I guess Aurora is sort of like to a prophecy that link her to the beast as his mate or imprint. Perhaps, her not ever seeing mother is not a human at all, and something that screams power and deadly secrets - has to do with unusual look. That's I guess could be the reason why she was kept locked at her place. It was mentioned that she doesn't look likr her father, which got me thinking that her father isn't her real father. He was just someone who took the initiative to protect her, and claimed that she was a love child, insitead of going further with her real story.
