Help came from the most unlikely of sources. I was taking a literature subject in my 1st year in which we were studying the elements of story: setting, conflict, climax, and resolution.


     The odd thought occurred to me while I was studying that we didn't know where the elements of story come from. I mean, we might have a guy's name who thought of them, but we don't know why they exist. I started wondering why the heart and mind responded to this specific formula when it came to telling stories. So I broke it down. Setting: That was easy; every story has a setting. My setting is Philippines, on earth. I understand setting because I experience setting. I am sitting in a room, in a house, I have other characters living in this house with me, that sort of thing. The reason my heart understood setting was because I experienced setting. 



     But then there was conflict. Every good story has conflict in it. Some conflict is internal, some is external, but if you want to write a novel that sells, I guess you need to have a conflict. We understand conflict because we experience conflict, but where does conflict come from? Why do we experience conflict in our lives? This helped me a great deal in accepting the idea of a sin and the birth of conflict. The rebellion as an adult explained why humans experienced conflict in their lives, and nobody knows of any explanation other than this. Conflict is a thing that we don't want to experience, yet we were forced to experience it. Maybe faith wants us to experience it so we did. In a story conflict starts how the plot go well, but in reality this is somehow we wanted to avoid with.



     The heart responds to conflict within story, I began to think, because there is some great conflict in the universe with which we are interacting, even if it is only in the subconscious. If we were not experiencing some sort of conflict in our  lives, our hearts would have no response to conflicts in books or film. The idea of conflict, of having tension, suspense, or an enemy, would make no sense to us. But these things do make sense. We understand these elements because we experience them, As much as I did not want to admit it, our own encounter and experience explained why.




     And then the element of story known as climax. Every good story has a climax, but to me this was the starting point of scarifying part. If human heart uses the tools of reality to create elements of story, and the human heart responds to climax in the structure of story, this means that climax, or point of decision, could very well be something that exists in the universe. What I mean is that there is a decision the human heart needs to make and this also connects the the thread of conflict.




     Lastly the resolution. If someone will have to put it, maybe they will prefer the better resolution, or maybe the opposite one, but in our journey, as human, we can't able to know our resolution nut others can and that's the worst part. I know some of you can already understand this well, as silly as it sounds but we will have our own resolution, as if it was like a children's story. It wasn't cute or neat. It was mystical and odd and clean, and it was reaching into dirty. There was wonder in it and enchantment.



     "Perhaps, I thought, being adult really was the difference between illusion and magic."



People has started clapping beforehand. I was assigned as the representative of the impromptu story telling in our class. After the presentation I went back to my seat where my group seats. 



"That was "wow" Haru." Ron with the sparkling face.


"I was about to cut my breath while standing in front but I saw your face looking at me while opening your mouth. It made me think I just need to tell them a story where the story is in the story. By the way thanks." Replying him while holding my laugh.


"A story where the story is in the story. Man that was cool!" Shin with also a sparkling face.


"Dude, you should shave your mustache, I can barely see it 3 meters apart." Replying to Shin while holding my laugh because the class was still going.


"Dude, I just gave you a complement and that's what you will pay to me? give me back my words of praise! Wait... you think so? my mustache? man it feels like I've been bad-mouthed by someone" Shin with a disappointing face.


"I am bad mouthing you." Again, holding my laugh to avoid class interruption.

After the whole presentation, in the end we get the second highest score. The girl that was on my group, Claire, who's good at math seems to have an interest in interacting with the three of us, but Ron and Shin hesitated to approach her since she's too quite so I've been pushed to throw some questions by my self.


"What did you think of the lecture?" I once asked here.


"I thought it was okay."


"Just okay?" I asked.


"Yeah, I mean, this is supposed to be a minor subject but it feels like it was a major. I hope they don't put the cookies on a lower shelf all year." 


"Cookies?" I asked. I thought she had cookies.


"Yeah, what do you mean?" She replied.


"No, it's nothing" 


"Hmmm? You thought of something other "cookies" aren't you?" She smirked.


"Man I thought i could escape the situation." I said it while laughing in shame.


"Class is almost done hold it while you still can." She smiled.


"No, I mean, how do I put it, it's not that I'm hung—" I stopped when Claire stared at me.


"W-what?"


"Nope, it's nothing i never thought you were a funny one." She smiled again.


"Huh?"


"Don't worry I get it." She turn around and listen to our professor again.


"If you say you already get it then I guess there's no need for me to explain then." 


     That was only the long talk I had with Claire, I suppose it would. 


    After that, we finally take our leave after doing our assignment in the classroom cleaning. Later on while Ron, Shin and me was about to leave, Claire said something before she goes home.


"Haru."


"Yes?" I was surprised while she called me.


"If you want cookies... I might bring some for you tomorrow." She smiled while walking away.

We know nothing at all when it comes to love and romance, being a fine adult maybe a jumble for us, but I know someday things will reflect in the future.

"What's the matter?" I asked through a mouthful of pasta.

Sante chuckled before shaking his head. He made his own dish, eating slowly just like a regal person. I suddenly felt embarrassed. I've never felt shy in front of Sante before. But something seemed to have shifted between us. I meant just me. Something I'm still afraid to put my finger on to. 

"How's your book going?"

"Good." I nodded enthusiastically, raking more pasta from my plate. 

"Where are you in your story?" 

Sante wiped my mouth of some smeared sauce with his hand before licking it from his fingers. Oh, Jesus! Concentrate, Peyton. 

"I'm on the climax part."

"Climax?" Sante's eyes suddenly became hooded, voice getting low. 

Not that one, pervert! I wanted to yell at him but I held my mouth. How did Sante become a sexual maniac all of a sudden? I was sure I knew him as gay man three days ago. Right now though, I have a feeling that there's something I was missing. I mentally shook my head. Impossible. I'm only putting colors to a dark and white picture. Maybe I'm projecting. I thought that Sante was changing when in reality, I was the one who had changed. Internally, at least. 

"Yeah, climax." I placed my plate on the coffee table. "The one when the story will takes a turn." 

"What happens basically in a climax. What kind of turn?" Sante also put his plate down the table. 

"Depends." I sipped from my beer. "This is where revelation happens or accidents or fighting. Something that'll create thrill to the readers." I replaced my beer on the table. 

"And what do you plan for your climax?" Sante's eyes dropped to my mouth. 

I thought Sante saw smeared sauce again so I licked the surrounding area of my lips so he wouldn't touch me again. Wrong move though. Because he growled. A sound I somehow grew accustomed to when he felt like evolving into a hungry carnivorous animal. 

He lunged at me and swallowed my yelp as his mouth quickly covered mine, tongue going straight to my throat. I pushed it out with my own but our tongues only tangled in a wet swirling dance. My skin tightened and my pussy contracted as if seeking for something to grip on. Easy there, kitten. No time to play right now. I should work. 

I put my hands over Sante's chest but couldn't somehow find the energy to push him away while I kept tongue fucking him back. Sante pushed me down the couch, his hands were quick to move underneath my braless shirt. 

"Wait!" I breathed out, finally pushing Sante away. 

"Why don't we add another sex scene on your book before you go on to the climax part?" Sante almost sounded cajoling. 

"I don't think so. I've written three consecutive chapters for sex scenes. My readers will think I'm a pervert if I added more. Besides, it'll drag the story slow and too much focus on one particular scene will annoy the readers, worse they'll definitely won't finish reading it."

"Why the hell not?"

"Because they obviously read it for the story not because of the sex scene alone. If they do, don't you think it's easier to open the browser and watch porn instead?"

"So what do you think will be the climax of your story?" He frowned before slowly easing off of me and sat on the couch. 

I also sat up. "I'm thinking of some revelation happening, loyalty and honesty being questioned and eventually the couple will fight and break apart."

"No way!" Sante's reaction went overboard with his barking. 

"Huh? Why not? It's my story, I can do however I want it to be."

"No. Just no fighting! Think of something else. That's been written before. Don't be a smorgasbord." 

"Why are you..."

"I said no. And that's final!" His hard face told me to just follow his order so I just nodded my head. 

"O-okay." What the hell was up with him?

Peyton Baker was at the end of her rope. Her boss was pushing her to do more and get better with her craft so as to revive her dying career. But what her boss was asking from her this time was way out of her league. A universe away from her grasp. A very impossible project. A life threatening task. OK, maybe the last one was an exaggeration but in all seriousness, she's afraid she couldn't make it. 

She turned to her friend for both consultation and help but didn't expect to get a freaky and an equally impossible solution. She tried it out though. But as expected, it didn't go well. Until her friend thought of a very good idea, the one she's queasy about. Though she found it appealing and tempting yet so very suspicious, too. Her friend believed it'd be a success. Peyton's boss would again commend her for another job well done. There's just one problem though. Her heart would be at stake. Would she do it? Would a broken heart be worth her career?

"You, you, you, you and YOU!" Frozen Milk pointed at each of the characters and lastly at the monster.
It was coming, the load that Frozen Milk had to hold in for too long, would it actually disappoint or top all expectations? It was Frozen Milk, of course, it would disappoint!
"I just fucking woke up! Almost sacrificed my life here and you bloody morons just dare to put me in a twisted spot like this? Do you even really care for me or do you just care for your own pleasure? Do I look like a toy for you to grab by the limps and rip apart? Do I? Come here and look at me!"
Frozen Milk grabbed Holbe's face and stared at her. Holbe turned red. Screw you!
"No! Right? So, why do you keep exhausting me like this? Just give me a break, ok? Give me a break!" Frozen Milk went to Glimpse Water and dragged him to Holbe.
Glimpse Water was happy at the touch. Screw you too!
"Did you guys even worry about me at all??? This monster, you could easily deal with yourself! Yet you play around and want to become the damsel in distress for me the weakest fucking person to save you all? Is that normal, is it?"
Frozen Milk dragged Prota to the other two. Prota rubbed himself against Frozen Milk's legs. Screw you thrice!
"You could easily kill this monster! What if the monster didn't decide to go along with you guys for whatever reason? What if? Imagine, just imagine! Would I still be here? I would have been ripped to shreds, wouldn't I?"
Lastly, Frozen Milk dragged Vil to the troublemakers. Vil was exhilarated. Screw you a hundred times!
"Would there still be a Frozen Milk for you to call and play around with me? You young lot, don't play with this old man here like this! My heart can't take it, I have lived two lives now, almost, so I'm not young anymore to deal with your childish behaviour!"
"And you!" Frozen Milk went to the monster and kicked it. The monster wailed in pain. The system, for its own amusement, gave Frozen Milk briefly a power-up without him knowing.
Frozen Milk was in his element and felt way too superior, confident and angry to think about how he was currently dragging the monster he was afraid of by the ears to his characters and started scolding them all.
"You hybrid! Where the hell did you come from? I don't remember ever creating you! Aren't you at the wrong spot? In the wrong story? In the wrong world? What the hell are you doing here? Go play fetch and return to your old world! I swear if I was strong enough, I would throw the stick so far into the universe it would become another star!"
"Host, this monster was kept by the old king and just recently managed to escape. It was an experiment and the only one of its kind."
"YOU!" Frozen Milk pinched Vil's cheeks and Vil moaned, "Stop getting off here, I'm sincerely angry at you and your old man! I am the old man of your old man, so how dare he piss me off so much and do things without my permission huh? Keeping and experimenting to make a monster, who the fuck gave him permission to do that? WHO?"
"Was it you? Was it another one of your damn ideas you blindly wrote without my knowledge again?" Frozen Milk pinched Glimpse Water's nose.
"I! I! I!" Frozen Milk had to breathe again, he used up too much oxygen before he started to scold them again.
"We're really sorry, Frozen Milk! We were really worried about you. I admit it was childish of us," Prota hung his head low and was sad.
Frozen Milk didn't give in and slapped the soft spot away in his body.
"Yes, it was not our intention..." Holbe also reflected.
Glimpse Water and Vil just nodded because they were too happy Frozen Milk showed them more affection.
This really turned into a twisted and perverted story. Frozen Milk wished his character would return to being normal.
The monster wailed and wagged its tail towards Frozen Milk and said through his barks, I now recognise you as my master and creator, not enemy! I was wrong, please forgive me!
Frozen Milk just looked at it with dead eyes, he had no idea what that monster wanted from him.
The monster immediately wailed again and was aggrieved its creator was so mean to it.
"Whatever," Frozen Milk waved the monster away, "You go and have your fun, just don't harm any humans."
The monster sprang to its feet and barked enthusiastically. Roger that, Master! 
With that, the monster left.
"You are not a dog, so why are you barking! Character setting! I swear there's something wrong with all of your character settings!"
"Frozen Milk," Prota cautiously hugged Frozen Milk.
Frozen Milk just let him be and closed his eyes. He was tired and exhausted. He truly used up too much of his strength but then-
Frozen Milk felt like there was something wrong. Why was the monster given more screen time than the actual climax of the story, the bad antagonist the presence was?
Wasn't this too weird?
"Host, maybe the real climax is something else?"
"What could it be?"
"The story changed since host has transmigrated and it is true that the presence resurfaced thanks to you but since you are now the main character, is it not more logical to say that the real climax is who gets to be with host?"
Frozen Milk wasn't able to process. What the fuck did he just hear? The real climax was the battle for his love? So, his character would battle it out to see who would be worthy of him? Was that it? Was his amazing, great (subpar) story changed into a chick flick?
No, you can change the plot but don't change the damn genre! 
Frozen Milk couldn't accept this he just couldn't! He looked at all his characters that circled him and wanted to faint over and over again until he would never ever wake up again.
So his precious and life-threatening climax just changed like this! What the hell did he almost die for? Was that just for fun? Entertainment again?
Frozen Milk had to breathe, his thought occupied too much of his mind he even forgot how to properly function anymore.

First book in the 'Scum Series'

Two days passed by fast with Eric just lazing in his bed and watching TV. No one, except for Mak bringing him food, bothered him. His students most probably, hopefully, started to work on their stories and Del was busy as the Demon Lord.
So, Eric had all the time by himself to sort things out again. He gave up on escaping knowing that only death would await him.
"What a pain," Eric sighed as he got out of bed and prepared to go to the second lesson with these demon breeds. Eric, to be honest, really didn't want to see them again, especially not after that, cough Eric still refused to face reality, nightmare.
But Eric had no choices. His choices were as slim and ungrabbable as that one single butt hair that can't be grasped or eliminated no matter what. In other words, Eric's chances were so slippery that their existence couldn't be removed. Basically fucking useless!
What's the use of a fucking chance when, no matter what, it couldn't be taken?
So, that butt hair would forever grace the hole and tickle it. Unnecessary existence yet can't be erased! That's how Eric felt about everything! Nevertheless, Eric still made his way to the ground floor while he with much suave, walked around, his heart anxiously wanted him to look around and see if there wasn't Del and his sons co. Co. referring to the other noble demons.
Co. Completely originated from the same ass the others came from or more like completely unoriginal. Eric was glad he didn't come across any of them but that didn't mean he wouldn't get to see them because... because they were all obediently assembled right in the classroom! What fuckery was this?
A classroom obviously!
"Morning everyone," Eric smiled happily as if he really loved, loved, being a teacher and teaching his wonderful students.
Eric looked at the pissed dipshit, the smug witch, the brazen fiery, the annoyed prickly and sighed. He wanted to read their minds but was too afraid to do so. Why? Isn't it fucking obvious?
"I can see you're all excited and I hope you're working on your stories!" Eric clapped his hands and looked into the unimpressed round.
Only Lyna, Tino and Lav gave warm welcomes, while Fil just roared whatever gibberish he came up with Eric couldn't bother to decipher.
"So to help you with your stories we'll be starting with the basics. The 3 act structure or as I'd like to use the 5 act structure. Does anyone know what this means?" Eric still held the tiniest bit of hope towards these wannabe authors that they knew what the basics of the basics yet absolute requirement of all stories was.
However, he was deeply disappointed, no one knew.
"Does this refer to the body? If so, teacher I have it all," Nadi pointed at herself. From her face, to her boobs and then cough, her back. Eric shook his head and pretended not to understand the implication.
"Ok, I'll-"
"It's this," suddenly Nol spoke up and had an air of elegance around him, "First act- this human became my teacher and I have to accept him, second act- this human turns out to be a vile shitstick I have to defeat, third act after many ordeals I manage to eradicate the personification of a shitpile off this world and become a hero."
When Nol's words echoed in the air, Eric's face blanked. Technically what Nol said wasn't wrong but what he said made Eric want to pick up the table and slap him against the ground for a few times.
You know, just to let him dig with his body his own grave 6ft deep. Eric quickly pushed these thoughts away as he praised Nol warmly, "Yes, that's about it. Every story has a beginning, a middle and an end. That's the basic and a three-act structure elaborates on it. Everyone take notes!"
Funnily, he didn't need to say it twice. These students really wanted to become authors so they were eager to learn what they could. Soak it up like a sponge. Muah- water was knowledge. Yes, sense and logic weren't present. Thank you.
"The 3-act-structure also has different turning points. 1st act beginning- that's where the Inciting Incident happens, basically what happens to the protagonist and sets the story. Then the 1st act turning point- Protagonist has to make a decision which ultimately forces him into his new world. The second act- the middle- It's a point where the protagonist comes to realise his (inner) flaw and the antagonist force and where things are starting to get worse towards the second turning point- the all-or-nothing where the protagonist is at the lowest point but then forces themselves to continue.
The third act is the climax and resolution. The climax is whatever finale your story builds on. This is simply explained and general, understood?" Eric seriously taught them and was met with serious reactions. For once, Eric was glad to see them being so studious.
"Any questions?"
"Teacher, what about the 5-act-structure then?" Tino asked, "Is the structure completely different then?"
"No, it's basically the same but just with more turning points, so to say it helps you navigate the second act, after all the second act- the middle of a story is always the biggest problem.
The five-act structure has Inciting Incident, second turning point, 3rd turning point, Midpoint, 4th turning point, climax and resolution. It's basically 3-act-structure drawn out. Act 1 consist of the inciting incident which is the first turning point in this case. Act 2 is the rising action with the second turning point which, in the 3-act-structure, is the 1st turning point. Act 3 has the 3rd, Midpoint, act 4- 4th turning point which is the second act in the 3-act structure, then finally act 5 with the climax. The 5-act structure helps you to plot better. Does this make sense?"
"Very much so," Lyna excitedly said. This was actually very helpful to all of them but Nol and Van refused to admit while Leon couldn't be bothered to say anything.
However, all hopes were crushed by a simpleton.
 "What are turning points? And acts? I don't understand," Fil started the train of 'me too' 'me too' 'me twice' 'me third' like Fuck!
If you don't understand then don't say it's helpful in the first place! A few veins wanted to pop on Eric's forehead but because his appearance and temper were always impeccable, Eric calmly smiled, "Ok, let's go over everything in detail and ask immediately if you don't understand."

As the most successful editor, beloved by the whole world, touted as the holy angel, Eric dared to offend everyone under heavens and hell!
Nothing new. Only problem is, well... this time... the person he offended is... this handsome, self-proclaimed Demon Lord in his office!

Demon Lord: My son cursed you, so I came to take you away.
Eric: Yeah, no thank you.
Yet the demon lord doesn't take a no.
Eric: Then why did you ask in the first place?
Demon Lord: Because I wanted to charm you.
Eric: You have no charm. Grow a pair of boobs, then come ba-

Next second, Eric finds himself in the Demon World. His punshiment? To make the aspiring demons proper authors. Only then can Eric escape. But the thing is, Eric has to teleport into each story to edit it!

The even bigger problem, the Demon Lord seems to follow him!

"Excuse me, good sir, why the hell are you the final boss in every story that I've to seduce? Please get out of here and do your duty as the Demon Lord! Stop making all the students write about you!"

Yet the biggest problem the whole universe ever had to face, all the demons... seem to want him!

"This is not a breeding ground. Thank you. Please kindly fuck off. My body is not for your lusting entertainment!!!"

Alright, let's do this...


Since so many philosophers showed up last chapter, I think I need to defend my story... again.

So...

Alexander basically assaulted Azami, regardless of what Azami has said to him, it was Alexander reckless behavior that led to this point. And of course, being the cunning man he is, Azami will not just forget about the matter, of course, he will use it against Alexander, if the girl wins, Azami gets a potential powerful soldier for free and if she lost, then central won't face any consequences. A good deal for him. 

As for Alexander, he is forced to accept this challenge since Azami has every right to kick him out for his assault, and his reward is that Azami will not use that against him in the future.

But...What bothers me the most is this, this word "Beta" some have been using this word in every situation that an MC will face, not in my story only, but in all of the other stories, it is either be a badass or you are a beta male.

Again...I will say it again. Alexander doesn't have the motivation to be at the top, he has been there once, he doesn't need to prove his abilities to anyone, that will come out naturally with time.


Another matter that bothers me. Ever since I revealed that his family deals with the underground stuff, comments like "Kill this one" or "Call his family..." Started popping out frequently. If you have read the story carefully, you will realize that Alexander spent most of his time when he ascended to power into getting his family out of illegal work and criminal activities. 


Now...why would someone who did such a thing call his family to destroy Totsuki or kill someone because of bloody cooking schemes. Azami literally does not harm a single student. And all he did to Alexander is pressing him into a Shokugeki.


Alexander reacts to physical things, for example, someone attacked a member of his family, then he will react. 

But to do a buster call because Azami wants to kick students who refuse to obey him, now that is ridiculous.


Regarding the comments about the story getting boring...Show me a story that you didn't feel as such when reading it. I can name countless ones, and most of them are good.

A story goes through 4 things 

Calm

build-up

climax

then calm again.


you can't keep hanging in the climax forever, especially when you go past 100 chapters, some things are bound to be boring but regardless, they are part of the story.

    "Why is she not picking up her calls..." he tried calling her again and again "what happen? She is always with her phone...where is she?". He hurried up and dialed her number again.
   "Oh Ava!" He said as he hurried out, he saw Daniel sleeping in the couch. "Danny, Danny" Daniel opened his eyes sharply. "what?", Daniel said looking at Climax.
     "Do you have Ava's number? Why am I even asking you that, I know you do", Climax asked. Daniel sat up "wait so you woke me up because you want Ava's number? Really Bro? What do you want with my babe's number?" Daniel asked.
    "I need to talk to her, I have been calling Anne and she is not picking up my calls". Climax said. Daniel burst into laughter "broooo, are you for real right now? I have known you for over 10years now and I don't think I have ever seen you bothering yourself like this for anyone". 
    Daniel said still laughing, "you don't even get close to any girl, I thought you were gay at some point", Daniel added.
   "Stop telling me my life story, give me Ava number" Climax said out. "Here it is" Daniel replied. "Whattt!!!!" Daniel said still laughing out.
    "Ava, hey how are you?", Climax said.
    "Who is this?" Ava asked. "It's Climax, I have been trying to call Anne and she isn't picking up my calls, is she okay?" He asked and could still hear Daniel laughing.
    "Oh I left her at home, maybe she is sleeping, she is on her time of the month and she is been acting crazy". Ava said chuckling. Climax sighed in relief, "so she is home right?" He asked.
   "Sure" Ava replied.
"Okay, thank you", Climax ended the call and walked back to his room, he came out after awhile all dressed. "you leaving?" Daniel asked.
   "Obviously" he replied. 
 Daniel could see Climax walking out of the apartment. "Oh wow" Daniel shake his head "well I have been there", he added.
   Climax got to the store, he looked around "where can I get....? I don't even know how girls periods works", he whispered to himself.
    He saw a teenager girl walking pass him. "Hey!" 
The girl looked back "oh damn, he is fineee", she thought. She moved near him "Hello", she replied blushing. "So errm!!!" He looked around shyly "you know what period means right?" He asked
    "What do you mean?" She asked confused.
"I didn't mean you don't...." Climax groaned "okay this is it...my girl is on her REDS and I don't know what to get her". Climax said looking away shyly.
    "Oh he have a girl" the girl whispered to herself, she picked out some stuffs for him. He looked into the shopping bag "this should do I guess", he said and looked at the girl "thank you, what's your name?" He asked.
    "Anne", she replied smiling.
    "Aww, that is my girl name too" Climax replied, the girl frowned and walked away. "Wait...Anne?" He said as she kept walking away. "Oh wow", he added.
    Sophia groaned out, she could feel sharp pain in her lower stomach, she tried standing up from the bed but she couldn't, "I hate the first day of this ughhh". She crawled out of bed. "Where am I even going?" She said.
    She lay on the ground flat "feels comfortable", she smiled as she could hear a knock on the door. "Come in", she said in a low voice. She could still hear the knock "oh great", she groaned softly.
    Climax opened the door, he saw Sophia laying on the ground. "Anne! Anne!!!! Are you okay?", He said as he carried her back to the bed, "what's wrong, why are you laying down there?" He asked worriedly.
    "I am fine, I am just having lots of pain right now". She said in a low voice. Climax looked at her, "are you cold". He said as he covered her legs.
   "No, I am not cold, I am not sick Climax". Sophia replied smiling. "I wish I have pain reliefs pills right now". She added.
   "RIGHT!" Climax jumped up and carried the shopping bag on the bed, "I got some stuffs for you, I don't know if the girl pick the right thing", Climax said as he brought out (Chicken nuggets, Sanitary napkin, pills and ice cream).
    "Wait, what girl?" Sophia asked
    "Oh, some girl at the store , I needed her help to pick out these stuffs for me" Climax replied. Sophia smiled "Awe" she said 
    "but who is she?" She thought.
    "She is a teenager girl I met at the store, asked her to help me out since she is a girl and I am new to this". Climax added. 
    "Wow, is he reading minds now?" She thought. "Thank you", she said. "did you eat already?". Climax asked.
    "Yes, Ava made toast before leaving", she said. "Don't talk too much alright? She said you should take the pills if you have pain so let's do that". Climax said.
    He gave her the pills, she swallowed it and gulped water with it. "I hate pills but I have to take it" she said. 
    "Just lay down alright?" Climax said as Sophia relaxed on the bed. "I want chicken", she said. Climax gave her some nuggets.
   "I will make you something warm, tea will do" Climax said as he walked to the kitchen, he glanced at Sophia who sat up to eat her chicken nugget. 
   "I don't know this is how it is to have period cramps", Climax said to himself.
   Sophia smiled as she eat, "he is amazing, so perfect". Sophia thought "how did he even know I have cramps?...Ava must have told him". She whispered to herself.
    She took her phone from the table and could see lots of missed calls from Climax, "ah, he called me already? Where was I? Ohh probably when I was in the rest room", she said as she chewed her chicken. "Hmm, so yummy".
    After a little while, Climax returned with her warm tea, "how do you feel?" He asked "how is the pain? Is the pills working?" He said looking at her
   "I am fine babe". She replied. Climax blushed, he gave Sophia the mug of warm tea, "take it gently", he said and watched her take the tea 
   "You know, my mom has never show me her cramps side before, I have never seen it" Climax said smiling. Sophia stopped taking the tea, "this is the first time you will ever talk about your family Maxy". Sophia replied. 
   "I got you Ice cream too", he said smiling to Sophia.
   "I hope one day, you will tell me about your family". Sophia said and continue drinking her tea. "It's working, I can't feel any pain". Sophia added. 
  "That is a good news, i am glad", Climax replied.
   "Thank you", Sophia said "I really appreciate it Maxy". 
   "Come on Anne, don't tell me thank you". He said blushing. Sophia smiled "you are so adorable". Sophia said.
    "Hey, I am not a puppy". Climax laughed out and could see Sophia smirking at him, "so who said adorable can only be use for a puppy?" Sophia said.
    "Okay, what about handsome?" She asked 
    "I don't know, every one say that...I don't want that either", Climax replied. 
    "You are fineeee!" Sophia said smiling widely. Climax yawns, "I hear that all the time, it sound different when you say it though but still NOOO!"  He replied.
    "Okay, I give up" Sophia said laughing softly.

Sophia has always been betrothed to Liam since she was 8. Time passed and Sophia who has always wanted to meet Liam met a strange guy at the library.

“I don’t know but something is telling me he’s the one ” Sophia said to her bestfriend Ava 

“Your parent must not know you are seeing a new person Soph” Ava told her “what are you going to do?”

Rising action: The lights went out for a few seconds, then it went back on again. Although she noticed something on the floor, near the table, it's a hand but there's something flowing out of it. She ordered her maid to lift up the table sheets, suddenly started screaming that she caught all of their attention. The girl turns around and saw a corpse of her second ex, she looked in terror as her ex died under the table, blood was flowing everywhere, a necklace, a few knives and a plate surrounded the corpse. A man behind the pillars was caught with a knife that has blood on it, she realized that it was her secret boyfriend. She tries to stop and told the crowd that someone was trying to frame him.

Climax: She desperately asks every guest if they were with her ex, she gathers every evidence, learn everyone's alibi but then, her fiance was shot from out of nowhere, her maid went missing, and both of her exes are accusing each other. She thinks it through, the only thing the girl ever heard that made sense is that her dead ex wants her back.

Falling action: The girl gathered all of her guests, and told them what happened. Her dead ex was attempting to talk to her and wants to give her a necklace, but the culprit stops him by turning off the lights, then buys time to kill him, and placed him under the table then the culprit forces her boyfriend to take the murder weapon. Her fiance was shot, at the same time her maid went missing, so she concluded that her maid is the culprit. By chance, they saw the maid attempting to kill the girl's boyfriend but failed.

Resolution: They arrested the maid, but the girl wants to ask why did she kill them. Her answer was they were breaking the girl's heart, hurting her, so she had no choice but to either kill them or ruin them, because she wanted to stop the girl's suffering. The party ended as the girl announced her relationship with the man and decides to continue it even further.

"... The story may not have a complex case, but it'll do. The set-up is the beginning, rising action is the part where the problem appears, climax is the highest point of tension as you solve the problem, falling action is the result of the climax, and the resolution is the end of the story. You managed to create a proper plot, good work."

"Does that mean--"

"Wait. It's true that you made a proper plot... But it's still short, the protagonist suddenly solved the case when it could've been anyone, the murder scene happened too early, the interaction between the characters is lacking, I don't feel the romance which is the only thing I liked and again, not a complex case. I'll give it a 3.8 out of 10 points."

"That's tough, but it's true."

"You got a lot of learning to do. By the way, what's the theme of your story?"

"Too much love will kill you."

"Acceptable. You need to make another story again, but this time... Horror and Humor will be your next genre in your story. I'll explain them later but for now, you have work to do."

Esther shows Asher a bookshelf with mixed books.

"Some people don't know how to put books back in its 'proper' places. So I need you to organize these books alphabetically in each section, if it doesn't belong there just put it on the desk."

"Sure, it shouldn't be that difficult."

"Now if you'll excuse me, I have to help Parker on the counter."

"Wait!"

"What?"

"...Thanks for helping me Esther, my knowledge on story writing will go even further because of you."

"Shh... Be quiet, this is a library." She said gently.

"Sorry."

Esther keeps her poker face but as she turns around, she faintly smiles and whispers, "You're welcome."

"So how did it go?" Parker asks.

Esther checks the books under the counter, "So far, so good. But as expected of a rookie, he has much to learn."

"So he's going to be here in a while."

"Yeah, a really long while."

"Esther..."

"Yes?"

"It's almost lunch break, where are you going to eat?"

"Same place as yesterday, their food is delicious."

"Can I have some of your lunch?"

"What? Again?"

"Yeah... The food you buy is kinda expensive but it's so good, and I forgot to cook at home."

She looks at Parker, "Something tells me you're doing this on purpose."

"I have no regrets."

"Fine. I'll share, but if you intentionally forgot your lunch again. I won't pity your starvation."

"I promise."

Three days ago

Esther just walked out of a shop but runs in to trouble when a large number of delinquents appeared in front of her.

"Boss that's her! That's the witch!" Said the delinquent.

"Her? Are you sure?" The boss asks.

"Yes! She scared the hell out of me!"

"Well why didn't you say so."

The boss smacked the delinquent to the ground, then he asked Esther, "Hey cutie, why don't we have some fun together?"

"No thanks, I'm not in to bears like you."

"I promise I won't bite. I can be gentle if you want."

"You're disgusting, more disgusting than that guy you smacked."

"Listen girl, I just did you a favor. So you must give me something in return, right?"

"Do me a favor? You did that yourself."

"LISTEN UP WOMAN! BE MINE RIGHT NOW, OR I'LL MAKE YOU!"

"What if I refuse?"

"You can't. Get her!"

His goons try to catch her... But in a blink of an eye, Esther knocked them out effortlessly. She disappeared in the boss' eyes until he heard her voice behind him.

She said, "When it comes to guys like you, I compare you to garbage. Disgusting, yet easy to take out."

She kicked him in the face by the heel, and he fell unconscious.

Esther walks away without sustaining any injuries, and she thought to herself, "When can I find a boy who will be perfect for me. I guess that must be impossible since there's no such thing as a 'perfect' boy."

She returns to the library and told everything that happened to Parker.

"Wow, you're pretty good at fighting. I never knew that side of you before." Parker commented.

"It's because you weren't there but then again, it would've been hard fighting while protecting a child."

"WHAT!?"

"Quiet, you're in a library."

Parker pouts and ignores her for a while. Esther on the other hand, is putting up new books on empty shelves.

Present day

Esther and Parker are having a lunch break in a popular café. Parker seems to be enjoying the expensive food Esther shared with her.

"By the way, where's Asher?" Parker asks.

"I don't know. He left after he finished his work, I assume he went back to his place for lunch as well."

"Hey, have you dated someone before."

"No, I'm not planning to."

"Why? All the guys rather seem to be having their eyes on you."

"I thought they were looking at you, you know... Looking down."

"Can you survive a day without making fun of me?"

"Alright, those guys who look at me... Aren't qualified for me. They're only after my looks, that's all."

"What kind of guy do you like anyway?"

"Well-mannered, appreciates me for who I am, definitely not a cheater, and can do household chores."

"Tough requirements, especially that last one. I don't know if there are guys like that."

Esther sips her tea carefully, "That's what I thought to myself as well. If no such person exists, might as well die a virgin."

"What!? Are you serious?" Parker almost choked on a cupcake.

"Yes. Why? Do you want to die a slut?"

"No. I mean, I have my opinion of what boy should I go out with too, but you take it way too seriously."

"I can never be too serious about this."

Then they overheard a conversation,

"Hey have you heard? Asher's in town again."

"What? Really? Yeah, some people saw him this morning, I heard he went to the library!"

"Yeah, I saw him going out without looking scared."

"Haha, not even the librarian's scary eyes can faze that hotness."

"Shush! She's right over there..."

Esther said, "Are they idiots? We already heard it."

"I guess Asher's popular around these parts. Since he's kinda handsome."

"Hmph. I guess..."

They continue to listen some more,

"I heard someone's going to confess to him today."

Surprised enough that Esther and Parker spit out their drinks.

"How to write stories like a real author?"

Before you're good at making stories, you were a beginner like Asher.

Asher Westergard is a teenage boy whose dreams of becoming an author are coming to life, but he struggles to write a story that can be enjoyed by readers.

By chance he met Esther Violette, the acting librarian (Warning: Do not mess with her) who gladly helped him and became his teacher.

"Will he be able to fullfil his dreams?"

"If you don't shut up I'll sew that mouth of yours, even if it means breaking the fourth wall." Esther's voice was heard.

"He's just telling the description." Asher's voice as well.

WE CAN ALWAYS blame the keyboard for not drawing much inspiration for words to naturally flow against the waiting page. Always the stutter, engaged in confusing thought before allowing itself to at last appear on the paper. "Writer's block" others refer.

Now the words were blinking, every line encased in black and white flashes, dialogues striking with shock. The entire computer monitor was frantically strobing, and after hearing the fading buzz of the computer's cooling fan, it occurred to me what it meant: the whole document unsaved.

In a tangent comparison, this is what frustrates me with stories as well, with the climax being the only build up to the apex of interest in the story, which all then is rendered useless because of the ending's dissatisfaction.

In this case, the climax was the flashing of the screen lights, the ending being the uncalled-for shutting down of the old computer, and the feeling was excruciating frustration.
The dissatisfaction, indeed.

Sure, endings are supposed to inflict a sort of rewarding pleasure but it sure is a disappointment; a reminder that as much fun as it is to prolong drama, it inevitably stops, either your choice or not at all. And this time, it was far from my decision, let alone my pleasure.

Sheer phantom silence remained in the halls of the office, following a faint trace of smoke. Oh, damn it! I really do need to get help repairing that old thing.

Next to it, a whole new collection of books (not mine), a library of classics from old mythology to Shakespearean to American legends to contemporaries and light-reads.

A few handfuls of textbooks from previous schools I've graduated from and columns of magazines I had forgotten about.

And then beside the shelves, out of the arrangement of rows, display a picture.

"Until a particular day that was twenty-seven thousand years ago, Transcendence entered the greatest civil war it had ever had in its three thousand years of history. The reason and events of the civil war were rather complicated and interesting story but since Darling doesn't have the patience, I won't go into detail."
The Infernal Queen suddenly gave up her 'aloof' act and switched back to her ambiguous address as a coquettish smile suffused the corners of her lips.
It was as though she had discovered her 'conscience'. An important civil war that she could have padded with hundreds of words had been skipped?
Shi Xiaobai was surprised when he heard that but he was not overjoyed. Instead, he looked inquisitively at the Infernal Queen. Why did he not believe that she would be in any way 'considerate'?
Indeed, a cunning smile flashed in the Infernal Queen's eyes. She said, "That's because the story that follows will be even more complicated."
Shi Xiaobai rolled his eyes and responded with silence as always. If he 'objected' toward the Infernal Queen's 'playfulness', it would only waste more time.
Indeed, the Infernal Queen seemed to be bound by the rules and could only pause for a moment. She continued, "The civil war that happened twenty-seven thousand years ago was the most important turning point for the Transcendents or even the entire Transcendental World. The civil war caused Transcendence to splinter."
"Following that, nearly half of the Transcendents left Transcendence collectively, moving to the south of Transcendence to establish a new country. As it was a distance away from the Transcendence Holy Tree, the new country was called D'ya and the residents of D'ya began calling themselves the D'yaeans!"
"There were always tiny conflicts between Transcendence and D'ya but both parties possessed the ability of the Transcendental Nine Transformations. Hence, no one acted out in full force, afraid that a third party might benefit from their internecine struggle. As such, more than a century passed until...an unprecedented disease swept through D'ya!"
The Infernal Queen chuckled at that point as she continued, "In the historical story that follows, Darling has already read it, right?"
Shi Xiaobai nodded when he heard the question. Back when he had asked the Infernal Queen about the Infernal King's Mandate, she had pointed out a history book for him. It had details that connected with what the Infernal Queen had just said.
When D'ya experienced an unprecedented infectious disease, Prince D'yaba was infected, he was quarantined in a sealed-off space with a large number of other infectees, which he called 'hell'.
With his strong will, D'yaba managed to survive 'hell' and later led the 'devil-like' infectees who had survived to establish the Infernal domain of the future.
And on the other side, D'yaji also began to establish the nascent state of the Celestial domain.
Later, when the Infernal King, D'yaba, realized that the sickness was conspired by his elder brother, D'yaji, he was immediately incensed.
Therefore, the first Infernal King and the Celestial King had an irreconcilable vendetta. Hence, all ruling Infernal Kings had the mandate of killing the ruling Celestial King!
That was the history written in the tiny book but it was a rather simple description of the events. It felt like quite a bit of details were missing.
"The scale of the infection gradually increased, with more than half of the people infected. Due to the dire circumstances, the uninfected citizens were forced to abandon the infected land and collectively move to the north. There, they established a new kingdom. And more than half the citizens that remained in the south died. However, there was a tiny portion who survived."
"The D'yaeans, who were infected, experienced various transformations to their bodies. They were originally green-skinned dwarves but not only did their skin turn black after the infection, they would be covered in wrinkles making them look extremely ugly. Numerous thorns and horns would grow around their body making them look like devils."
"Therefore, after D'yaba reestablished his kingdom to the west, calling it the country of devils that come from the burning hells, he renamed the D'yaeans to the 'Infernals', and called himself the Infernal King!"
The Infernal Queen chuckled and continued, "And on the other side, the D'yaeans that moved to the cold north did not escape the calamity. The infection spread once again and this time, it could not be stopped!"
"But strangely, the symptoms of the infected D'yaeans in the north were unlike the originally southern D'yaeans. Instead of having their skin turn black and ugly, it was the complete opposite. In the north, their green skin gradually turned white after the infection. Their short statures also grew taller and they began to become better looking. A pair of pure white wings grew on their backs, making them resemble the legendary angels."
"Hence, the northern D'yaeans considered the infection as a metamorphosis. They were willing to endure the pain that came from the infection and similarly, after more than half their people died, brand new D'yaeans were born."
"After hearing D'yaba term himself the 'Infernal King' and his establishment of the Infernal domain, D'yaji began terming himself the 'Celestial King'. He renamed the northern D'yaeans to the 'Celestials' and called his kingdom the 'Celestial domain'!"
A civil war that resulted in rifts among the Transcendents eventually split into the Transcendents and D'yaeans. Following that, an infection caused the D'yaeans to split again into the northern and southern factions. Due to the effects of the infected surroundings, the southern D'yaeans turned ugly like infernal devils before moving to the west, while the northern D'yaeans transformed into entities as beautiful as angels. Hence, the birth of the Infernals and Celestials!
This was the matter that the Infernal Queen had spent voluminous hundreds of words on depicting. In fact, it could have been finished in about a hundred words but unfortunately, the narration of a story is not an expository list of bullet points. There would always be some necessary or unnecessary details added that would pad the story making it bloat up.
But in short, twenty-seven thousand years ago, the three major factions—Transcendence, Infernal domain, and the Celestial domain entered its nascent establishment. And most shocking of all, the three races and three countries came from the same root. They were all the same weak green-skinned dwarves of the D'ya clan.
However, the Infernal Queen's story clearly did not end here. She continued, "The infection between the Celestials and Infernals had not only changed their bodies. It had also made them completely lose the favor of the Transcendence Holy Tree. They were no longer able to use the Transcendental Nine Transformations; hence, the Infernals and Celestials were no longer powerful enough to fight the Transcendents. They could only be deemed as subjects and hide the fact that they were actually D'yaeans as well. But due to the enmity between the first Infernal King, D'yaba, and the first Celestial King, D'yaji, the Infernals and Celestials began a war that lasted two centuries until the third Celestial King that was inclined toward peace used his Will of the King to forcefully retreat and surrender his troops. He signed a submissive one-sided deed with the Infernal domain that had the unfair clause of the Celestials being isolated forever. Furthermore, with Transcendence intervening, the war between the Infernals and Celestials finally came to an end. The Transcendental World finally returned to the peaceful situation of Transcendence ruling over all.
Twenty-seven thousand years ago, the Transcendents, who were favored by the Transcendence Holy Tree, were still the strongest race in the Transcendental World!
The Infernal Queen continued, "But after thousands of years passed, with the Celestial domain isolating itself, it weakened the stage on which history unfolded. As for the Transcendence Holy Tree, it gradually weakened over the millennia."
"The Transcendents' Transcendence King also weakened from a warrior with the seventh transformation to the sixth or fifth transformation...until the Infernal King's strength gradually exceeded the Transcendence King's! The Infernal King that could not bear the boredom began committing 'atrocities' in the world."
"However, he did not dare offend Transcendence; hence, there was no war between the two races. However, it also gave rise to 'Bravehearts' that were determined to slay the Infernal King! So, the Transcendental World became one in which the Celestial domain had hidden away, the Infernal domain gradually becoming stronger by the day, and Transcendence weakening by the day. As such, another seven thousand years passed until a day twenty thousand years ago..."
Shi Xiaobai was astonished when he heard that. "Seven thousand years passed just like that"?
Although it had only proceeded to a point twenty thousand years ago, it undoubtedly made Shi Xiaobai feel excited.
Heavens knew that the story of the Infernal Queen was as long and ugly as a foot-binding cloth. The crux of the issue was that she had been laying the foundations of the background story without reaching the interesting climax. How could anyone endure that?
However, Shi Xiaobai knew that in common story narration, a story required a cause and development before it could reach a climax. Expounding the boring details was a necessary process for the final excitement.
However, as a listener or a reader, one is unable to understand the difficulties of a narrator. They only have one thought, that the laying of foundations isn't as nice as the climax! Laying of foundations is boring filler! Laying the foundations is just padding the story!
After one round of climax and into the next bout of foundation laying, one would even suspect if the narrator had changed. Why was the difference in excitement so huge? But in fact, it was not the narrator's problem but the problem lied in the story itself!
The little bitch that was the Infernal Queen loved foreplay! She kept dragging out the climax for the listener (readers)!
Well, women come in all shapes and sizes. It was not as though no woman likes to have sufficient foreplay before climaxing. The Infernal Queen was just one person that went to the extremes.
However, the story had finally been pushed forward seven thousand years! It was also proceeding to another stage in the foreplay, just like moving from the top to the bottom.


A world filled with heroes with superpowers. A world attacked by calamity fiends. A modern world filled with wonders and dangers.

Shi Xiaobai, a child from normal Earth, walked into such a world, proclaiming to be its king. But at the first signs of danger, he is forced to make a choice, one which he cannot refuse for time would repeat, making him face the choice again.

He is not humble nor is he modest, but neither is he delusional. Yet, the Absolute Choice seems to make fun of him. Will the joke be on him or will he laugh at his opponents? There will be many watching his escapades, and there will be some joining him in his adventures.

To see through the world and to grasp its truth, that is the destiny of the King.
