Theo began training whenever possible for the strenuous Navy SEAL assessment test. He told his immediate supervisor of his desire to be a SEAL. The supervisor said "Blue don't be glory hunting, you don't want to be a Navy Frogman just do your job here and be a good clerk".



Another name for Navy SEALs is Navy Frogmen. Before the SEALs were commissioned in 1962 the World War II underwater demolition teams were called Frogmen. Blue most certainly did want to be a Frogman. The fact that Theo's barracks was across the street from where Navy SEAL team UDT 21 resided only fueled the drive to pursue his dream. Blue felt that fate brought him to Little Creek for a reason. That reason was crystal clear to the young man from South Florida, he was destined to become be a Navy SEAL.



On weekends when his buddies were going to clubs Blue was exercising in his room preparing himself to apply for SEAL training. Theo spent the next few months working in administration and working out.



Theo was jogging along the beach one evening and he found a partial page from a demolition instruction manual. Theo ran along the same beach where the Navy SEALs would conduct there demolition training. Theo would hear the explosions from the base and get even more excited about becoming a Navy SEAL.



During one of Blue's evening beach runs he encountered a Navy SEAL from UDT 21. Theo jogged alongside the sailor and told him of his wish join a SEAL team. The SEAL gave Theo a pair of jungle boots and told him to run in them. The two became friends and Theo was able to get a few hints on how to prepare for SEAL training.



In March of 1975 Theo met with the recruiter for the east coast SEAL teams and provided the necessary paperwork. The recruiter put Blue through the initial physical assessment, which consisted of pushups, sit-ups, running and swimming. Blue fulfilled all the physical requirements and his completed application was submitted to the Bureau of Naval Personal. In Theo's mind he was on the way to training and would soon be shipped to San Diego California for Basic Underwater Demolition SEAL training commonly known as BUDS.



Six weeks passed before Theo received a letter from the Navy.



Theo opened the letter and was devastated to see that he had been denied entrance to BUDS. According to the letter his ASVAB score was five points below the requirement. The Armed Forces Vocational Aptitude Battery was designed to measure an individual's aptitude to be trained in a specific job.



Theo was resolved to become a Navy Frogman and was determined to raise his score and retake the SEAL assessment. Blue was told that he could reapply in six months to become a Navy SEAL trainee.



Theo did not have to wait six months; two months later the SEAL recruiter called and said that they had lowered the score requirement on the written test. Blue was encouraged to reapply immediately.



Theo was an administration guy so the next day he resubmitted his request for SEAL training to the Navy for consideration. Theo was optimistic this time and Blue began telling his friends that he was going to California for SEAL training.



A few weeks later another letter from the Navy arrived. This time the letter said that he had been accepted for Navy SEAL training. Theo went back to work and typed up his own orders and submitted them for the appropriate signatures.

At least, he thought, he had a plan, a purpose for after the SEALs, which so many men he knew did not.
A few strokes of a pen had turned the company over to him. It was like putting on an old familiar sweater, and he had to admit he loved it. The fishing. Watching the sunsets. Being on the water. Reconnecting with some old friends.
Today had been great, catchwise. He had a top quality crew and top-notch captains for the other three boats, but his life had holes in it. Perhaps he'd left attention to the personal part too long. Maybe that was why he couldn't get rid of this restless feeling.
Shaking his head, he started the engine, pulled out of the lot, and headed for home. These days that was a small New England colonial with a wide front porch. He'd thought of renting, but Sunset Harbor, as small as it was, only had two rental complexes, and neither one really appealed to him.
What if she doesn't like it?
He had no fucking idea who she was, or how or when he'd even meet a she. He obviously hadn't prepared well on that front. Just dragged his sorry ass back to Sunset Harbor, took over the reins of DiSalvo Commercial Fishing, plunked down a deposit on the house, and somehow expected his life to suddenly come together. The first six months he'd been busy getting reacclimated to civilian life, to his small hometown, and reconnecting with some of the people he'd known years before. As long as his right hand held up, he hadn't missed female companionship.
But he felt it was time to make some changes in his life in that direction. Now that he had a stable, settled life, he didn't want to live it alone. Not that he'd made a real effort to find female companionship. But he was growing tired of moving from one day to the next and wondering if this was a sad forecast of the rest of his future.
With a sigh, he showered off the fish smell and pulled on clean jeans and a DiSalvo T-shirt, checked the dismal contents of the fridge, and decided he'd have dinner and a beer at The Rusty Scupper. Ted Doyle always served the best food, didn't pester him with questions, and he could hang out or not.
Less than thirty minutes later he was situated on a stool at the polished oak bar at the Scupper, sipping on a local craft beer and waiting for his meatloaf and mashed potatoes. A not very glamourous meal but damn! Nobody made it better than Ted's cook. Maybe when he found a woman that would be one of the requirements. But first he had to start looking, and Sunset Harbor had a woefully short list of candidates.
"Here you go." Ted slid the plate onto the counter in front of him, the fragrance of the food drifting up in a cloud of steam.
"Man, if your cook was single, I might have to marry him," he joked.
"Maybe you can catch him on one of the nights his wife kicks him out of the house. Enjoy."
He was just swallowing the last bite of his dinner and working his way through his second beer when a hand clapped down on his shoulder. At first, he tensed, wondering who was touching him that way. But when he turned his head, he found himself smiling.
"Crash? Holy shit, is that you? Dan, it's good to see you." He looked the man up and down. "But what the hell kind of costume party you dressed up for?"

"Second, the technique inscription requires a pure internal state of the body. I have achieved this, too." He had gotten rid of the powers he had accumulated in the past in exchange for his pure bodily state. "Now, let's begin."
Streaks of navy-blue soul power came out from the tip of his forefinger. He glided his finger over the lake and cut a long and narrow blue line on the surface.
"It works!"
Lin Sheng felt relieved, knowing the first of leaving a mark was a success. Inscribing the technique would be next.
"Inscribing the technique requires loads of soul power. My soul power should suffice."
Following the technique of the Reflector of Souls, he started inscribing on the lake surface. In just a few moments, a complex pattern of concentric circles appeared. The innermost circle contained an irregular pattern like a bunch of strings. The middle circle had eighteen uniform-sized triangles, each of which contained a distinct character and symbol. The outermost circle comprised six small rings, inside which were a pattern of vine-entangled swords.
It was a complex and exquisite pattern of technique. It would have taken an average human several days to perform this meticulous work. But Lin Sheng's powerful soul power had given him an extreme level of concentration. All he took was half an hour of total concentration to complete the pattern.
"Done. The core technique is complete. Next step."
He willed his consciousness to come out of Lake Yu, back to his bodily level. Using the high-concentrate of soul power, he inscribed the simplified version of the secondary technique. The result was 100 techniques neatly inscribed in his body. By the time he came out of the inscription state, the sky outside was again turning dark.
"I'm not awake yet? I've been sleeping for a long time." Lin Sheng exhaled, glancing at the darkening sky. "Something is right about the rate of flow of time in this place. As the last magic seal formed, Lin Sheng willed his soul power to form a circle of soul ripple expanded into all directions, and shroud all the runes and magic seals.
"It's done."
Looking at the runes and magic seals that were linked as if stripes of blue ribbon around him, he smiled. At that time, he could feel the inscription technique inside him resonate with the runes and magic seals on the outside. The technique began to absorb his soul power like a massive sinkhole swallowing up a lake. His soul power was all gone.
Without the soul power, Lin Sheng's consciousness should have fallen into a muddle. But because of the power of the Dark Wheel, he was still well awake, observing the changes of the technique inside him.
Not long after, the technique that had absorbed the soul power began to release back plumes of soul power, of which the shade of navy blue was deeper than the initial compressed soul power's.
"Awesome!" Lin Sheng looked in amazement. "It was so easy to refine the soul power into a higher level of concentration. This Reflector of Souls is remarkable!"
The concentration of soul power was akin to the temperature of flame. The difference between a 600°C flame and a 6,000°C flame was like day and night. So too the soul power.
Feeling the high-concentrate of soul power surging in him, his body began to be filled and controlled by this whole new level of energy. Within a few moments, he felt he could think faster, his body more agile, self-healing ability increasing, and perception of the environment more sensitive. Everything seemed to have improved by a wide margin.
"Perceptibility, self-healing ability, resistance, and even intelligence has been elevated. Awesome!"
This came even before his body had completely converted into the new state of highly concentrated soul power. He could almost see the level of improvement he would experience once that happened.
"Next will be to cultivate the soul power, letting the highly concentrated, highly refined soul power fill my body."
Lin Sheng looked at the steps described in the Reflector of Souls technique and got a better sense of direction. The sound of the clock ticking came suddenly, coming near from afar.
"It's time to wake up." Lin Sheng opened his eyes and saw the colors transformed before his eyes. In a split second, he was back in the house in his dream. Following immediately, his surroundings began to turn dark. He opened his eyes a few seconds later, waking up in his bed in the sanctum. Sitting up in bed, he checked his mobile phone beside the bed for date and time.
"Just one day has passed?"
He was a little surprised. He had spent a long time in the dream to get the enlightenment of the deepest part of his soul. He thought half a month must have passed in the actual world by the time he woke up. But it turned out to be just a day.
"That is an enormous difference in the rate of flow of time." This dream puzzled him. The last time he went in, he thought many days must have passed when he came out.


This is a story of an ordinary boy gaining unusual powers from his nightmares... It all started when Lin Sheng experienced something strange on what he thought was just another normal day. He begins to have recurring dreams that lead him on an incredible journey of discovery as he encounters spine-chilling monsters and elusive secrets.

Let's talk about Remnant and Earth.

Remnant had a single currency, the Lien, and its entire economy was still making use of the Gold Standard.

Quick economic lesson: Gold Standard is when the value of a coin is dictated by the gold reserves available to a nation. So that meant that, while Dust was the most mined material, it was still outclassed for 'worth' by Precious Metals (Gold, Silver and Diamonds the like).

As you all know, all races refer to the planet as Remnant. On Remnant there are five continents. However, only three of them are inhabited by mankind, and on these continents there exist only 4 known kingdoms: Atlas in the north continent, Mistral in the east continent, Vacuo and Vale in the middle continent. The other two regions are officially unexplored. Any attempts to immigrate over and establish a foothold has been halted by extremely High/Ancient Grimm concentrations. It is known that there are no obvious evidence of human civilizations due to extended investigations done by airships. To this day, 500 years after the most ancient records of history, only our four kingdoms still exist.

Their equipment is good enough to kill the average Grimm.

Us people of Earth have lived through hundreds of wars, billions of people, and nukes. Oh many nukes. Besides the nukes the Military powers of these super powers easily reaches over millions of service men and women. We really don't have a liking for each other sometimes, but combined, would be a force to be reckoned with. So, lets talk firepower.
To Compare I'm only going to compare 3 countries, USA, Russia, and China. The big boys

So these stats prove that Earth might not have dust, but we are packin' with resources. But grimm are infinite right? Well that's a huge issue. We could deal with it though. War time production and our available assets would allow us to push the Grimm to a point the size of Great Britain.
We have over a hundred thousand ground vehicles: MBTs, SPGs, Self-Propelled-Artillery, SPAAs, and Light Armored Vehicles. But the Grimm can be any size shape and form, and they're infinite! Yes but even a Grimm that resembles a ghost got kill by Harriet with a punch. Imagine what 100 tanks would do. Yes limited ammo would be a problem but a steady supply chain and front defense would make any armored regiment almost unstoppable, unless Grimm can develop a way to shoot a APFSDS round. Don't let em get even close to the tanks, killing from afar would be essential. The Light ground vehicles, like the BMPs and Bradleys would back up the tanks from smaller units. And SPAAs would get overwhelmed but they would be backed up by the air force.
The air would be a massacre, It was brought to my knowledge that aerial Grimm could travel over 300 mph, The F22 is Mach 2, over 1500 mph. That's hella fast, WAY faster than any Grimm and the Argus Limited. We would have aerial control easily.
In the Sea is a more difficult answer, ships a kinda slow. A Grimm big enough could just, flip it over. The whole plan of navy would be strength in numbers. Combining all our eggs in one basket and protect each other, the same for the Army too. Tanks are Fast, but I want to bet Grimm could outrun and flip a M1 Abrams over quite easily. So as I said, strength in numbers. I summon u/JMHSrowing because I don't know a lot about warships.
Grimm's whole gimmick is when people panic they show up and fuckin' kill everyone. So keeping troops moral high and ready is crucial to the containment. Obviously we can't win against an infinite enemy, but we could contain. Assuming the Earth's Grimm would be like Remnant's and all come from one source. We should over do it, wasting resources on killing Grimm is the number 1 problem, we have to have discipline. We would probably develop a way to kill many Grimm easily without sending the planet into nuclear apocalypse.
Do I think we could do it. Probably we got the manpower and technology to win against Grimm. If I overlooked an aspect lemme know. But from what I've researched and seen from the show. If Ruby, a 17 year old with a 50 cal and a over-sized garden utensil can kill a Bloodthirsty animal 2 times her size, a marine could too.

except for the fact that most soldier on remnant would both be superhumanly fast AND bulletproof. we would get slaughtered in every engagement cause only our side would suffer casualties. a huntsman would probably be able to deal with armored vehicles with ease let alone massacre entire platoons by themselves.

when it comes to the Grimm, they adapt and energy projection seems to manifest commonly enough that they could probably destroy our war machines easily. in fact a nuclear missile would probably be to the grimms' advantage. then they would evolve to emit radioactivity, and thus you have to deal with that.

In fact a desperate remnant would possibly do that themselves. Their aura protects them from heat and cold alike, so its likelay that it can protect from radiation too.

Honestly I'm not so sure about it. The initial arrival of Grimm into the modern world would cause mass panic and mayhem, and it would take some time for the military to properly mobilize and regain control. Depending on how the Grimm arrived, entire towns and small cities could easily be destroyed overnight, and third-world countries would surely be wiped out. Somany people would die before the various militaries finally got control over the situation, and that would only be in countries with strong militaries. I do think humanity would regain control, yes, but it would take a serious hit to population she infrastructure all over the world, and less densely populated areas may basically cease to exist.
Again, I think eventually humanity would regain control, and do okay, but the population would suffer greatly, tons of major infrastructure would be made non-existent, and the viable living space for humanity would plummet. After that, humanity would survive just fine, but unless the percentage of people signing up for the militaries skyrocketed (which it might) humanity might have trouble retaking land.

Edit 2: yes a marine could take a Grimm, but Ruby could absolutely take a marine, no doubt about it. Every huntsman and huntresses is a supersoldier, Captain America level minimum. Aura is a huge advantage, and it'll take some time for even high power weapons to break it. Huntsmen and huntresses are people that dedicate every part of their life to fighting, going above and beyond with it. Even in the world of Remnant, there after guards and (military?) and other super competent fighters, but they don't hold a candle to huntsman-level fighters. And that's not even thinking about Semblances.
Ruby alone could surely take several Marines at least.

Hunters seem very variable. Remember the two on the train? Some are great, others really aren't. Also, anyone with largely melee attacks has the disadvantage of needing to get in close - when there's a lot of people shooting at you, that's not great, once aura is gone, you're only squishy meat. One-one-one, yeah, the person with superhuman powers is better, but there's likely a hell of a lot more soldiers than hunters, and they are trained to work together. 'Dedicate every part of their life to fighting' also seems a stretch - Tai quit to become a teacher, Qrow's an alcoholic, Jaune did no training at all prior to joining. Some might be super-dedicated, but some do have families and stuff, or will take easy jobs and not stretch themselves.

i think marines could only take very young grimm. anything old enough to have learned to adapt to gunfire would butcher them with absolute ease. Grimm adapt in both itnelelct and physiology.

We would need very sustainable ammunition. Other than that, we would be fine if we could successfully setup and maintain barriers. Subterranean grim would be the biggest problem.

Remnant is full of superhumans that have access to their own soul as a passive shield and have done more at age 15 than most of us have. I think we could fight off "normal" Grimm like Ursa, Beowolves, and the small fry. But wyverns? Leviathans? Flying monkeys? Yeah no. Our Air Force and Navy are strong but they aren't equipped to take on giant monsters.
Plus Remnant has maidens, and unless our world leaders are hiding people with special powers, we don't. Maidens like Cinder or Raven could wipe out an entire city before reinforcements arrive.
We'd put up a good fight, but it's hard to win when 1 huntsman can be worth up to 5-10 standard soldiers.

Well yeah, do realized I was just talkin' Grimm, Cinder or Raven would decimate us in hours, but I think their powers are finite. The giant Grimm in my eyes is like Godzilla, kill it like bacteria kills a host. From the inside slowly. We got weapons that are definitely capable to penetrate armor thicker than 600mm, so Grimm hide can't all be that different. Do realize Earth has maybe 10x the man power of Remnant, and our special ops, the Marines, SEALs, the Russian Spetsnaz would adjust from killing humans, to becoming huntsman of our own.

except that said giant monster would likely be rapidly adapting to every engagement and would develop hide that can in fact withstand armor piercing rounds. then you would have to deal with grimm that have adapted to human strategy too.
I am pretty sure that most remnant technology surpasses out weaponry. And when you got grimm that can tank sniper bulelts not only going as fast as our most advanced model, but also explode on contact? We would have to catch up majorly.

Grimm lack actual self preservation so its not implausible that a grimm would simply ensure its in the path of a drone or plane and simply let the collision do the work, especially if directed to do so by smarter grimm.

'Full of' is probably an exaggeration - hunters seem pretty rare, and some are kinda pants (the two on the train, for example, were pros, but awful. Yang a group can basically run away from, especially in dense terrain. Blake can kill someone faster with a knife than a normal person, but otherwise has some guns, with all the offensive power of... some guns). Also, aura isn't instant or automatic, so sustained combat will wear them down fast. Given that the hunter population of an entire kingdom (i.e. a large % of the world population) had been largely eliminated by Hazel and Tyrian, then being worth 5-10 soldiers isn't that helpful, because there's a whole helluva a lot of soldiers, but not that many hunters, and some are just don't have useful skills to being to bear (virtually all Remnant combat seems to occur within, what 100 meters or so? Rain some mortars down, then retreat, repeat, and that'll wear aura down fast. Ambush them when sleeping, use smoke bombs, tear gas, chemical weapons).
Maidens we have no idea of their sustained offensive output or defensive abilities - they're still human, so have certain vulnerabilities (they need to see and breath, so teargas will have an effect, for example, as would flashbangs). They don't run out of magical energy, but that's about it. They may well get tired, so can get confused and disorientated and make mistakes. They don't seem to have reactions any greater than anyone else, so can be confused, fooled, and misled, or just overwhelmed or surprised.
