Hah... You dear readers may be thinking what's taking me so long to release my new chapter, but what really is bothering is how I can't seem to figure out how to write an 'innocent' story.

I mean, I approached my own story with the mindset of making it basically a murder mystery with Servants added to spice up the plot, but I can't seem feel interest towards my own story....

I mean, I'm interested in this series, which is why I can update so fast despite how recent chapters are dealing with pretty sensitive topics, but I can't seem to find love for the story I myself created.

The same for my past works... Now I'm wondering if I fell into a phase or have burnt some brain cells as I was writing this fanfic... What a mess. Maybe the recent IRL stuff are making me too 'realistic'...

Damn, realism kills the mood in my opinion. People say those stories where characters say cheesy lines like 'I love you' and 'Because we are friends' are bad, but are they really...? I mean, the Author of Fairy Tail is still standing strong and he doesn't even have a proper magic system, only tales of characters fighting for their friends and whatnot.

One Piece is no different. Though we Westerners don't have 'Nakama' but friends who we always hang out with. I miss being able to write those type of heartfelt stories without being beaten black and blue by my own nihilism telling me 'Hey, this rarely happens in real life! It isn't interesting enough...!'.

I miss those time when tragedy and hopelessness wasn't as comedic as it is right now. 

I miss it when random bouts of kindness from strangers wasn't used as a plot device but more as something positive. In martial art fiction, that whole arc where the MC is injured and has to live off the kindness of others temporarily wouldn't work if everyone was truly a-holes in Xianxia or Wuxia.

Though I don't deny that I too find pleasure in another's pain as long as it is on the other side of the TV screen.

Well, enough of my rambling... I guess I'm depressed out of having a writing block. Will update once the first chapter of my original story is done!

I’m revamping this story after being inspired by Oregairu and splitting off from the other entries of Battlefield Restart despite having close ties to it. It’s a story about a someone who had become such a target for bullying that it warped his mindset harshly.

The story is about him gradually forming meaningful connections and reaching out to others himself.



It was a typical art class. Dona hadn't arrived and Crystal was worried. 

"Dona, I'm going to start the class. Please get back to me when you can." She dropped the phone. Her tiny students were at their stations, each at their own easel. Her apron was marked with paint already, and she hadn't even started. She clapped her hands to get their attention. 

"Ok class, today's topic is abstract expressionism. "She looked around and found many puzzled faces. The only one without a question mark on their head was her top student. 

"The only thing you need to understand is, what does abstract mean?" 

A blonde boy with freckles put up his hand. "Yes Will?" 

"It means funny." He smiled. 

Crystal was so amused by their understanding of art. They just needed to know the basics of course. 

"Explain 'funny' Will?" 

He held his face. "Funny like your face can be squished." 

She smiled and nodded. "Oh yes, you remember that other picture I showed you." 

His eyes perked up and he nodded so hard his head looked like it would fall off. 

"Anyone else has any idea?" They were all puzzled and so she turned to the screen. "Let's see the differences shall we." The projector switched on. 

There were three images, one of a naturalistic landscape, the other was an abstraction of an object and the last was a detailed realism portrait. 

"What are the differences between these?" She turned to them. " Which would be the abstract picture?" 

A small voice from the front spoke. " The second one." 

 It was Emily, sitting quietly with her black curls surrounding her face. Crystal smiled." Well done Emily. How could you tell?" 

"The other pictures didn't mean anything." 

Crystal walked towards the front and bent to be in eye-level with Penelope. 

"All art has meaning Penelope. What do you mean ?" 

 Penelope looked up at her, with wide eyes." Oh yes sorry, I didn't mean to say that." She merrily went about her painting. She was using a lot of red, meshed with ink. It looked like a flower of some kind. 

 " Is that a flower?" Crystal caught her attention. 

 "Yes it's like something my dad made." she smiled. 

"Does your dad paint?" 

She nodded." But he loves to make stuff with his hands." 

Crystal smiled. "Does he make your flowers?" 

"No." She tilted her head."He makes them for other people." 

Crystal nodded."That's sweet." And with that, she went back to her lesson regarding Jason Pollock. Dona hadn't shown up at all and she left her many messages. She didn't have Harry's number but would try to message him via Facebook later. 

Her class ended and parents came about to fetch their children. Penelope was the last to leave, which was quite unusual. Her father had a tendency to disappear at first notice. In fact, Crystal couldn't really remember his face. Until the door opened, and he showed up in a tailored suit that made her suck in a breath. 

He bent down to pick up his daughter and snuggled her with kisses. Crystals heart warmed at the sight and she noticed that she was staring and looked to the floor. She had never been intimidated by men, but for some reason, this mans presence was dominating. 

" Sorry, I'm so late." His voice was husky. 

"It's no problem, Penelope did great-as always." 

He nodded and she noticed his jaw flinch. " You're miss Campbell I presume? My apologies for never having a proper consultation. I usually leave her with the other women at the front desk. Rose." 

She tucked a strand of her hair behind her ear. " Yes, that's no problem. Rose is my usual assistant." 

"I noticed she wasn't in today. Is she ok?" 

"Yes, she just caught the flu. It is the rainy season after all." He looked disappointed, and she wanted to change that quick. 

"Did you need anything from Rose? I can give you her details, I'll just have to check with her first." 

He looked at her with amusement. " Well Rose is usually my model." 

Crystals eyebrow flinched. 

He smiled at her confusion." As a reference for my art." 

His smile almost made her a loss for words. " Oh." She laughed. 

"Are you an artist?" She wanted to know more about him. 

He looked around her studio. " I dabble".What caught his eye was the missing person poster pinned on the small board behind her. The little girl resembled his little bird. He murmured under his breath. With Emily still at his side, with his other hand, he pulled a card from his blazer pocket. "Have you ever looked into Modeling Ms Campbell?" 

She blushed." What me? No." She swatted her hand. 

"I'm busy with a small project and need more than one reference." He handed it to her." Call me if you're interested." 

He winked and walked to the door. She stared at the card, and it was pitch black with a number in the middle. Even his card was intimidating. 

"Oh yes, and by the way." He turned his head a little. 

"My project has something to do with Jason Pollock." 

Crystals grin turned into a wide smile. And he reciprocated the smile, pleased with himself. He knew that he got her.

Vincent followed Ella up the stairs and into her apartment. It was small, cluttered. Books were stacked high and used as stands for lamps and candles. There was a small loveseat and a chair in the living room and it looked like two bedrooms and one bathroom. The kitchen was open and clean. Two barstools sat at a small bakers cart with wheels in the middle. "I can't make a latte. I just have cream and sugar." She said. 
"Black is fine." He said. 
She looked at him and frowned. "Yikes. What are you? A psychopath?" She asked, without smiling.  He felt uneasy for a moment. "I… "
She burst out laughing. "It's a joke. Some article said people who drink their coffee black had psychopathic tendencies or something like that. I don't know. I don't care what so called experts say about the human experience. No one knows shit about a person until they walk in their shoes." She said, moving around the kitchen and putting a small cup in the single cup maker. 
She looked at him and smiled. Her entire face lit up when she smiled. Just like Elena. She was identical to her. For a moment, he felt himself go back, back in time, to her palace. To her bed. 
"Vincent, are you ok?" Ella asked. 
"Yes. Sorry. I have had a busy day. Lots on my mind." He said. "So, how long have you been in the city?" He knew the answer. 
"A few months. I finally decided to grow some balls and apply at the art school. They accepted me, which was unexpected, and I talked to  Connor, who had asked me to come to Chicago several times before because he was in need of a roommate, and here I am." She said. 
He laughed. "Grow some balls?" He asked. 
"Yeah. Sorry. Crude, right? Let me rephrase that. I gathered up the courage to apply." She said with a giggle. She was funny. And smart. 
"What style of art do you create?" He asked. 
"Digital, primarily. But I paint, also." She said shyly. 
"May I see some of your work?" He asked. 
"Ok." She said, slightly apprehensively. She opened a Mac book and turned it towards him. 
A realistic painting of a boy with long, wild black hair a clear blue eyes looked back at him. There were dark trees and a full moon behind him. "I call myself an imaginative realist painter. I love classical realism of the renaissance and baroque periods and also have a passion for sci-fi and fantasy. I try to explore themes of psychology and philosophy, and really like to explore what gives a thing its substance, its soul." She explained. It was incredible. 
"You made this all on the computer?" He asked. 
"Yes." She said with a smile. "Would you like to see more?" She asked. She looked at him with something he couldn't quite read. She was confident and yet, fearful. 
"Please." He said. 
She scrolled though and showed him several other works of hers. There was the boy again, only older. A young man. He felt a wave of anxiousness and excitement pulse through him as he looked at a portrait of… himself. It was him. Every single painting was a perfectly executed likeness of him. 
"I've been painting this beautiful man since I first picked up a brush. He was the reason I began painting in the first place, actually. I had to paint him. I used to see him, in my dreams. His face. His hands. When I was a child, he was an angel, rocking me in my dreams off to sleep again. And as I got older, he was a knight, a prince, a demon, all coming for me." She said. "Loving me. Holding me. Making me his." She closed the computer and looked at him. Leaning in closely and looking into his eyes. 
"I saw him, in person, today. At my coffee shop." She said directly. "I'd know him anywhere. I couldn't believe it at first. Then, I saw him again and I knew. I've been painting… you. I know it's you." She said. Vincent's eyes didn't leave hers. He didn't say anything at first. He didn't know what to say. 
"Who are you, Vincent?" She asked.
