There’s this thing in the psychiatric industry called “Attachment Theory” that subscribes to the idea that children intrinsically gain what they need from their essential caregivers (usually biological) during key developmental stages. When a child lacks such a thing, they have the potential to showcase a variety of behaviors directly related to the presence or absence of a caregiver. Oftentimes, these behaviors are rooted in a belief concerning one’s own value/worth, whether or not they feel like they’re someone who is wanted and seen for who they are, treated as a priority. So, perhaps the difference between a person who cares about the absence of such a person compared to a person who doesn’t care lies in this Attachment Theory, and whether or not they feel attuned to the people around them stems from a root cause implanted at the beginning stages of their life. They say “the body keeps the score”, even when our minds and emotions remain unaware of it.
It was his opportunity to grow stronger than anyone. In other people's cases, time stopping had little significance if they had no time to train due to the dangers looming in here. However, with his legacy, he can grow through these dangers. He could become strong and explore the mysteries of the world. Most importantly, he could find out what happened to his father.

Yeah, I think it’s difficult to write without making it come across as needlessly drawn out and annoying. Beating a dead horse…not my thing. So yeah, I agree with all the comments for sure, but I think the root cause is less about the topic and more about the execution; after all, in order to remain effectively on top of their game, a writer’s toolbox needs to constantly be updated and upgraded. And when handled with a lack of knowledge, authors that risk carrying out a tired, poorly executed emotional+behavioral plot line will end up nurturing a fertile ground for clichés and soapbox narrative then relying too heavily on them. They sacrifice effectiveness and limit the potential impact on the reader, which is the issue here. Why should we care that so-and-so MC is going thousands of chapters chasing and agonizing over something that feels redundant to the reader? Why does it feel redundant and annoying? For me, the answer is not found in the dead horse topic but in the mindset, intentions, and capabilities of the creators.

feckless..
Hazel would have a better impression of their team leader if he didn't keep stealing glances at the girls' bodies. Everyone was aware of it, but he didn't do anything more, so they let him off the hook; for this reason and him being one of Erin's henchmen, they still respected him in the camp. She decided to let it go since he was just a man being a man.

"Fortunately, however, this is not a light novel." Bai Zemin shrugged and jumped down from the ice wagon with a single leap.

Haha! Funny you mention this—I’d already been distracted by the fact that my previous comment used some “outdated” prices as examples, from around Y2K, except for the $10/hr wage and such lol. I’d even hesitated for a moment to be like, should I change up the numbers? ‘Nah’, I thought, ‘keep it simple, stupid. No one cares. And no one wants to read an essay, let alone a spitballed one like this’. And, well, my essay had already gone over the assignment’s limit lol. (And it’s day 3 with 0 sleep). But that’s the thing. Authors are different...y’all flesh out all of these things and more. And much of it isn’t in-your-face overtly noticeable in-story. For example, if a traditional fantasy novel is 120,000 words…then the author has 500,000+ words of backstory and details that usually becomes, in-story, like a meandering breadcrumb trail. Not dumped all at once. Instead, it’s scattered. It hides. It guides. Reveals and surprises. Learns to describe instead of state. Formed in such a way to connect and interact, ultimately to reach ‘n effect, the reader’s emotions, and thus their heart. Siiiigh. I vomited another rant. Over and out.
A/N: This was the 90s and so 1000 US dollars at that time would be worth 1,856.76 dollars today, almost double the amount. To those who aren't aware, costs inflates over time. So you can buy things for a much 'lower' price in the past compared to today.

Harker can't help but feel hopeful about this one. Their personalities really clicked, as Xi Hua was not like the other rich girls he had met. They're both people that were not as they seem at first glance.

Uh huh, cuz he was a “Chatty Cathy” verbally narrating everything up until now 🙄 It’s more like his movements stopped in their tracks which brought about a still silence.
He picked them up to check them out, and the titles instantly made him fall silent.
