I thought the same way as well, since you know it'd be way too overpowered and not in line with Light's developed personality in my book. Plus, light isn't bored with life anymore so why would he become Kira? He'd probably give up the death note the moment he thinks it'll harm his family.

Don't forget Light is a really talented investigator (Plus with Advanced Tech), and the MC is more concerned about light joining the dark side.
