smiled softly. "Hey, I'm sure you're one of many guys with something like that, you have absolutely nothing to be ashamed of." He looked up at me and smiled back as he stuck out his hand. "I'm David." I looked at his hand then at him and then I laughed as I saw him blush. "I'm kidding, hehe I'm Octavia." "That's an absolutely beautiful name." I blushed and tucked a strand of hair behind my ear as I giggled. "Thank you, well ill let you get going I guess ill see you around." He nodded and I walked away smiling to myself. I went back to my dorm only to find a female and a guy standing in the kitchen. "Well there's one of our roommates." The short girl with dark red hair came over to me and hugged me. "I'm Amanda and this is our roommate Charlie." I smiled at them both before pulling away.

 "It's really nice to meet both of you, I'm Octavia. Is it just us in the dorm?" "No there is one more roommate, two females and two males." "Have you guys met him yet?" "Yes, he went to go grab some things from his car." As Charlie said that David walked in as if on cue. "Hey magazine guy." He looked up blushing and I giggled. "I'm sorry I was just messing with you." He walked over and put his things down before joining our roommate at the mini bar in the kitchen. I started chatting with Amanda and I looked over at the guys to find David looking at me and chatting with Charlie. We made eye contact and he quickly looked away, smiling I looked away. My phone went off and I looked at the messaged. I sighed when I saw it was from Jason and I slowly opened it. "Hey how you're enjoying San Fran not sure I'll make it back tonight. Goodnight cutie." I looked back at David and realized I had just started trouble.

"Where are you now?"
"The dorm room."
"Stay right there! I am coming back immediately!"
The call ended abruptly. Gu Xiao Xiao lied down onto the bed powerlessly until her dorm room door was kicked open by someone.
Chu Xiao Xi returned to the dorm room aggressively, slamming shut the door and arriving before Gu Xiao Xiao's bed. She dragged Gu Xiao Xiao up into a sitting position from her zombie-like state.
"What happened? You have to tell me everything right now!"
"Chu Xiao Xi..."
Staring at her best friend who finally returned, Gu Xiao Xiao pouted, feeling wronged. This whole story was long and also sad. Gu Xiao Xiao failed to hold it in and began to cry out loud as her face scrunched together. 
"Don't cry!" Looking at Gu Xiao Xiao's red eyes, the originally furious Chu Xiao Xi had lost all her anger. "You didn't marry Mu Yan Fan? Then who did you marry? That bastard Mu Yan Fan has done something to hurt you hasn't he!"
"Don't mention him anymore. We have broken up." Resting her head on Chu Xiao Xi's shoulder, Gu Xiao Xiao wiped off the tears on her face. She then began to tell her what had happened with Mu Yun Fan and Jin Jing as she cried. Listening to it had made Chu Xiao Xi grit her teeth and she so very much wanted to shred that couple into pieces herself.
"So, you just found a stranger on the street and married yourself off?"
There is some stuff that Gu Xiao Xiao had no courage to tell. Such as what had happened between Chu Yi Chen and her…
"What his last name is, where does he live, and what does he do? You don't know any of it? You don't even have his phone number and you… you married him?"
Gu Xiao Xiao nodded. She too felt like she had been too bold.
Chu Xiao Xi looked at her, not knowing whether to laugh or cry or what she should do with this idiot.
Gu Xiao Xiao and Mu Yan Fan had known each other for more than 10 years. They both left their hometown to attend University B and were a well-known model couple. She quickly pushed Gu Xiao Xiao onto her bed and sighed helplessly.
Gu Xiao Xiao then fell asleep in a haze. Though she wasn't feeling well, she got up on time the next day anyway.
"Where are you going?" Chu Xiao Xi, who had already gotten dressed and was sitting at her desk, asked, "You are very sick and you are planning to go to work?"
"It wasn't easy getting into Feng Yang. I cannot skip work so easily."

Chu Yi Chen held onto her waist and lifted her up, bluntly forcing her to swallow back the word “divorce”.

" Can't you ask your fucking questions one by one?  " he said a little harshly and I didn't reply. Afterwards he spoke " To your first question , yes I changed your clothes as your clothes were dirty. I gave that dress to laundry. And I slept in another room . Nothing much happened and Anna has gone to your dorm to fetch your things.  Last night she also stayed her into the room next to yours ." He answered all my questions and I feel a little bit relaxed. I sat on the bed and waited for Anna and Jace was downstairs . After like fifteen minutes Anna came to Jace's house and gave me my belongings . I went to the bathroom and get dressed . I wore a white shirt and black tight jeans . I tied a bun and headed downstairs with Anna .

Jace was in the kitchen preparing breakfast for himself and didn't noticed that we just came so I started to speak " Well...thank you for yesterday. " Jace lifted his eyes and gazed where the sound came from. He stared for a bit longer and I felt a little uncomfortable . After a second he said with a arrogant tone "No need for thanks. " Well rude will always be a rude . When I didn't say something he continued " Sit both of you I have prepared breakfast ."

I was surprised on hearing this. Really ? Am I dreaming ? I pinched myself on checks. Aah.  It hurts.  I was standing there like a statue when Anna grabbed my arm and take me towards the dinning table. We ate our breakfast in silence and then I again said him thanks and he rolled his eyes.  As we haven't my car here so we booked a cab and returned to campus.

Sabine can barely recall the dream anymore but the feel of the cool skin against her lips still lingered. 
Having fully woken up she shook her head as if to clear it and envisioned the list of things to be done for the day. Her long black hair all messed up and not even running her fingers through would tame it down. Sigh! No conditioner has ever fully solved this mystery head of hair! 
As a college student, Sabine had classes to attend to and as a student organization member, by the end of the day she had theatre rehearsals. 
Their drop-script run is in three weeks and she still had to run through the blockings on the script for the whole cast. She is the stage manager after all. 
Being a newbie in the theatre group, this was her first time to manage the stage. She has to work closely with the Production Manager, Assistant Director and the Director then relay the details to cast and crew. 
From actors' blockings to stage props and set design, Sabine has to be on top of it all. Not to mention that she is also assigned as understudy for three characters of the play just in case something unforeseen happens during their run next month. 
Yes there are times she wonders if she is a student at all! But three majors and four minors are scheduled today. Not to mention all her major subjects would have either oral or practical tests, her hands are quite full and any doubts about her being a student is immediately gone. 
So get up and get ready she tells herself. Occupying the lower bunk at the dorm she shares with her best friend Anna, she stood up and noticed Anna has already fixed her bed and left for the day. 
"Figures." She tells herself. Between her and Anna, Anna is the morning person. Anna always comes to school at least thirty minutes before her first class schedule. And as much as Anna wished to rub this habit off to Sabine, she couldn't. 
Sabine loved sleep. She wants to maximize all possible sleep time with just that. Sleep. And so she kicks herself off her bunk at the latest possible second to start her day. 
And start it did. 
She got readied and left the dorm carrying everything she needs for the day; from class to rehearsals including lecture notes and stage sketches. Everything. Thus her backpack made her look like she is ready for a three-day hike. 
"I need a locker." she thinks to herself. Then mutters, "oh yeah right. I can't afford it!" in campus, lockers are optional. If you want one, you'll have to pay a monthly fee to use it and you have to provide your own padlock. 
And so the backpack. 
Coming in the campus was easy as the dorm was just a 10-minute jeep ride away. Some even say they walk to and from school. But Sabine would not have that. If she did she'd be late and quite possibly get sore shoulders even before attending classes. 
Three minutes before the first period bell rings. "It is already promising to be a good day today!" she thinks to herself. 
Still, a group of students crowding over the bulletin board caught her attention. She was about to approach when a classmate from their room yelled "Sabine! Over here!"
That is Michelle. All five-feet three inches jumps up from her seat waving at Sabine to come in. "It's almost time! You need to take a look at this... " she said showing her their report outline. "remember, all you need is to follow the outline in the discussion later. The rest of the team will assist you with the projector. " 
"Wow! Could I at least put by bag down first?" Sabine said while rolling her eyes to the ceiling. 
"Sorry! Of course you should. Here, I saved you a seat." Michelle said as she motioned towards an armchair in front if her. A pen and paper on its desk to show someone has already chosen to sit there. 
"Nice. " breathed Sabine. "Thanks!"
"You're welcome! " smiled Michelle. 
"Say Michelle.. "
"Yeah? "
"What's the announcement at the bulletin there that has gotten people afrenzy?"
"Oh that? Just that students from different programs are being selected to be part of a peer-tutoring program." Michelle said. "Come to think of it, you might get selected Sabine! With all your extra curricular activities, it is a wonder you still maintain a Dean's List average. Our professors have never said anything about your studies getting affected by the stage productions because you still kept up despite everything."
"I don't know if I'll have enough room on my plate for another responsibility." Sabine mused. 
"Well as someone who has been a blockmate for four semesters and two summers, I have yet to see you say no to a task. You're the Yes Girl!" Michelle cheered. 
"Somehow in a different context, that title cannot be heard as wholesome!" Sabine laughed. 
Whatever Michelle had to say was muffled out as the instructor for the first period, Miss A, has entered the room. Thus the class begun. 
All groups scheduled to present their report were able to deliver. Sabine and her team were commended for their teamwork. Each member did their part... or so it appeared to Miss A. Michelle did the "network", Sabine led the discussion and their two other group mates, Trish and Von,  assisted in the visual aids and the question and answer part of the report. Although most of the research was done by Michelle, both she and Sabine agreed to make it clear to the group that they need to pull their own weight come presentation time. ...or else! And it worked. 
Trish and Von thanked them both and Sabine said thanks to them it all went smoothly as well. 
Sabine was packing her bag up when Miss A called class attention. "All right! In two weeks, Midterms is coming up".
Class groans in unison and some shifted in their seats uneasily. 
"Yes, yes. It is another term pertaining to sufferweek... I know."
Soft chuckles heard in class. 
"This is also why we formed a team of peer tutors to help out students having difficulty in certain subjects. A team of students will be called later today and we will post their names before the day ends. These students will be assigned a subject forte, and those who have trouble with those subjects can be assisted by these peer-tutors. "
Class had varied reactions and one student asked 
"are the peer tutors cute? " and some students burst out laughing. 
"while aesthetics is something you need not to be concerned about mr. cruz, beauty is actually in the eyes of the beholder."
"they are smart but ugly then? hahah!" feeling that he was on a humorous roll he high fived one of his buds who shared the shallow joke. 
"you are hopeless Mr. Cruz!" Miss A said. "All right, class dismissed!"
Walking at the hallway, Michelle said "Does that mean the peer tutors have a choice to participate? they said they would call the team first before posting their names."
"maybe. They have to accept the program first right? If it were me, I'd want to be asked first too before telling the whole student body that I am assigned to tutor. Besides, they also have to consider the student tutors' availability right?"
"right Sabine. I agree."  
Almost as Michelle predicted, a student representative came in third period and asked for Sabine to report to the Faculty Conference Room. Sabine's stomach was growling in protest. 
"oh! I'm so hungry. Could I grab lunch first?" Sabine asked. 
"everyone is being called now. i believe this won't take more than thirty minutes." the student representative said. 
"I don't think I'd still be coherent in fifteen!" Sabine moaned while rubbing her protesting stomach. 
"if it is any consolation there will be light snacks during the meeting. " he said. 
"really?! why didn't you say so? let's go!" Nothing beats free! Sabine thinks to herself! 
Upon entering the Faculty Room, Sabine greeted everyone as she made her way to the conference room. 
as she approached,  she caught a whiff of coffee aroma and immediately led her gaze to the coffee station. There were packets of instant coffee, milk, chocolate drink and tea. A thermos is plugged near the spread for hot water and cups were lined up beside it. A selection of presentable biscuits were also arranged on trays. Yey! Sabine thought. I won't starve through this meeting! 
She proceeded making instant mocha latte for herself and picked up cookies to dunk into it before finding herself a seat. 
As she scanned the conference table she spotted Anna! "Anna!" Sabine almost yelled. 
Anna already has her milk and coffee sans biscuits in front of her but was reading a two-page handout. She looked up and smiled at Sabine.. "Sab! You're here too! I knew it! What's your assigned subject?"
Still holding her mocha latte, Sabine smiled and sat herself to Anna's right. Leaning to her left, she whispers to Anna "I don't know yet. Heheh! I'm here for the snacks!" Sabine said. 
To that,  Anna just giggled adorably. 
They were laughing in their own world when a boy's voice broke it up asking "Ehem!  This seat taken?"
Sabine answers before looking up,  "no,  nope." Waving her right hand to him then as she looks up she stops short.
Her hand in midair she looked straight at him. He stares back. 
"S-so can I?" he asks. 
"Can you what?" she blinks. Her hand still quite posed. 
"Can I sit here? " he clarifies, a smile lurking in his eyes. "My name's Migs." Looking at her hand still hanging and her still staring, Migs just took her hand and shook it. "Nice to meet you. ...er..? "
"Sabine! her name is Sabine. " Anna said internally laughing at the hilarious scene she just witnessed. Sabine could take her theatrical flair absolutely anywhere.
"yeah,  yes!" Sabine finally finding her voice. "And she is Anna." Waving her left hand to introduce her friend while still shaking Migs' hand slightly forcibly. 
THAT IS HIM. THIS IS HE! All the while shaking his hand and as she looked down she sees their hands still shaking she suddenly let go. "Yes!... uhm I'm sorry! heheh! Have a seat. Yeah! uhm," As if looking for some excuse she thought of the drink in front of her and held onto the cup. "Lack of coffee does this to me. eheheh! "
Thankfully before things get more awkward, the meeting began.
