Legate is an "original" character. he is not from any film.

The officer who had spoke to William stared at the ensuing battle, seeing that even though they were almost matched in number, the two smaller bots that had joined William's tank were not quite as powerful. He then saw a discarded PIAT lying in a nearby trench. He hopped up and ran towards the rpg, grabbing the attention of his fellow Brits, who were amazed by this bravery. To dare try and intervene in this alien's war.

indeed, it was not a coincidence. It's a reference to Sha'a Gi from the 2003 Clone Wars cartoon that introduced General Grievous. The whole chapter is actually a reference to that portion of the cartoon.
Jedi Master Fre'Dell looked at the star charts. He was grateful that he managed to evacuate his base and his people before the Imperials had raided it. Now, they'd just show up in an empty cave and this group would continue to fight another day. He was also grateful for the young padawans he had managed to rescue so far. He turned to see three figures: a Wookie named Scoo, a purple skinned Twi'lek who was named Daf'Nee and an Arkanian named Vel, her bright orange outfit covering most of her body. He had just found Vel on the panet they had been on, where she'd been hiding amongst the populace, and he saved her from a Storm Trooper raid on her home. Out of all of the people in their convoy, she had to have been the most distraught.

Because the people those characters are based off of asked for those names/were alright with those names. If you're referring to A.M.Y., It is an acronym, but it was something I only came up with later in writing. It is one of the things I plan on fixing.
"Sir, consider it done!" The soldier named Scorcher replied, walking toward the intercom, "Alpha team: Celina, A.M.Y., and Wrench, report to the bridge!" He ordered on the loudspeaker. A few seconds later, they were at his side and they ran towards the lift that led to the hanger.

"His little outburst in reaction to seeing you has made him begin to question, I hope." He looks away, standing up and walking towards the door. "If I know him, though, he will begin to uncover the truth." The door slid open, and the camera reactivated as the door slid shut.

I'll try to answer the question as best as I can: It loses momentum due to the Vulture droids attacking the Destroyer. they knocked out the engines and prevent the ship from moving forward any longer while at the same time pelting it on the hull. the damage it is taking on the hull is adding a resisting force, causing it to slow down.
Unfortunately one of the Destroyers had their engines knocked out, and the ship began to lose momentum. Gideon watched as the other two left the damaged vessel behind and then as a large bolt struck the damaged Destroyer, securing the fate of the Imperials onboard as the ship split in two.

For a moment, she stayed quiet, but then finally spoke. "Desmonadon, sir, the raid, didn't survive. Everyone was killed. The Empire anticipated the attack." she reported. He sighed, then his eyes widened when he heard the explosion and the sounds of blaster fire. Desmonadon walked past the desk and Shiran, grabbing his DL-44 pistol and rushing out of his office. Shiran followed him, trying to catch up to Desmonadon. She pulled out her Hunter V carbine and ran through the hall. Both lost their balance when the ship tilted slightly.
