Idk if you want the answers for all questions, but I will give you a couple. First Azel, I was trying to hint at an over all hate for things perceived as "evil", derived from the death of her parents (murdered by gangsters) which I only left vague clues about. Looking back, I realize that I should have explored more of her character since she had such an important role in the end. Second, since I ended the book pretty suddenly, I wanted to leave a lot of open ends so the story can really go the way you want. I even left a few things that could give someone the tools to argue that Azemo is still alive, but that is besides the point. The story was always going to end this way, but I did not take the best path to the end. This is mostly because I was really struggling to write and I wanted to make sure to at least put out the ending I envisioned when I could. Thank you for being such an attentive reader, I hope my ramblings were at least a little interesting :)

Azemo can only transform because of Reginald, who knows if Spiren has a similar companion :)
As the wound on my stomach was exposed, April first washed out the dirt with her water bottle before adding the painful alcohol. I probably would have shouted in pain if I could, but the only sounds that left my mouth were strange grunts.

hahaha
The tree was not nearby, but it was just so large that its shadow stretched far and wide. Of course we walked deeper into the shadow and stopped before the house that was most darkened by it.

Traveling was much easier with the inventory bags because they were quite light and we made fast headway through the wild forest.

It stuck out from the little bit of flesh that remained and was bent at an odd angle as if it was a cage. Trying to avoid thinking that I was looking at a dead body, I looked into the cage of bone and saw something moving.

Oooh
Finally my eyes focused in and floating down from the heavens was a simple looking bow. Simple looking at first, but as it descended towards me I could see hints of brilliance on its stark white body.

Azel smiled wearily before she answered and I noticed that she looked pretty when she was sad. What no, that is not what I noticed.

Huh I never thought about that
Backlit by the floating ball of fire, the zepsile was imposing. Steam puffed from its large nostrils and it made me feel like I was staring down an enormous alligator, waiting to pounce. The body was no less frightening and it looked more agile than an alligator, a large scaled tale and the limber body of a massive lizard.
