Another shadow appeared outside the tent. Amir stood up, knowing exactly who it was. The captain came in, a smile on his lips as he proved Jacob’s claims wrong. Amir threw up a brow, so he was not angry, interesting. They bowed as he waved them to be comfortable. He was wearing a white tonic and a brown coat over it. His belt was decorated with a few daggers and his golden handled sword. His cape was also forest green, matching the color of his eyes. The complexion of the outwear made Amir think if there was a celebration coming up.

Logan Seltar was a funny man, he had to give him that. And although Amir was not fond of Elwairians perhaps he’d learn to enjoy his captain’s company.

It was indeed Amir’s unlucky day. He was assigned to the meeting hall in the depths of the council as the king’s advisors and court fought their way for more power. He had to stand there, and make sure nothing happened. As if something ever did happen. The people close to the king never really engaged in violence; their best weapon was their strategies. And strategies were not things which could be stopped by neither Amir’s nor anyone else’s sword. He supposed king Edward also knew that and had assigned guards to the meeting anyways.

But the problem, was that today, no one was in the gardens. A prince be damned, even young lords and ladies had all gone to see Serrina recite her blessings to the king.

“Changing into something other than her robe.” Serrina rolled her eyes at that, and she could almost see the clear image of Azriel doing the same as a response to Logan.

Slowly – probably after being questioned by her personal guards about why he was even here – Logan opened the huge wooden doors and slid his head to look inside the room, a smirk on his face. “Good morning princess” she ignored his playful tone and did not answer him. In a matter of seconds, he was on the nearest couch right beside her bed.

“Where are we going?” she asked when her breath finally let her. “Back to the tower, at least until we find a better place.” No, she did not want to go back at the tower, but she did not show her protest. For now it was better to follow his lead, until she made plans of her own. “And what if they catch us there?” she asked, he smiled. “Do you really think so little of your kind?” Her kind? Did he mean the healers? He probably did. “The soldiers of the new king will carry his orders, but the Star Spire is more than just a tower. There are towns and villages on its borders full of people who will protect what they consider holy. Lucky you, the healers are exactly that.” She stilled. He was right and Asterin knew it, but unlike what she had imagined his words had not been “I will protect you.” Or “I will save you.”

Following those words, everyone within the room raised their glasses to the young master, who was filled with pride; his heart beating fast as everyone within the hall was looking at him with admiration in their faces. It was only when he thought about Xu Min for a moment that the feeling turned slightly sour as he knew that, that servant boy was indeed more talented than him.
