Hearing Lucien's words, the gentlemen managed to refrain themselves, but the two ladies present could not hold back their giggles — Mr. Evans had to pay for his roaring!
Levski's paper introduced a brand new geometry system, and it included lots of propositions. The length of the paper way exceeded that of an ordinary paper and was almost equivalent to a book. Although Lucien skipped many parts when lecturing, his throat still hurt, despite of the fact that he was also a knight.
Lucien's answer amused the rest of the board members, and also more or less healed their mind after the intense roaring. During Lucien's speech, they were so shocked by Lucien's imposing manner and violent roaring that they subconsciously assumed that he was another Lord of Storm, who would never be bothered by too much roaring. Now the problem had been solved, they started to feel that Lucien was in fact quite easy-going.
"You need some potions?" Milina chuckled.
Lucien shook his head, and his voice was still a bit dry. "I'm okay. I'm a level-two knight, so I should be able to recover after one or two hours."
Neeshka sighed and then said, "Mr. Evans, you just read Levski's paper for the first time a few days ago, right? It's unbelievable that you managed to find two ways to prove it in such a short time. The second method is particularly concise and beautiful, which has perfectly proved the compatibility between Tower Geometry and Levski Geometry. Neeshka looked at Levski, who had gradually calmed down, and said, "It's such a pity that so far the new geometry systems put forward by Levski and Evans cannot be applied to our daily arcana study, nor could they be accepted by Arcana. This pity is often shared by we arcanists in math. I guess we can only publish them on the journal Astrology funded by Tower." 
This was a world where a theory would only be valued when it could be applied to reality. The reason why calculus was called the tool that had changed the entire era was that it could help a sorcerer accomplish the complex calculations required for completing a magic model, thus simplifying the process and lowering the requirement for the level of spiritual power. In the past, a sorcerer would need ten to twenty years to become a middle-rank, but now it could be done within five to six. Some geniuses even made it in one year! Of course, when exploring the truth of the world, calculus was an indispensable tool as well.
Also, the reason why complex variables functions had been the most heated study focus in recent decades was that they could be used to describe and calculate the force field of spiritual power. All the valuable papers that focused on complex variables functions were very likely to be published on Arcana and Magic.
So Levski's and Lucien's findings, despite that their mathematic models had already been established, might be gems that only thrilled the mathematicians in their own world. It is very unlikely that these papers would be published on Arcana.
Lucien said in a half-joking manner, "Perhaps the other side of the world fits perfectly into the new systems. When we find it out, maybe Arcana will do us a special supplement to acknowledge the significance of our findings."
Although Lucien could use his privilege as the member of the Review Board to publish the paper on Arcana, it would not help Levski much. So Lucien preferred to publish his and Levski's papers on Astrology together. He believed that this month's issue of Astrology would be remembered by all the arcanists in the future because of their papers.
"Hopefully." The rest of the board members did not really think that it was going to happen and simply offered their sincere wish. Even with President Douglas' theories that the world is a sphere, and with the important role that Evans Geometry played in the study of spheres, it was still quite hopeless for the paper to be published on Arcana. Since the coverage of most of the magic spells was limited, Tower Geometry and the properties of curves were equivalent tools for the sorcerers. There was thus no need to get too complicated.
Except for Ross who was a firm representative of the Congress, the rest of the board members present were all upper echelons of Tower, so they could decide what to be published on Astrology. After a brief discussion, Milina said to Levski and Evans, "the month just started, and this month's Astrology just came out. But to acknowledge the great contribution from you two, and to let most of the arcanists access your papers as soon as possible, we want to put your papers on a supplement for this month. What do you think?"
In many arcanists' mind, a supplement was not formal enough.
Levski was totally fine with it. His paper had passed the review and won such high recognition. Because of it, he would become a level-four arcanist and was now a candidate of Arcana Scepter. To him, ensuring that his paper was available to the public earlier was more important, as his dream was to make his geometry system be accepted by as many arcanists as possible.
But Levski did not respond immediately. Instead, he looked at Lucien and waited for his answer. After all, it was Lucien who brought him all these.
Hearing that, Lucien had a new idea. When Lucien was thinking on it, Milina took his silence as reluctance, so she hurriedly added, "Since the two papers are quite long, if we put them together and publish them on the next month's issue, it's gonna be too thick to make room for other papers. So either for this month or next, we still have to make a supplement. It's the first time that we only publish two papers on one issue since the era of calculus. So it's actually an honor…"

Producing a new journal was not an easy job. Also, the math papers that they could collect at this stage might not be enough for establishing a new one. But for an affiliated journal, many worries could be saved.
"Affiliated journal… We don't have it before. How do we determine its Influence Factor?" asked Neeshka. He was an authority in math, thus, having a journal exclusively for math was a great temptation to him.
Lucien first briefly introduced the benefits of having an affiliated journal, and then said, "As an affiliated journal, its Influence Factor should also follow Astrology but at one level lower: Astrology's Influence Factor is 2.5, then we should give 2.0 to it."
"We're very interested in the proposal, and we'll apply to the Board tomorrow," said Milina after a short discussion with the leaders from Tower, and then she turned to Lucien and Levski. "… So, if you two publish your papers on the new journal, the Influence Factor is 0.5 lower, and the arcana points awarded for citation will be less…"
Lucien smiled gently. "I'm fine with it. It is my honor publishing the paper on the first issue of a journal."

However, in order to show our appreciation of your great contribution, we'd like to invite you to be our Honorary Chief Editor, can we? You can publish all your math papers on this journal."
"No problem." Lucien laughed. Could this count as Tower's pay to him?
Neeshka added, "Mr. Evans, can we put the short speech that you just delivered on the front page of the journal? We'd like to have your words to be the inscription as well."
"My great honor," responded Lucien briefly. His throat still hurt.
Finally, Milina realized that the new journal was still waiting for a name, so she said, "Mr. Evans, since you made the proposal, why don't you name it?"
The board members all nodded.
Lucien thought for a while and said softly, 
"Math is the most wonderful and essential language in nature, and it shows the rules that all fields and realms shall follow…
"So, let's name it — Nature!"

Xiao Hongyue was wearing a red tracksuit and seemed to be jogging.
At twenty-odd years old and with a simple ponytail, she exuded a refreshing aura and gave off the feeling of an older sister next door. 
His pupils shrank a little when he saw this teacher. "Cultivator?"
He could feel that this older sister teacher Lin Meng had always adored was a cultivator!
A Mystic, and yet she's here as a high school teacher? Interesting!

However, he did hear some information. "Jarvis… that blond's boss? So he has some connections to external forces. Xiao Hongyue's background is even more mysterious, but she doesn't appear to be a special agent… Is this the legendary master from games?"
He had too little information to figure out anything at this point.
He returned to his narrow dorm room after strolling outside for awhile.
"'Elementary Olympiad Math'…"
He shut the windows and turned on the lights. Fang Yuan started reading the first page after suppressing his excitement.

The title page only had two lines and a faint fragrance, refreshing the reader and making them clear-headed.

They can't stand the sight of each other as the girl looked dirty and messy all the time and the boy is the only heir of a huge estate that owned the town and some other land.
Henry hated the uglies as long as he can remember because for him, they all were not suitable and not on par with him. He looked down on the uglies and always harsh with them. As an heir, he has everything, the look, the money, the breed? And so on. Therefore, these people can't touch him even though what he did was very rude.
Irene on the other hand, a humble person. She always wearing the same dresses and because of that it looked so worn out. The people in the town always looked down on her as she looked like a beggar but they wonder where she found the money to buy food and survive because she looked like a pauper. Deep inside the town folk can't accept the fact that she was a genius in Mathematics. 

-Henry's Mansion-

"How can you, a 23 years old man, be this stupid, my dear?" questioned the mother, Madam Eliza.
"It is not my fault, mother. This question just doesn't want to be answered. Can't blame me for not finding the answer", Henry retorted. His mother sighed and looked at the master of the house, Mr. Matthew, desperately hoping her husband to beat some sense in this boy.
Henry's father chuckled and looked at his son,"I will look for someone to teach you some manner and Math. How could my heir doesn't know simple Math. You will be eaten by the hungry shareholders that targeted this empire. You also can't talk like that to your mother. So, I will arrange someone to be your tutor. You can't say no and don't try to run away from studying after this."
Henry looked at his father dumbfounded and put up his hands surrendering, retreating to his own room. He knew that once Mr. Matthew already decided, no matter how spoil he was, he can't argue. Mr. Matthew smile. He already have someone in mind. He wanted to teach him a lesson, not to judge a person by it's appearance.It was not like he does not know what the people said about his son. Therefore, this will serve as an eye-opener for Henry.
In Henry's room, he paced around and anxiously thinking for a hole in his father's order. Trying to get a way out if he was caught trying to run away. But he can't find any. 
"Haihhh"

A few days later, Irene walked into Henry's mansion and stare awestruck at the interior of the mansion. The main hall is so grand with 10-tier something chandelier and double staircases that split in to two and balanced both to the right and left of the mansion. The decoration of the mansion are priceless and she was scared to even be near them afraid of breaking it.
The butler who was escorting her snorted when he saw her standing admiring the mansion. 'You should be grateful to the master for giving a chance to step in this mansion. Hmphh'
After her arrival, the master was noticed and he went to meet the young said-genius. When his eyes landed on Irene, he stopped. 'How could this be it. No way. She suppose to be dead. But that hair and that face. There's no way she would survive, unless…'
"What are you doing, father? Aren't we suppose to meet with my tutor? Is it a he or she?"
Mr. Matthew thought was cut by his son's voice. He continued walking down the stairs and smiled. "That's her", he pointed and Henry turned to the direction that his father pointed.
At the end of the staircase, there was a petite, ash blonde woman with messy and worn out dress. She was looking down at the engraving on the stairs not realizing she was being watched.
"NO WAY!"
Irene startled and immediately looked up at the source of the voice. Her moss-green eyes locked with ocean-blue ones. 
"You can't say no, son. This is Irene. She will be your tutor in Math from this day onward."

Bit of this, bit of that. A few fairy tale from childhood, combined. Henry, the sole heir of a majestic empire, and Irene, a naive girl that always looked like a mess. Hating each others gut, and can't help falling in love with each other despite Henry hating the uglies. Not just Beauty and the Beast but also a few other fairy tales. Cliche story with a few twists.
A few secrets, a few charm, some are meant to be forgotten and some are meant to be exposed.

"My lord, I came back with the information" Said Deferio.
Deferio and the soldiers took 3 to 5 hours to do the census, quite fast indeed. Well, the main reason was that there weren't a lot of families in wasteland valley, in fact, they could have finished in two hours the problem was to organize the information, only two of the fifteen can write. Alfonso received the 6 pages of information, however, the information wasn't organized, well , at least, not as he wanted to be organized.
"Well, I can't ask them too much, the fact that two of them can write already surpassed my expectations" Thought Alfonso.
After he sent Deferio back, he organized the information, when he realized, it was already night, Artemis and Demeter, were already back.
"What are you doing Alfonso?" Asked Artemis.
"Well, I asked Deferio and the soldiers to bring me some information about the people" Answer Alfonso.
"My~ My~ , I know about that~, two soldiers came to Camel's house and asked some questions~ so this was why~" Said Demeter.
"Speaking about Camel, how is it going? What are you teaching them?" Asked Alfonso.
"Well~ I must say that I am quite impressed about that method you taught them~ it's good in this kind of lands with cold weather, however, I made a few adjustments but, in general, the idea is good~ , the earth is also happy~ , they told me that Camel and the others treat them well, despite they were infertile, so they promised me to grew healthy and delicious vegetables~" Said Demeter with a happy smile.
"? The earth talked to you?" Asked Alfonso.
"Well~ I am not so good at speaking with it as grandma but yes, I can~"
Alfonso was quite surprised about this, however, after thinking about it , he remembered that Demeter had a skill that he hadn't read, so he open the system.

Description: Demeter can receive the emotions of the earth in her surroundings and interpret its emotions, remember, this is just an interpretation, she can't "talk" to earth m just "interpret" its feelings. The only one who can talk to earth is Gaia.

"Look here, I recollect the information and did a careful study of it, all in all, a few remarkable points; first, there are 250 people in Wasteland Valley, fifty more than  what I originally though, despite how dead this land is, there is a lot of young people, so we have to accelerate the process of the distribution of food, this is a must; Second, of the 250 people, 240 believe that food is the most important problem that I need to solve, 9 believe that is the thieves that steal food from others, and one believe that is the hunting grounds from his, that is being stolen from a young man with five wolves" Said Alfonso while looking at Artemis.

"That's the problem here, it would be surprising it someone knew more than one subject, at least, it would here, I mean, the people in this town are farmers and hunters. However, if someone actually knew math and could read that would be a great notice for us, what we need more is this kind of people.... However, the person who knows this, doesn't only know math and how to read, he is also the only one who knows how to write! Of course, this is without counting the two soldiers of Deferio" Say Alfonso.
Artemis and Demeter were surprised.
"But…. This is good, isn't it? Someone who can do this must be an elder that stayed in another town for some time and somehow learned, he will be a huge help!" Say Artemis.
Alfonso's face became even more bitter.

Both of them were very surprised, they, as goddess, have seemed "geniuses" before, however… this child, in this kind of environment, can do all of this? , how is it possible!?

"Goodday Your highness, all your orders have been completed and are ready to go. If I must say your highness, these chalkboards and that strange white stone you call chalk are simply genius." Tim said while gazing at Landon with eyes filled with worship and adoration.
Landon chuckled
"Dont get too excited Tim, in the future we will create more marvelous products in Baymard. Afterall, although the idea was mine, you and your apprentices did all the actual work. So you all deserve most of the credit."
"No no no your highness, a true man doesnt take credit for what he did not do." Tim said while shaking his head.
Landon could only look at him helplessly.
Infact, as time went by...Tim had come to know of all the brilliant ideas and things his highness had done in Baymard. From making the land bear food, to producing chalk and so on.
How could a 15 year old have such profound knowledge? In his eyes, Landon had already become a wise sage who knew how to solve every problem in the world.
"Tim, are you and your apprentices literate?" Landon asked.
"Yes your highness, I taught them how to read, write and do Math." Tom answered confusedly.
"In the future, I would like you to teach more people about Capentary and construction. Would you be able to do that?"
Tim thought for a while and finally replied.
"I would your highness, but my workshop is too small to accommodate a lot of people here." Tim said while looking around his messy workshop.
"Dont worry about that for now....Tim, I want to open a school for everyone in Baymard. Once people know how to read and write, I want you to pick two of your apprentices or yourself, to teach them about Capentary and construction later on. You don't need to worry about anything else. I will give you an entire estate in the lower region consisting of 18 buildings for your new workshops."
Tim was shocked. Isn't an entire estate too big for just a tiny workshop. What is his highness planning? ...Landon looked at Tim and instantly knew what he was worried about.
"These buildings will be able to allow over 2000 people to work in them at once. I will put you in charge of these buildings and all construction projects in Baymard. Although we don't have a lot of people now, very soon this place will be filled with people."
Tim finally understood where Landon was driving at.
"Plus in the future, I will also teach you new never before seen techniques for welding, constructing materials or buildings and creation of new devices and equipments. You will be the first person in the entire empire to use these techniques. As for the new equipments, they will mostly be made from Iron. Of course you and all villagers under you will get paid for your services monthly."
The more Tim heard, the more excited he became. Right now, he hardly had any customers who in his workshop. His customers over the years, were the Barons and the city lord. They paid him a fair price for all his works, and he was content with the amount.
The only reason he cared about the money was to feed his apprentices and himself, as well as help some villagers here and there.
When he had excess money, he would drive a cart to the next village, buy food and share with some villagers of Baymard.
But now, he had the chance to let the villagers earn some coins, while he would learn new skills and techniques in his profession. How could he not agree to his highness' request?
"So once you understand the principles and methods that I teach you, I need you to also teach everyone coming later on into your workshops." Landon continued.
"Of course your your highness" Tim said happily.
Landon knew that he couldn't request Tim to teach the principals of construction now, or Wiggins to teach the principals of mineral ore extraction or anyone for that matter.
Right now, none of them knew anything about physics, chemistry or even biology. They knew math, but not the earth type of math. They only knew how to add, subtract and do basic division. The good thing was that they were all literate.
Landon planned that while the villagers were learning how to read, write and perform math, he would give each of the leaders books on all four subjects. Allowing them to study them first and then later teach their workers in all work departments.
Tim was happy.....but also now extremely worried.
"But your highness, more importantly how are we suppose to get enough Iron for all these?"
"Don't worry, after you install these chalkboard to the various classrooms in the upper estate, I'll take you to a place."
Tim was still confused, but chose to believe Landon anyway.
Tim took three apprentices, put all the boards in a cart and followed Landon and Terry to one of the estate's in the upper region.
Once they arrived, they spent their time, dismantling the fancy designs and paintings on each wall... Afterall, Landon thought classrooms should be free of all distractions, so the students could better concentrate on their studies.
They attached the chalkboards to the walls in various rooms and used one room as a storage room for all slate-boards.
Landon decided to go to the lower regions so he could show Tim the Iron ores and also collect chalk for the classrooms.
On his way down, the system notified him for his reward.
'Ding!!'
'Congratulations host for creating chalkboard (blackboards) and chalk. You were rewarded 40 Bonus Points (BP) for the creation of the chalkboard and 10 BP for creating chalk.' The system replied.
'System show me my stat's.

Actually Landon had forgotten about the fact that he could get points for creating chalkboards and chalk. His mind was very focused on starting his mission on cannon making and gunpowder.
He needed to teach chief Wiggins the alchamist, how to make gunpowder for the cannons fast.
Suddenly, the system gave him a new warning alert.
'Warning Warning.....Host a ship is sailing towards the sea coast of your land.'

Mataas na ang boses ni Teacher Orly halatang galit na ito kaya tahimik na ang mga nasa paligid na teacher na kasama nya.

Kilala nila si Teacher Orly, ayaw nito na kinokontra sya. Mapagtanim ito ng galit kahit sa simple at maliliit na  bagay! Babalik at babalikan ka nito at gagawa at gagawa sya ng paraan para makaganti!

Tahimik lang din na nakikinig si Kate, Ames at Nicole. Gusto nilang makita ang reaksyon ni Teacher Orly hanggang sa huli. Habang ni rerecord naman ni Mel at Jeremy ang nangyayari.

At si Eunice, wala syang pakialam kung genius sya o hindi! Pero aminado syang gusto nyang patunayan kay Teacher Orly na hindi sya bobo gaya ng inaakala nito.
 
"Yes Sir Orly, she's a genius! Do you want to know how did I know?"

"Simple! Because of the way she answered the problem!"
"Only geniuses knows how to answer that way!"

"Genius? SYA?!"

"HAHAHAHAHAHA!"

Nagtataka sila bakit tumatawa si Teacher Orly.

"Sorry Mr. John pero kawawa ka naman hindi mo kayang idifferentiate ang genius o hindi! Hahahaha!"

"So you don't believe that this girl is really a genius?"

Ang mga teacher biglang na curious, kaya napuno ng bulungan ang paligid.

"Genius nga ba si Eunice? Ano sa tingin mo?"

"Kung genius sya bakit hindi natin alam?!"

"Pero nakita naman natin kung paano sya sumagot diba!"

"Asus, yung mga kabisote kaya din gawin yun! Praktis lang!"

Natawa si teacher Erica sa nadidinig sa paligid nya.
'Paano nila makikita na genius si Eunice e sarado lahat ang utak nila kagaya ni Teacher Orly!'

Aminado sya na hindi nya rin alam na genius si Eunice pero alam nyang matalino ito kagaya ng nanay nya na mentor nya at kaibigan.

Dahil lumalakas na ang bulung bulungan, tumayo na si Ames.

"QUIET PLEASE!"

At unti unting humupa ang ingay.

"Professor John totoo ba ang sinasabi mo? Can you prove it!"

Uhmm... well, I think I have a better idea para madali nyong maintindihan!"
"Pwede ko bang ma invite si Kate dito sa harap!"

"Kate tumayo ka dyan, alam kong bored ka na!"
Utos ni Ames.

"Now, everyone here knows that Kate is a genius, kaya gagamitin ko sya to prove na genius din ang batang ito!"

"How?"

"I'm going to give a Math problem and I want them both to answer ng sabay!" "Simple!"

Oonga naman, dahil isang genius si Kate kapag nasagutan din ni Eunice ang problem, pwede nga naman sabihing isang genius na rin sya.

"Okey Professor John do the honor, make it hard, please!"
Sabi ni Ames.

"Kate please dito ka sa left side and Eunice sa right!"

Pag pwesto nila pareho, nagpunta si Professor John sa gitna nila at isinulat ang Math problem na iso solve nila.

"Huh?!"
Nagulat si Jeremy ng makita ang iso solve nila.

"Bakit Jeremy my friend?! Anong problema?"

"Parang ganyan ang itinest namin sa Math!"

"Sigurado ka?!"

Tumango si Jeremy. Hindi sya makapaniwala, saka naalala pa nya ang hirap nya sa pagsagot sa problem na yan!

"Ha? Grabe naman yang friend ni Ms. Ames magbigay ng question! Paano masasagot yan ni Sissy?"

Kinabahan na napatingin si Mel kay Eunice.
'Juskolord, please tulungan nyo po ang Sissy ko!'

"Okey, you may begin!"

Nag umpisa sila ng sabay. Parehong nakatutok sa ginagawa nila at nakatingin naman ang lahat sa dalawa, walang nagsasalita at tanging tunog lang ng marker na isinusulat sa white board ang madidinig na ingay.

Dire diretso lang sa pagsulat si Kate halatang medyo nahirapan sya pero na solve pa rin nya ang problem sa loob ng 7 minutes.

Pagkatapos nyang sumagot, Tahimik syang umalis sa white board at saka naupo upang panoorin ang pinsan nyang si Eunice. 

Si Eunice, habang nagsusulat, makikitang butil butil ang pawis nito sa noo, halatang hirap na hirap sya sa pagsolve.

Pero patuloy sya sa pagsulat. Kita mo sa kanya ang hirap pero kita mo rin ang determinasyon, hindi sya sumusuko! 

Matyaga silang naghihintay na matapos si Eunice.

Seryoso ang lahat maliban kay Sir Orly na nakangisi lang na pinanonood sila.

'Iyan ang genius? Tsk tsk tsk!'

Ang sabi nila, ang totoong kagandahan daw ay nakikita sa kabutihan ng puso ng isang nilalang.

Ganyan ko tingnan ang mundo kahit na ang nasa paligid ko ay puno ng pangungutya at balatkayo at ang tanging mahalaga lang ay ang sasabihin ng ibang tao.

Bakit kasi may pamantayan ang ganda sa paningin ng karamihan.

Sabi nila mataba daw ako
Sabi nila hindi daw maganda ang kulay ko dahil hindi ako maputi
Sabi nila makapal daw ang labi ko at dahil dito maraming nagsasabi

Kyung-eun hesitated for a moment before speaking again.

&quot;What are you doing?&quot; She asked, even though she had been watching him for a while now and knew exactly what he was doing. Unsure of whether she would be able to feign ignorance, she hid her fidgeting hands behind her back as she waited for him to answer.

That was the only answer she got. He really was a reserved kid. Though it was true that the boy had little to no experience talking to girls (there weren't many girls in the institute either), it was mainly due to the fact that he wasn't used to talking to his classmates at all. With no way of knowing this, Kyung-eun pushed on.

&quot;You like books, right?&quot; It was something that everyone knew about the boy, but the purpose of her question wasn't to confirm this fact.
&quot;Yes, I do.&quot;

It was to see what sort of expression he would make. There weren't many observable facial expressions he would make throughout the school day, to the point that people were now beginning to say that his nickname, &quot;plaster face,&quot; was because of his stoicism rather than his good looks. However, whenever the boy talked about books, his face would change slightly. It was a small change at best, but it was enough to be noticed by even his inexperienced classmates. Kyung-eun nevertheless felt as though she had solved a great mystery.

&quot;Well, I have a lot of books at home. Do you wanna come see them?&quot; The question dumbfounded Kyung-eun just as much as the boy, and they remained in silence for a moment. The boy was curious as to where the sudden invitation had come from, while Kyung-eun felt flustered, realizing the words that had come out of her mouth. &quot;I mean,&quot; she added quickly through the awkwardness, &quot;My brother and sister both like books, so we have plenty. I read a lot too. I thought maybe you'd like to read them too. Or you can just borrow some, if you'd like.&quot;

She was just spurting out words as they came to her, which the boy was oddly appreciative of. Kyung-eun was trying to be nice to him, and he couldn't bring himself to flat out refuse. &quot;I can't go over so suddenly,&quot; he explained. &quot;Once school is over, I do have to get…home. But if you're willing to lend me some, I'd be very grateful.&quot;

The school policy dictated that first years were not allowed to check books out of the library, meaning that the boy had to return all the books once school ended. He had always felt a bit sad about this, so Kyung-eun's invitation was more than he could ask for. The boy smiled at her then, trying to convey all his gratitude through it. She stared at him, almost entranced, before regaining her wits and rushing back to her seat. After a quick &quot;Sure!&quot; she turned back around to face the front of the class, and the boy went back to focusing on the problem he had been solving before.

School really was a such a nice place. There were teachers to kindly explain everything he was curious about, plenty of books on facts he had never known before, and classmates who were willing to extent their kindness to him. Though there were also prejudiced teachers who looked at him with eyes full of doubt, classmates who made fun of him for not having any parents or for not having the necessary materials for class, they weren't important to him and he didn't really care about them at all. The plentiful food and the abundance of knowledge were enough for him to lead a happy school life.

Lecturer Hae-ul Park was an experienced math lecturer, having been in the profession for ten years, and was placed in charge of after school math class. He had graduated a renowned university and escaped the threat of unemployment by acquiring a certificate as an after school lecturer. His experience as a private tutor had made him overconfident about taking on the job, but the struggles of working with elementary school children had taught him otherwise. That was only in the beginning, though, and after ten years, he felt relaxed enough to call himself a veteran lecturer. Or at least, that's how he felt until this moment.

&quot;Mr. Park? Is this also called a circle? But why?&quot;
Hae-ul looked at the boy, who was pointing at an ellipse with eyes full of curiosity, and felt beads of sweat forming at his forehead. Considering elementary school curriculum, it was difficult to properly explain ellipses, especially to a first grader. &quot;Well, remember learning that round things are called circles?&quot; He asked, attempting to explain in a way he could understand. &quot;This is also round, right? It's not really a true circle, but it looks really similar, so we say that it's part of the circle family.&quot; Common sense dictated that elementary schoolers have difficulty understanding official, formal definitions, which is why they were taught geometry through comparison to other shapes or objects. For example, rather than explaining circles as &quot;a set of all points in a plane that are at a given distance from a given point,&quot; it was easier to compare them to basketballs, globes, or coins, which are all circular in shape.

However, the boy seemed wholly dissatisfied with this answer. &quot;If being round is all that it takes, then is this also considered a circle?&quot; He held up a drawing of a star, with all the corners rounded out. Hae-ul forced himself to smile and frantically tried to find the right words to help the boy understand, finally coming up with an appropriate solution. Before he could even open his mouth, the boy continued. &quot;This book says that circles are polygons that have a center and a diameter. All the illustrations have the same diameter across the circle, but this one has a long diameter and a short diameter. Isn't that why it's not a circle?&quot;

Hae-ul couldn't help but admire the boy in front of him, and admitted to himself that he had to reevaluate him entirely. At the very least, he couldn't treat a student who had understood the concept of a diameter simply by reading the textbook the same way he treated the other first graders. &quot;I know that it can be a bit hard to understand for you all, but shall I try to explain it the same way I would explain it to your older siblings?&quot; Perhaps, he thought, it wasn't a bad idea to set an upper limit for the other children, who were now looking at him wide-eyed, all wondering how this would end. So he took to explaining geometry by providing standard, mathematical explanations to the children. &quot;A triangle,&quot; he began, &quot;is a shape formed by connecting three points together, here, here, and here. It's important that none of these three points are in the same line.&quot;

Hae-ul took a piece of kimchi and ate it while frowning at the thought of what had happened, which apparently struck his companion as funny and she began to laugh uncontrollably. It was Hae-ul's friend and coworker, Mijin, who taught Writing and Composition. The two teachers had come to a gamja-tang* place after work to have dinner and wind down. Mijin had been hired at Hyewoon Elementary before Hae-ul, and after his acceptance as a lecturer, she had reached out to him first. Coincidentally, they were the same age, and their friendship took off, going out to eat or drink every so often.

&quot;I'm telling you, that kid's a genius. I don't mean that like &quot;oh I guess he's smart.&quot; No, he's a true genius. You should hear him present in my classes. Makes me wonder if he really is just an elementary school kid. And a first grader at that! If it was just hearsay, I wouldn't even bother to care, but this is actually happening right in front of me. How could I not believe it?&quot; Mijin downed a glass of soju after saying her piece, and when she grimaced at its bitter taste, Hae-ul offered her some water.

&quot;You know,&quot; Hae-ul said, &quot;he used to be just like the other kids. Quieter, even. He wouldn't even say a word, right? But then one say he starts to ask a few questions here and there, and now it's like he's got an engine in his mouth. It's nonstop.&quot;
&quot;Same here! I had no idea he could speak so well. Writing and composition? Give him a couple more years and he could take university entrance essay exams.&quot;

&quot;I did, didn't I? I do love hyperbole.&quot;

The two laughed and drank their soju. Then they dipped their spoons into the boiling gamja-tang, and slowly but surely started to fill their stomachs with food.

A boy who was living an ordinary life in another world suddenly came to the present world.

Social systems, way of life and morals... They have all changed.

How will the boy try to survive?

What kind of life will the boy live?

Barda was doing his rounds in the smithing rooms. Due to the influx of more people to work with, the adventurer team had been forced to rent more smith shops for its work. They now had 3 rooms each holding 5 smiths hard at work. 

Kia was the finest blacksmith among the recruits, no question about that. He had joined in as a certified blacksmith, and he'd been doing his best to impress Barda with his skills. There were 3 other certified blacksmiths, tallying them to 5 if you include Barda. 

Barda knew what they were after, the secret to his new invention, high carbon steel. He had had to tweak a few things, but the basic idea was still the same. He had formed the new procedure buy modifying a few things. No magic, no fanciness, just good math, and precision. In Barda's case, both were so overpowered they could be considered a cheat. He has also some experience with machinery as a spy. 

The blacksmiths had thought they would have to go above and beyond to get it. In their minds, no one would willingly give out such a treasure easily. They were prepared to pay the price for it, knowing that the genius who came up with the new design was well within his right to demand much of them. 

This thought was shattered when Barda had given them each a copy. He then instructed them to master it and learn to reproduce it. The good thing with dealing with these certified blacksmiths was that they could read the design and reproduce from it. 

For one to be considered a certified blacksmith, they had to have come from a recognized training school. Naturally, the bigger the school and its status, the higher the value of the certificate. Gaining certification, however, was no easy task. 

These blacksmiths and various other craftspeople had to go through arduous hours of training in the institute as well as pass various tests before they could gain recognition. The students would carry the name of the school with them, and they had to be stellar before the schools would allow them to. 

The training forged ordinary people into splendid craftspeople, leagues above anyone who'd been an apprentice. They were the choice hires for kings and aristocrats, their status and recognition giving them access to the high and mighty in the society. 

Such people wouldn't ordinarily join an adventurer team, but after seeing and hearing about the new weapons, they were impressed. Everyone wanted to move with the tide, and as it always is, development and technological advancement are always at their peak in times of war. With a genius emerging, it made sense that those that didn't have as much privilege and status as their peers would opt to ride on the coattails of innovative people. 

They quickly learned the designs and could reproduce to 70% efficiency. That was good enough for Barda, if everyone could do as he did, then he wouldn't be the genius now, would he? 

Barda was planning on changing the look of the Dark Flames team completely. Despite the obvious disadvantages of wearing a uniform, there was a reason several armies across worlds chose to wear them. It fostered a sense of unity and togetherness. This was what Barda wanted to achieve. 

They had discussed this at length with the other vice commanders and Lady Ellen that day, and his request was granted. Many were excited by the possibilities this presented. There was also the fact that they now trusted Barda as an excellent blacksmith. To be outfitted by the best, who wouldn't want that. They were pumping all forms of income they could get into this project. This would make a name for their adventurer team.

For this reason, Barda had Kia and one other blacksmith focus on producing the steel solutions for the new weaponry. They had been the ones who produced the best. The work of molding the steel to weapons was given to one blacksmith and 4 other apprentice blacksmiths. Apprentice blacksmiths were the kind that had learned or was learning through apprenticeship. The guys he had trained fell in this category. 

However, this time, Barda had them arranged into sections. He trained each section on how to do one particular thing and only that thing. In the first section, the steel was forged. The second section and subsequent sections reshaped a portion of it according to their needs.

The rest of the workers each had their part to play. As such, after working on one thing over and over again, it became muscle memory. They could achieve precision without effort, like a well-oiled machine. That was what it was. Yes, you guessed it, we are talking about an assembly line. 

Pardon my plagiarism, hence I must confess I have airlifted this straight from Investopedia, but I like its definition: An assembly line is a production process that breaks the manufacture of a good into steps that are completed in a pre-defined sequence. Assembly lines are the most commonly used method in the mass production of products. They can reduce labor costs because unskilled workers could be easily trained to perform specific tasks. 

Right off the bat, Barda had exposed 2 modern ideas in the society. Everyone present had to admit that they were impressed. The smooth flow of the steel and other materials such as leather and hide from start to finish was magnificent. No one could claim that they had worked on this batch of weapons, but they could claim they had worked on every weapon. 

Everyone present had to admit they were stupefied by the utter brilliance of it all. Every step was choreographed since everyone knew their role to play. It seemed an obvious concept when you thought about it after the fact, but it would have taken a genius to come up with it. Hats off the genius that came up with it in the first place. 

Due to the efficiency, time and production costs were cut by a large fraction, making what would have been a money hole bearable to the team's finances. That and the major resources flowing in made the team remain afloat and able to meet her obligations. 

By the evening, the team had made enough to arm 50 men. With the new equipment, a vice-commander led his team to crash with the enemy at the front lines, one of the most paying jobs and simultaneously the least popular, for obvious reasons. 

Due to the fuzz about the sword given to Lady Ellen, many people were curious about the performance of these weapons and whether they were as good as everyone said they were. After all, it could all be just hype, nothing more. 

Lord Juma was one of the lead-certified smith and scholar from the Gazan school. He was renowned for his ideas in steel modeling. He was known for seeking methods of merging carbon from coal with wrought iron but had produced failures due to impurities inherent in both. To make such an alloy, one needed to be extremely precise in their handling, not to mention precise equipment. 

When he first heard of a new genius coming up, he was not shocked. However, he was shocked to learn that the new genius was someone he had not heard before. He also did not follow the procedure one would take when they discovered a new weapon. It was as though they didn't know it, or to them, this was not a new invention. Either way, his curiosity had been piqued. 

Not just him though, everyone wanted to find out what was so good about this new weaponry. The moment they heard that an entire team had been outfitted with the new armor, they had to find out.

Nada, one of the vice-commanders left behind by Lady Ellen, walked to where Barda was. They chatted for a while. Both being vice commanders, neither outranked the other.
