I, Charlotte Ong, have decided to join the school of the arts(SOTA). The school is located in Singapore and as the name suggests, it specialises in the arts. One of the least known art though, is Literary Arts. Many students like myself did not know what we were getting into when we signed up for this school...

also, this is a work of fiction, I do not attend SOTA nor know what life is like at SOTA, I just wasn’t creative enough to think of a name for the school.

The more she thought about it, the angrier she grew. She had to endure the undeserved misfortune so early in the morning. 
"You call yourself a man, yet you didn't even try to send a fragile young woman you injured to the clinic. You still tried to make her walk to the clinic all alone! How can you even consider yourself a human being?"
"What? Did I say that I didn't want to send you to the clinic?"
"So, you're not going to send me to the clinic just because I said so?"

Xu Shuangyu shared her situation with the doctor in the clinic with a chest full of pent up anger.

Xu Shuangyu answered, "Oh." Then, she added, "Ah…" 
Why did she find the doctor's instruction so familiar? It felt as if she heard it someplace else before.

While having his breakfast, he suddenly remembered that he did not seem to have taken his dinner last. However, he found that he did not feel the slightest bit of hunger until now. 
Moreover, he recalled waking up filled with vigor! He was certainly energized and refreshed this morning. It was then that he remembered the sour apple. 
He brought up the individual property panel; then, he shifted his gaze to the half apple in the third box of the first row in the inventory list.
"This is some impressive item," Zhou Wen praised in his heart. "What a waste that it is way too sour."
After breakfast, Zhou Wen headed back to the hostel room to grab his portable charger and earphones. Then, he walked into the library as soon as it opened. 
He had actually wanted to gain experience in the laboratory. After all, it felt like the act of spending downtime in the library was too slow for him. 
What a waste that he could not keep doing what he did without justification. 
Shi Lei and Lin Jiayi were both official employees with salaries. It was fine for him to help them out occasionally, but they could not possibly hand over work to him all the time. 
In addition, the laboratory was genuinely a leisurely environment too. If they kept shoving all their work to him, what would they have left to do then?
So, he went to the third floor of the library and leaned against the side of a book rack before he brought up the panel. Then, he selected 'Mission 3' from the taskbar.

For example, the title 'Molecules and Cells' was used as the teaching material for junior year in public schools. Its literary value was as high as 80. "Why is that so?"
Zhou Wen pondered for a moment and figured that it was possibly due to the fact that basic subjects were the foundation that allowed one to search for the essence of life and played a driving role in the development of biological sciences. As a result, its literary value was higher.

Frankly, it was truly boring and dull beyond imagination to sit in the library alone and read a biochemistry book as compared to carrying out experiments in the laboratory. The majority of the content was on molecular structures and data diagrams, making him feel like dozing off from reading it. 
In addition, a warm breeze was blowing slowly in the library. It was quiet and tranquil. So, in the end, he fell asleep.

By the time Zhou Wen awakened, his stomach was rumbling from hunger. 
He took out his phone and took a glance to see that it was already 11 o'clock. 
He brought up the taskbar panel and took a glance to see that the remaining time was 20:19:47.

After relieving his hunger, Zhou Wen became more perked up than ever.

It was much more lively and exciting as compared to the dull, boring book.

Zhou Wen picked up his clothes and went for a shower. He joined the game when he came back.

"Is this a time to gossip?" Butler Yun snapped at the maids. "Do your work quietly."

The maids lowered their heads and resumed their work.

The host used her middle finger to push her eyeglasses a little higher on the bridge of her nose before speaking again. "Please line up in two lines before we head out," she instructed the finalists.

Ria Zhang stood up, giving Anna Ling a side-glance. "Do you want to go together?" she asked the child. 

"I would love to," Anna Ling responded as she clasped her hands and brought it near her chest.

Ria Zhang nodded before pulling her gently towards the line that started to form. As someone who only reached Ria Zhang's waist, Anna Ling had no chance to refuse being placed in front of Ria Zhang. Each line was consisted of twenty-five people. With steady steps, the groups marched towards the entrance of Feng Royal Forest. It was located at the side of the cultural hall.

When they reached the entrance, the host raised her hand, stopping the two groups. The entrance has an arc. The gate was only made of steel, as if to maintain its simplicity.

"The forest is guarded with surveillance cameras to safeguard the safety of the finalists. However, if anyone wants to back out, you can say so now," she announced.

Ria Zhang crossed her arms over her chest. She had a feeling this was not a simple literary finals. She waited, her gaze peered through her eyelashes.

After a while, no one raised his or her hand. "Then I conclude that everyone want to proceed." She pushed the gate opened. Before she went inside, she told them, "Please follow me."

The two groups followed the host quietly. When all of them were already inside, the gate closed automatically.

The first they saw was a long table filled with electronic tablets. On both sides of the table were two covered baskets.

"Welcome to the Feng Royal Forest. As this is the finals of Literary Olympiad, you should be able to produce a literary piece worthy to be called as the winner of this competition," the host started. 

"You will be using the tablets provided by the Yun Industries. Whatever you key in the tablet will be automatically transmitted to the database so no data will be lost in case of unfortunate circumstances," she added.

"Unfortunate circumstances? Like what?" A man from the crowd could not resist raising the issue.

Others nodded when they heard the question. They also have the same concern.

The host smiled tightly. "As you can see, this forest, despite being owned by the Feng Family, is still a natural forest. There are small rivers inside so who knows if you accidentally fall?"

She took a deep breath and gestured towards the table. "These tables are labeled by your number based on your application. You can get it now. As for those baskets," she paused before looking around.

To avoid biases, all the applications and pieces submitted were labeled only with numbers.

"Those are the signal firecrackers. If ever you felt you are in danger, pull out the red string downward while raising it towards the sky. The help will go to you," she explained unhurriedly.

"However, let me remind you that once you do it,  you already lost the competition," she warned them.

Waves of murmur erupted in the crowd. 

'How could this be?'

'I signed up for a literary contest, not a variety show!'

'Damn, I should have back out earlier.'

Ria Zhang's gaze remained indifferent as she stared at the table. Although it was far from what she was expecting, this would also train her survival skills. 

She glanced down to Anna Ling. "Can you do it?"

The child smiled while nodding vigorously. "Yes. My family used to camp at the mountains and it looks the same. I mean, the surroundings," she told her.

Ria Zhang pressed her lips. She was sure that the management will intervene in case something bad happened.

"Since this is a competition, no one is allowed to go in groups. You are going to enter the forest per batch of five people," the host informed them before calling random numbers.

Ria Zhang was the ultimate spinster. 

Her heart stopped beating at 60.

When she opened her eyes again, she was already inside the body of a 28-year old woman. Not just any woman but a vicious one.

In this five day interview I did not only discover the true man behind the curtains, but I understood his very persona. We often allow ourselves to be blinded by another person's success without giving it a second's thought, to such an extent that we forget to ask or contemplate the hardships they might have gone through in order to be where they are right now. Such is the case with Mr. Linsky. He is a man who is deeply underestimated, underappreciated, and confused with being someone that he is simply not. 
Of course, now I should be saying was underestimated, was underappreciated, and was confused with being someone that he is simply not. His death devastated the literary circle, its members, and his ardent readers. But most of all, it devastated her daughter. 
It is a social decorum to judge a man by his wealth and by his success. 
It was this very decorum that Mr. Linsky opposed. It was this very decorum that he wrote against. His books are brimming with persecutory acts committed upon the common man because society deems them to be inferior and themselves superior. 
What will follow are insights into the mind of one of the greatest man I have ever had the opportunity to know. He wasn't just a writer, he was a farther, a mentor…and a friend. His contributions to writing will never be forgotten, but more so, he as a distinct person will never be forgotten. 
This book is dedicated to him and to everything that I learned from him. It is written in the hope that it may shed some light on the true persona of Thomas Alexander Linsky and allow the world to see him the way I saw him, to listen to him the way I listened to him, and to understand him the way I understood him.
