S: "Huh?"
Sora opened his eyes to find himself surrounded by a vast expanse of darkness, nothing could be seen in this place, but he didn't feel any danger, the last thing he could remember was preparing for the fight with Del and Rez, then crawling into his bed to go to sleep.
S: "Am I back?"
Sora looked around for anyone else but could only see the darkness, he was alone here.
S: "This isn't like last time..."
Sora kept looking around him, there was a looming threat that he could feel but not see in this place, it was completely different from last time. He was also completely conscious, this didn't feel like a dream - he couldn't wake up from it.
S: "Rin!"
Sora thought that if he could contact Rin somehow, he could get out of this place - him and Rin had formed a mental link long ago and it only grew stronger with the time they spent together, but even that was useless, the most Sora could do was see what was going on near his body, the most he could see was his room.
S: "Damnit! I can't contact her."
?: "Hey. You."
A voice boomed inside the vast expanse of darkness, it didn't seem like someone was shouting, the voice was just naturally loud - it was eerily calm. Sora was shocked and began scanning his surroundings even faster, he was in a state of panic.
S: "Who are you?!"
?: "No need for introductions, I already know who you are."
S: "Huh?!"
?: "You're the one I must kill in order to live freely."
S: "Live... freely?"
?: "Such a long distance from me... communication is hard to maintain at this range..."
S: "What?!"
?: "So weak... yet... you hold the most power over my conquest..."
Sora stayed quiet.
?: "The only way to win, is to destroy."
Sora's eyes widened, as he looked at what was happening outside he saw a cloaked figure, two red lights glowed from where it's eyes should be and their entire face was hidden behind their cloak.
S: "Hey! Get out of my place!!!"
?: "So what if I do? You cannot do anything."
Rin had not woken up, the figure was only a manifestation, it didn't exude aura, and it didn't make any noticeable sounds, a hand covered in fog began moving towards Rin.
S: "Don't touch her!!!"
?: "I'm just limiting the competition, whilst this manifestation can't directly kill the one who's trapped in sleep, it can effect their surroundings."
The hand got closer and closer to Rin.
S: "Damnit!!! I can't do anything!!!"

...

"I can."
A bright, thin light sped past Sora and disappeared from the expanse of darkness, seemingly teleporting to his room, the cloaked figure got hit by the light and let out a short screech before dissipating. The screech wasn't loud but it woke up Rin due to her sensitive hearing, she scanned her surroundings only to find that nothing was there. She felt safe near Sora but stayed awake just in case what she had sensed came back, she didn't want to wake up Sora either because of the fight tomorrow. Seeing that Rin had been awake and vigilant, Sora calmed down, that bright, thin light came from behind him, Sora turned around to see who it was and saw a young woman. This woman had green eyes, black hair and a slender, tall figure. She had an abnormal charm about her, one that didn't arouse nor show resistance to people. The clothes she wore were mostly made of fur and leathers, like what a viking would wear. She held a bow in her hand that was black in colour, a sort of solidified, dense manifestation of darkness - in her other hand she held an arrow made of light.
?: "You really are useless, to fall under such a weakened spell..."
Sora stayed silent, he knew that this person should be one of his predecessors judging from the weapon she held. The weapon in her hands disappeared in a flash of bright light as she walked towards Sora, as she stood directly in front of him he noticed the difference in their height, this woman was taller than him, not by much, but still taller. He kept his eyes down as she seemingly scanned him and muttered to herself.
?: "Foundation is... average. Current ability with 'Peace and Calamity' is... below average..."
She sighed.
?: "Oi, look up."
Sora looked up at the woman and their eyes met, he felt awkward being this close but she didn't seem to care.
?: "The name's Leah"
S: "Um, I'm-"
L: "Yeah I already know, we all do."
S: "Oh, okay..."
L: "You need to power up, you're nowhere near powerful enough."
S: "Huh?"
Sora knew how he felt about his own power but hearing it from someone who was actually experienced with the power, now he didn't know how to feel.
L: "That thing, the Demon King? It's way more powerful than you are now, this probably isn't the first time he's tried to kill you either."
Sora acknowledged this and thought back to any other times he nearly died through something mysterious.
S: "I knew that dark mist was linked somehow..."
L: "Well yeah, that's the obvious one, but there's probably times even before that."
S: "Hm? But I don't remember anything before that."
L: "Hmmm, so you don't know."
S: "Don't know what?"
L: "Nothing, guess he wants to keep it a secret."
Before Sora could keep asking questions Leah seemed to get distracted by something. She sighed and turned back and began walking away from Sora.
S: "Huh? Where are you going?"
L: "Time's up, someone's coming to wake you up."
S: "Wh-"
Before Sora could finish a figure wearing white clothes appeared in his room and immediately woke him up. Sora's body shot up as he backed away from the figure, Rin jumped next to him as they prepared to fight.
?: "Phew... so it really was just my imagination..."
As Sora's vision returned to him he slowly lowered his guard. Rin also left Sora's side and started rubbing up on the feet of the figure.
S: "M- Master?"
Y: "Yep, I sensed something over here and flew out straight away."
Yuin was wearing her nightwear and her hair was messed up, all of the people who had seen her on a daily basis had seen this side of her so they were used to it.
Y: "Lucky for me it was nothing."
Rin stopped rubbing up on Yuin and communicated with her.
Y: "Hm? You sensed it to?"
Rin nodded.
Y: "So it definitely has to be something..."
Yuin looked at Sora.
Y: "What about you, Sora?"
Sora wanted to speak up but didn't know if he should, he could easily tell them about the figure that had appeared without the details regarding 'Peace and Calamity', but Yuin would most likely question him about the missing parts of the story. He didn't really want to keep it a secret from Yuin either.
Y: "Well?"
Sora sighed, he trusted Yuin with his life anyway so why should he keep it a secret from her.
S: "Um... well..."
Sora explained what he saw whilst he was sleeping, and the woman that had appeared to save Rin.
Y: "Um, who is she then? You sure you're alright?"
Sora then went on to explain his power, including how he got it and when he got it.
S: "After gaining it from my predecessor, I fought with Seiju and eventually won against him, that's what Rin saw, and that's why my control over Light and Darkness is so good."
Yuin found all this hard to believe, anyone would. But...
Y: "That does explain alot."
Yuin picked up Rin and started petting her.
Y: "The Demon King, Predecessors on the level of the legends... and the fact that the power you have now is probably not even the beginning of what that thing you have can do... little hard to believe, no?"
S: "I'm not lying to you!"
Y: "I know you're not, you wouldn't lie, especially to me. But are you sure you didn't hit your head and start believing things that aren't real?"
Yuin's usually carefree expression was gone, she was more serious than he had ever seen her at this moment.
S: "I'm... I..."
Sora began to question how unrealistic this was, but he did meet up with his predecessors, he couldn't have just awoken to his affinity for Light and Darkness so suddenly.
S: "No, it is true, I've seen them with my own eyes."
Y: "Hmmmmmm..."
S: "If you don't belie-"
Y: "No, I believe you now."
S: "Huh?"
Yuin crouched down and let Rin jump off.
Y: "But there's something I must do to confirm it."
Yuin quickly dashed from her position to Sora, charging forward with her palm and hitting Sora in the chest, he felt an intense sting that immediately disappeared, it all happened so fast, he couldn't even react. Yuin had directly implanted her consciousness into Sora's aura, searching around for evidence of this 'power of his'. Outside, Sora noticed that Yuin had her eyes closed and could feel something swirming around inside him. Any thought he had, Yuin would hear.
S: "What are you doing?!"
Y: "Searching. Oh, an enclosed part of your aura. Let's test this out."
Yuin immediately began trying to break into it, the resistance was put up by Sora's predecessors. Sora had seen this ages ago and had tried breaking in himself, after guessing that it was put there by his predecessors he tried communicating with it, he didn't get anything back.
Y: "This resistance... hmm..."
Yuin seemed to stand still, floating in the sea of aura. Where a giant sphere of faint power floated above it. Yuin seemed to be communicating with the inside of the sphere, the sphere immediately opened and she went inside, not even Sora could see what was going on. After a while, the Yuin in reality woke up and sighed.
Y: "Such powerful presences, haven't felt that in a while..."
S: "Wha? What did you do?!"
Y: "Well, that thing in your sea of aura seemed to be resisting any physical way I tried to break in, so I came to the conclusion that the thing inside was just more powerful than I was, after talking to them, they let me in, but to think... 5 people on the level of a Legend... pretty good."
Yuin sat down on the seat next to Sora's desk, looking at the ground, there was a long, unbroken silence.
S: "Um... Master?"
Y: "Huh!? Oh, yeah. I should probably get out of here. I've been rude."
S: "No, no. It's just... what did you tell them? I've tried to communicate with them myself and they never let me in..."
Y: "Well..."
Yuin looked like she wanted to get out as soon as possible and was being extremely awkward.
S: "Well?"
Yuin looked at him and sighed.
Y: "Well... you told me your secret..."
Yuin walked towards Sora and held her hand out.
S: "Hm?"
Y: "Hold your hand out to mine"
Sora complied.
Yuin closed her eyes and slowly transferred some of her previous memories to him. What Sora saw shocked him.
S: "Y-You-You're..."
Yuin began walking to his window.
Y: "Yeah, don't tell anyone, it would just overcomplicate things..."
Yuin left as quickly as she arrived.
Sora was shocked as to what he saw, Rin was confused, she never saw Sora like this. A little while after Yuin left Sora quickly scrambled out of his bed and began going through his drawers, looking for something. Rin slowly walked towards him in confusion, she didn't know why Sora was like this, Yuin only shared what she did with Sora.
S: "Found it!"
Sora took a book out of his drawer, it was labelled 'The 100 Legends', this book held all confirmed to be alive Legends and any information held on them, some would have pages worth of information whilst some would only have their name. The way Legends lived was very carefree, they would live anywhere and could choose to be major presences in places or completely hidden from the outside world. Some people had the power of Legends and weren't even known. He quickly flipped through the book looking for a name.
S: "Position... Position 79!"
Sora turned the book until he found the Legend who held the 79th rank.
S: "So it's true..."
Sora fell back onto his bed, looking straight up at the ceiling then began laughing. Rin walked up to him and waited for an answer.
S: "Legend 79, Yuni, The Lazy Fairy, location unknown..."
Rin was shocked. She could guess what this meant.
S: "A Legend has been this close the entire time..."
Yuin had changed her name and had hidden her power for a long time now, through the memories sent to Sora he found out that she decided to lay low and start a small village of her own in secret, no one had questioned why Yuin was so powerful, but to think that she had been hiding most of her power this entire time, and that she was a Legend, even if she wasn't in the top 20 the position of a Legend was not one to be taken lightly.
S: "So Master's real name is Yuni... or... is it her fake name and her real name's Yuin?"
Sora was in an extremely excitable state right now, he had been following the Legends since childhood, to think one was this close.
S: "But then, why keep it hidden?"
Sora kept asking himself questions, constantly trying to figure out more about 'Yuni' - he did this until he fell asleep once again.

[In A Dark Space]
Sora woke up to find himself here.
S: "Back here again?"
He couldn't see outside like last time so he knew he wasn't in danger.
L: "Finally, you're back."
Sora turned around to see Leah, the same woman from before.
S: "What happened?"
L: "Well, you woke up, left, fell asleep, then came back."
S: "Yeah I know that, I mean what happened with the Master?"
L: "Master?"
S: "Yuni."
L: "Oh, her, yeah, she's a fun one alright - forcefully finding out for herself whether or not the power you hold is true or not. She's extremely worried for your future right now, she's a good master."
S: "Worried? About me?"
L: "Why wouldn't she be. Even if she didn't like you, the iminent threat of that Demon coming to kill you means that someone she knows will be directly related to a calamity on an extremely high level, her village may be involved in it."
S: "Well... I guess so..."
L: "Adding the fact she actually cares about you..."
S: "Yeah..."
There was a short silence.
L: "You need to get stronger. Fast."
S: "I know, but... I don't know how... "
L: "I do."
S: "How?"
L: "Take the offer"
S: "What offer?"
L: "Oh come on, she told us about it."
S: "Oh, the school..."
L: "Yep, what's keeping you here anyway?"
S: "Well, friends... and fam-"
L: "Doesn't matter."
Sora was taken aback.
S: "Huh?!"
L: "They'll all die if you don't stop that Demon anyway"
S: "Well... I've been meaning to ask something"
L: "What?"
S: "Why can't the Legends fight him off?"
L: "Pretty simple to be honest, some of them don't care enough, they'll just move to a different realm, whilst the one's who do aren't strong enough - that Demon is stronger than any Legend, the only one to rival him is his direct counterpart, that Celestial King."
S: "What?! None of the Legends?!"
L: "Nope, the full power of 'Peace and Calamity' far exceeds the current power of any of the Legends, all you have to do is reach it."
S: "This is all..."
L: "Too much? You've said this before, and you still accepted, just accept this now"
S: "I accepted it cause you guys put this power on me!"
L: "Yeah... but you still accepted it..."
Sora sighed, there was no arguing with this woman.
L: "Listen, that Azu guy, he was the one before you, he took on the duty with a smile on his face, he was just as scared as you are but he still did it. You're special, as soon as you inherited the power we were able to communicate with eachother, the stories of our lives... we all know the details from eachother now. And his story was the most terrifying out of all of us. He died the youngest too..."
Sora stayed silent.
L: "Trick the fear inside you - you're usually happy all the time anyway right? Just do that more than usual."
S: "That's different!"
L: "In what way?"
Sora's body slumped down. He couldn't win.
S: "Ugh... fine... smile on my face..."
Leah pointed at him and laughed.
L: "Now you're getting it!"
Sora stayed silent, this woman was abnormal, everything she seemed inhuman.
L: "Oh! I forgot what I came here for"
S: "Huh?"
L: "Well I didn't come here just for a motivational speech, come to think of it... it wasn't even a motivational speech, I just told you about someone else telling me a story..."
Leah began muttering to herself, after realising she had been muttering for a while she snapped out of it.
L: "Well, the real reason I came here is to give you something. Consider it a gift from all of us."
Leah walked towards Sora and put a finger on his forehead, a bright light appeared at the tip of her finger before quickly dissipating. Sora didn't feel any different though and didn't know what he was just given.
L: "There you go. That's it, you can go now."
S: "Huh? But I don't feel any different."
L: "I never said you would."
S: "Huh?"
L: "Go on now, you have something important to do now right?"
Sora remembered.
S: "Oh no! I forgot! What time is it?!"
L: "I don't know. Don't really check."
S: "How do I wake up?!"
L: "What do you mean?"
S: "Well- You guy's never really-"

Sora's body shot up from his bed.
S: "-Told me how to get out!!! Huh?"
Sora looked down to see Rin, who was looking back at him in confusion, this had been a weird night for Rin, this just added more to the confusion.
Sora looked outside and the Sun was barely coming up, he instantly felt relieved as he sat down on the chair on his desk, seeing that the book he opened still on the same page, he smiled and closed the book, putting it back in his drawer. After a short silence he stood up and stretched his body out.
S: "Well, the big fight's today Rin, are you ready?!"
Rin jumped up onto Sora's shoulder and rubbed up against his cheek.
S: "Hehe, looks like you are, let's get there early, might as well go for an early run!"
Sora left his house early to do some laps around the village to warm up for the fight, he had too much dumped on him at once, he wasn't doing this to trick the fear inside him like Azu just yet, he couldn't do that just yet, he was doing this more as a distraction, and it was working, his excitement for the fight eventually drowned out the responsibilities.
S: "We're winning this fight Rin! Let's show em just how strong we are together!"
Rin let out a comfortable purr.
Sora ran around the village once more, with a smile on his face.

A Raging war between the Celestials and the Demons had spiked an extreme amount of destruction in all of the planes, a team of semi-powerful individuals fought alongside the Celestials with their leader sacrificing his life in order to deal a massive blow to the leader of the Demons. His reincarnation being born into the world centuries later, with the Demonic King on the road to recovery a boy by the name of Sora has to take up the mantle and win the fight that his predecessor had failed to finish.

Zhao Yun entered the guild and immediately saw Coach waving his hands. Coach has already finished selling the materials. The materials were sold for a piece of gold.
*Ding* You have received a new title, would you like to equip it? yes or no?
"No, I`ll check it later," Zhao Yun thought. He then looked at Coach who was so happy to hold a gold coin.
"Hehe, this is the first time I`ve got to hold a gold coin, Zhao Yun. I`m very happy right now," Coach was treating the gold coin as if a baby
"Don`t worry Coach, I`ll be able to earn more, just you wait," Zhao Yun promised.
"We should go to the market and buy what Elder Ma was requesting," Coach said
The two went to the market and bought all the materials requested by Elder Ma, all the materials were placed on the cart since Coach stopped Zhao Yun from using his storage space. Surprisingly, the gold coin was not spent at all. They where all set to depart back home when Zhao Yun noticed a very shabby looking shop with no nameplate on it. There was some kind of mysterious force that was attracting him to enter inside the shabby looking shop. And so Zhao Yun did enter the shop, he informed Coach to wait for him.
The first thing that Zhao Yun`s eyes laid upon was the female store clerk, who was a MILF. Zhao Yun`s eyes glistened, meaning, he successfully analyzed the MILF. Plump as a melon.
"Welcome to our humble store sir," The woman said, in a soothing voice.
"Hello, What does your store offer? There seems to bo nothing stocked at the shelves right now," Zhao Yun inquired, he noticed earlier that the shop was literally empty so he knows that this shop might go bankrupt. His plan is to buy anything that this store clerk offers in order for him to make a good impression on this MILF and try to at least provide some help to her. "Sir?" The woman was taken aback by his sudden question

"Ahh right, it`s 1 silver per piece of paper," she said.
"I'd like ten pieces please," Zhao Yun ordered as he placed the gold coin on the desk.
"Excuse me? are you serious right now sir?" the clerk couldn`t believe what she was seeing.
"Uhuh, so please give me the papers," Zhao Yun smiled
The woman was so delighted. She went to the door behind her and entered it, afterward she came back with exactly ten pieces of paper along with a little boy.
"Here is your order, thank you for your purchase, kind sir," she and the little boy was in sync.
"Oh, is this your son?" Zhao Yun assumed
"Ah yes, he is," the woman replied.
"Hello sir! are you a cultivator?" the boy asked Zhao Yun
"Little Jin, it`s rude to ask personal questions to customer, quickly say sorry," the mother admonished the child
"Haha, it`s okay," Zhao Yun didn`t want the child to get scolded. "I`m not a cultivator kid. I`m a swordsman," Zhao Yun then answered the boy.
"Then are you strong?" the boy added another question
"Hmmm, I don`t really know. How strong are you referring to? I can kill a couple of monsters easily, if that`s strong to you," Zhao Yun replied
"Can you beat a grown-up man?" the boy wasn`t done with the questions
"Jin`er!" this time the mother was getting angry.
"Hmmm, why do you ask boy?" Zhao Yun felt there was something to the kid's questions
"Jin`er! that`s enough questioning, go back inside, now!" she sent the boy inside before he could answer Zhao Yun.
"Sir, thank you for buying. Our shop will be closing now so please come back tomorrow if you want to buy more," She said as if she wanted Zhao Yun to leave. 
This made Zhao Yun grasp that there was more to the boy`s question than just a mere child curiosity but he couldn`t say anything else since she decided to close the store. Coach was also waiting for him outside so he left without inquiring any further. Before he exits the store, he looked around making sure that no one was looking, and place the papers inside the storage space.

The cart was just in front of the store so Coach quickly saw Zhao Yun leaving.
"So, what did you buy inside?" Coach asked
"Paper," Zhao Yun replied
"Paper!!? Are you serious?" Coach was surprised by what Zhao Yun said.
"Yes, why are you surprised?" Zhao Yun was now the one asking
"Well, it`s just, Papers are high commodities so they`re expensive, they`re not rare yet they`re expensive as hell. Unless you`re a scholar or a talisman maker, it`s basically not worth it to buy a paper," Coach explained
"So that`s why this shop went bankrupt. Selling papers in a border town like this, surely no one would buy a paper even if they can afford one," Zhao Yun thought. , "Wait, talisman!? I do know how to make one," Zhao Yun realized
"Thanks for reminding me Coach," Zhao Yun said
"What?why? what for?" Coach was confused about why Zhao Yun thanked him. Coach whipped the horse and the cart started moving.

Let`s move back the time just before Zhao Yun entered the shop.
In a very hidden place near Zhao Yun and Coach, a silhouette was stalking them closely.
"Hmm, They stopped. Did they sense me? no. Is he looking at me? no, it`s the shop beside me that he`s looking at. He went inside, what does he want from this shabby looking shop? Hmmm, there`s a hole here, how convenient. What`s he doing right now? Did he buy papers worth 1 gold coin? what is he planning to do with that? Is he secretly a scholar? or a talisman maker? If its the latter, then he`s a big shot, even a scholar would be too much for this mere border town. Maybe I`m just assuming things, how could a talisman maker or a scholar appear here in this border town. And since he`s using a sword, he`s definitely a fighter, not a scholar. I just don`t know what stage is he right now, I should assume he would at least be at the 7th stage of Body refinement. Wait, what? the paper vanished! I was right, he has spatial storage. That`s definitely some kind of spatial storage, but he doesn`t wear any ring at all so it`s not a storage ring, maybe it`s a necklace. Now, where the hell did this guy come from? He definitely is not from this town if he has a treasure like that. Ah, I`m getting sidetracked, the problem here is how can I take that spatial storage from him when he never showed any kind of opening. I didn`t even know what happened inside the abandoned house he went inside to, he existed that place with another person. Was that one of his subordinates? I couldn`t even sensed that person inside the house, that might be another person to be wary of. He`s leaving the store. The one he`s talking to seems normal, so I shouldn`t bother him. How should I proceed with this? Should I do what Eric was planning to do and recruit this man? It`s not yet late for that option," This was what went on the mind of the stalker.

"They`re leaving already, I should follow them," The silhouette vanished in the darkness.

The wolf turns around and shoots me a backward glance, before disappearing towards the back of the hospital building. 
I think it´s asking me to follow it. 
Without giving it a further thought, I break into a run to follow the wolf. 
When I reach the back of the building, there´s nothing there. I walk toward the abandoned loading dock, my eyes searching. "Hello?" I halt in my tracks as the wolf emerges from the shadows, stepping into the light of a street lamp. 
I observe the white crescent moon mark on his forehead, stark against the grey of its fur. It bounds slowly towards me. I am frozen in place. I can´t move. I can´t breathe. I tremble in fear as the wolf stops right in front of me. Its face is so close to mine that I can smell the stench of its foul breath that comes out in mists against the cold of the night. I close my eyes, my heart pounding wildly against my chest.  
Suddenly, I feel this unforgiving pain on my left shoulder and I scream in pain. The wolf has bitten me!

Forgetting about Satou for the moment, I took inventory before walking to the cell door. It seemed I was wearing an old tunic, with an old rope tied as a makeshift belt. It was certainly a far cry away from the badass demonic robes I was used to. Slipping the hilt into my 'belt', I pushed the cell door to see if it would open. Surprisingly enough, The cell door not only opened, it fell off its hinges to the floor with a loud *clang*. Stepping outside of my cell, I celebrated my newfound freedom.
To my right there was a long hallway, seemingly filled with identical cells to mine. To my left was a staircase leading upwards. Briefly considering my options, I decided to head up the stairs, whatever was in the cells probably wasn't worth the time to take to loot them. 
S: Hey, you might get an achievement for looking!
A what?
S: Nothing.
While you're here, mind explaining what this place is? Where am I?
S: I'm not here for exposition, figure it out. 
You could at least be useful for something.
S: I'll have you know you should be honored to be in my presence, I am a very busy man.
Okay, what do you do all day?
S: Run over japanese teenagers with a truck and send them to other worlds.

As my pointless conversation with Satou (S: Hey!) continued, I finally arrived at the top of the stairs. In front of me there was a large set of double doors, which would hopefully take me outside. To my right there was a large ornate greatsword stabbed into the ground, slightly taller than I was. Feeling my palm tingling, I reached up and grabbed the sword's hilt, and attempted to pull it out.
Suddenly, the mark on my palm burst into a blue flame, enveloping my hand and igniting the greatsword. Surprised, I stumbled back and fell. As I watched, three strange runes appeared on the surface of the blade, emanating light. The fire eventually traveled down and formed a ring of flames around the sword, showing no signs of disappearing. I didn't want to risk touching it again.
S: {Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker.} Pretty cool huh?
Loathe as I am to admit it, that was pretty cool. What was that? 
S: Do you honestly think I'm gonna answer that?

I walked away from the sword towards the double doors, I took a small breath before pushing them open. Surprisingly, it was fairly easy. Hand on my sword hilt, I walked through the doors, ready for what was next to come.

Weve been here for months now, and when Viktor comes down the beach to find us, its the first time his expression makes me uneasy inside. With him it could be absolutely anything. My first thoughts go directly to Sabrina and Tate; theyre my two priorities and the people I care about the most.
I had just finished swimming and gotten out of the lake, so I dry myself off quickly while he heads to Elaina. I call out in greeting, Viktor!
He nods, kissing Elaina as they gather up the wedding books and extra towel.
Niko, I need to speak to you after youve gotten changed.
You got it, I reply and he shoots me a look over Elaina and Sabrinas heads, that has my interest piqued. Clearly somethings up, and if it were Tate I wouldnt even wait to change my clothes. Viktors much more formal, however, and likes to schedule meetings for practically everything.
I head back to the loft alone, get showered and changed, then meet everyone back up at Viktors cabin.
The girls decide to prepare lunch, so while Binas pre-occupied with Elaina, I follow Viktor and Alexei into the living area.
We all sit on his comfortable couches and the anticipation builds. I know if it had anything to do with Tate I would have gotten a phone call immediately, so this tells me that whatever Viktor has to say, its probably about Sabrinas family.
He sits forward, fiddling with one of his cufflinks. Hes a very commanding man, always sure of himself and has extremely high expectations of his men. I hold a great deal of respect for him, taking control of the Bratva and getting out of the sex trade that his uncle was into knee-deep.
When he stares at his cuff link for a few more beats, I get restless and clear my throat. His gaze meets mine and instead of the friendliness Im used to, I see pity.
You wanted to speak, Viktor?
Alexei sits back, running his hands over his face as Viktor takes a deep breath and nods. He glances towards the kitchen, but Sabrina and Elaina cant hear us.
Yes. Christ, this is hard. I found out some information that you need to hear. There are rumors floating around that someone is looking for Sabrina.

Right, look brat, he glances away and my hackles rise when he calls me brother. He has never called me that before. We arent that close; Im only close to his real brother. This person is supposed to be her husband. He finishes quietly and I swallow down the sudden rush of feelings making me want to vomit.
Nyet, Viktor. I know Bina, I would know if she had gotten married, if she has this husband. I have known her nearly as long as Tatkiv, I grumble, using Tates full name, the seriousness of the situation coming out to play.
Look, Niko, Im just passing on the information I was given. I hope youre right about her. Because if shes really someone elses wife, then we cant keep her from him. You know how this works; her father wouldnt be allowed to trade her, only her husband.
There is no husband! I end on a growl, my anger flaring inside.
Viktor nods quietly and Alexei doesnt meet my gaze. I dont care, theres no way what they say is true. I know Sabrina; weve lived together for months now. I would know if there was a fucking husband.
Were interrupted by Elainas smiling face, Hey guys, lunch is done, come eat. The smile falls as she takes stock in our expressions. Vik? Everything okay?
Yes, Printyessa, relax. Lets eat my love. He stands, going to her and taking her hand. She leads him away as Alexei stands.
I mean it Lexi, there is no husband.
He shrugs, his eyes shining with empathy. None of my business.
I stay silent, huffing out a sigh and head into the kitchen myself with him trailing.
Ill figure this nonsense out. Ill have to confront Sabrina myself. I hate to get her upset with this news, but she deserves to know whats being said. Fucking wannabe Russian Bosses, cant keep their damn mouths closed when something doesnt go their way. I may be Russian and proud, but thats one thing I dont do. I restrain myself from killing everyone that pisses me off or try to ruin their happiness.
Sabrinas tender gaze meets mine as we all sit and eat a nice lunch. She watches me closely as I eat slowly, her expression curious. Food doesnt last around me; I scarf it down as soon as the plate hits the table like any good soldier is taught to do early on.
Not now.
I cant stop the thoughts crawling over my skin, attacking my mind with questions from every direction. Who would say this about her? I cant imagine her father having the guts to make such accusations if they were false. He knows I would kill him for that sort of thing; hes been privy to my feelings for Sabrina for years now.
I need to keep my faith in her; weve known each other too long for me to doubt that she would leave out something thats so vital to our arrangement. Ill ask her about it all later, acting like its an absurd joke, to see what she thinks of this. I cannot afford the consequences of offending Bina, my affections run too deeply for her and I couldnt stand to have her upset. Not only am I in love with her, but shes a close friend to me and Ill hurt whoever is tainting her name.
With that decision, I reach over, giving Sabrinas dainty hand a light reassuring squeeze. The touch warms me and I finish my food, my appetite rejuvenated with the sweet promise of whats to come.

Shes been upstairs most of the day on her laptop ordering things she and Elaina picked out for the wedding. Everythings in Elainas name, of course, so theres no trail of Bina left anywhere.
She descends, paying attention to the steps in front of her, Da, Blondie? Her mouth turns up at her nickname for me.
As she gets closer, the pitter patter in my chest makes me grit my teeth. Shes so goddamn stunning, I want to pull her to me, demanding she tell me the truth, and then make tender love to her after she laughs about how silly these rumors are.
Lets sit.
We take a seat and I grab her hand, entwining our fingers, flashing a smile so she doesnt think Im too upset about any of this. In reality, its driving me absolutely crazy, clawing at me inside that shes going to tell me that its actually true.

Sabrina nods and swallows nervously, giving me her complete attention.
I was informed that someone is going around saying that youre married. I told them that it was nonsense.
Her gaze hits the floor and she scoots back more into the corner of the couch, dropping my hand. She may as well have just hit me with a ton of bricks, as it would probably have felt the same. I dont know whats going through her mind, but I wasnt expecting silence to be her response. Shes always been fairly outspoken with me, quick to tell me her thoughts on things.
I apologize, I know its dumb of me to even mention it, but I promise I will find out who would say such false things about you.
Her head lifts as a tear escapes, leaving a sad trail down her cheek. Instantly my fists clench and my body grows taut as my mind explodes with the new possibilities floating around. It cant be fucking true. I cant have already lost her when I dont even have her yet. What am I going to do? I dont want to give her back; I dont want her to be married.
My heart will be broken forever. Ive denied my affections for her for so long, but inside I know my feelings for her. If she has devoted herself to another man, I dont know if I will ever be able to move past her. I dont know if I can possibly forgive her for this and thats one of the most painful things. I dont want to hate her...I love her too much.
Choking down the urge to blow up and break every piece of furniture in sight, and then this husbands face afterward, I breathe deeply, and turn to her. Please speak to me...You-you need to be honest. I will not hurt you, Bina, ever.
I know that, Nikoli. Her lip trembles slightly. After a moment she runs her hands over her face and groans.
Bina? I try to speak further, but my chest aches and it comes out more like a gasp. It feels as if someone has reached in, gripping my heart in a death grip and is holding it, waiting for the words to spill from her rosy lips, so it can squeeze and finish off the job. My hand shoots to my heart, as I take another deep breath. I gaze over the floor, noticing each little spec of dirt that was missed when she quickly vacuumed over it yesterday.
I cant believe this. How could she do this? Fuck it hurts. This is all my fault. I left her alone with those people. They were supposed to be her family, and I was always nearby if she ever needed me. I cant believe Sabrina never told me; she could have called. I would have come for her.
Did they keep her from contacting me? Was this forced on her? Shes not with him now; perhaps she was unhappy. But I cant keep her if she belongs to another man. How did we not hear of this? It must have been forced...It had to be. I know her father would have made a huge spectacle if she was marrying someone with influence; so this was one of his fucking dirty, scheming deeds.
I never should have let this happen.

Blinking the red haze away, I eventually turn to her; she scoots close to me, her shoulder touching my arm, as she adjusts so her thigh presses against mine. My body flares with awareness; its like she calls to it and even heartbroken it awaits for her next order.

My fists unclench as I register her amazing words. My gaze trailing over each tan freckle on her face as I inspect for any possibility that she could be lying to me. She hasnt in the past that I know of, but growing up dealing with shady people has made me wary of everyone.

My eyebrow raises, intrigued and impatient for this story. What is there to explain if youre not really married?
Well, my father had arranged a marriage for me. I understand in our ways its normal to be married off, but I know inside that shes always been mine.
Hes fish bait, I growl and Sabrinas eyes widen. Her hand instantly clutches onto mine and I find myself breathing deeply for an entirely different reason.

She draws in a breath, her mouth closing quickly as her gaze shoots to my mouth. Licking my lips, I edge a few inches closer. I wont let them touch you. I promise as my own eyes seek out her lips.
I want a little taste. Just one will hold me over. I need reassured that she really can be mine someday.
Her other hand finds my cheek and just when I think shes going to lean in the few inches to meet my lips, she stands.
Oh I know, Blondie, and thats just one of the reasons why Im so thankful to have your friendship. Now, I need to start on dinner, she finishes with a soft smile. Her hand releases mine and the other falls from my cheek as she makes her way into the kitchen.
Jumping up, I follow her, resting my hand on the small of her back once Im close enough. Shes so short that every time Im in her space like this I feel as if Im an ogre, dwarfing her elf-like stature.

Not if I kill them first, I finish in a huff, and she shakes her head, exasperated. She knows I wont stop until I get what I want. Its part of the reason why Im so good at my job.
She rushes to the refrigerator removing ingredients for what looks like a chicken casserole. Sabrinas taken the liberties of making grocery lists with my favorite foods on them. I dont know if she realizes Ive picked up on it over the past few months. Shes always doing sweet little things like that for me though.
After a few moments of her cooking and silently stewing, she finally stops, facing me again. His name is Kolya from the Minski family.
The Minskis? Are you certain? What the hell would your father want with their family? What was he gaining?
I know exactly who shes talking about. They had attempted to hire me many years back, but Tate warned them that Im not out for hired contracts. I only work for Tate. I would help Viktor if he needed it also, only because hes Tates brother; otherwise, I dont risk an individual commissioned hit.
The Minskis have money, but as far as I know they arent involved in the sex trade. In Russia you dont usually marry off your daughters unless it benefits you somehow. Maybe Binas father is getting low on cash?
Yes, I met him. I had to have dinner with his family. Well, my family and his family had dinner together anyway.

Not publicly. We only went for a walk after the dinner through their garden. My father insisted that Kolya get some time alone with me to make sure he would want me. I mostly just listened to him talk about himself, and then when we returned, he shook hands with my father and told him that they had a deal.
Its sickening he has no thought for your well-being. They tried to hire me a few years ago to kill off his first wife. I am loyal to the Mafiya and refused. They must have found someone if you were going to be the new replacement. Sick bastards. They would have ended up killing Sabrina when Kolya got tired of her as well.
Her eyes widen and she holds her stomach as if it hurts, They-they killed her off? she stutters and I nod. She deserves to know the truth. I dont disclose Mafiya business, but this had nothing to do with the Mafiya and Im not going to keep it from her.
Shhh, Bina...relax, I wont let any harm come to you. She takes a deep breath and slides the casserole into the oven. Do you know what your father wanted from their family?
Um, no. I dont really know much, my father never spoke to me about those things, just my sister. He would plan things with Kendall, but I was never close to him like she was. Theres really no telling what he had planned; hes always plotting one thing or another.
Well what do you think it was about?
The only thing I could guess is if maybe they were conspiring against Viktor or for more money. I overheard Kolyas family talking about needing transport for some type of product.
Hmmm. The Minskis money comes from crank. I wonder if Kristof was going to use the Minskis drug running to transport the girls he sells off in the sex business. I could see him trading off his daughter to secure transportation that will leave him scot-free if the other family gets busted by the police. Im not completely certain, but it makes sense to me.
Okay, thank you for telling me about it. Ill talk it over with Viktor, but remember, you have nothing to fear.
I can never repay you for all of your kindness, Blondie, thank you. She pops up on her tippy toes to kiss my cheek. Shes still too short and only makes it to my jaw.
Keep cooking like this and its payment enough. I flash her a large, bright smile trying to give her some comfort and change the subject. She grins and rolls her eyes, turning back to the stove. Ill be down shortly; I need to make a few calls. She nods, staying focused on the green beans shes warming up.
Heading upstairs, I pull my cell out. Tate and Viktor both have to know about this new information and my plans. I need to find out when Sabrina can hang out with Elaina also, because Im going hunting.
