Rushed? Not really. It was stated multiple times he was close to the battlefield. It's nothing strange for a powerful Jedi Master to Barely feel his movements and send his Padawan to investigate. It would be more strange if they felt nothing. this is a universe where everything is connected by the Force, not one piece where you can do anything and keep it a secret. as for too many characters. I don't know what to say. How can I write a galaxy-wide story with only 4 characters? The galaxy doesn't revolve around the MC, other things are going on. Not like I'm giving POV of something that's not directly related to the MC. If a Jedi just shows up with no warning it would be ridiculous. Even in the Star Wars movies, the POV changes to see what the Villans are doing.

This is so stupid...you have your Zubat practice one ghost type move in a match where a third of the pokemon are normal type?
In addition, Alex already has a plan on how he can win it. He only had Zubat improve his speed and the two moves, Shadow Ball and Protect, for a hit and run tactic. Zubat has terrific stats (total: 245) in the game, as well as in this world. So Alex has to try to hide this weakness as well as possible and to use his strengths. Zubat's best stat is Speed at 55. Even that is insufficient. Rattata, Spearow is faster and Ekans is just as fast as Zubat but has a strong attack stat at 60. If Alex wants to defeat Maria, Zubat must not let Maria's Ekans hit him. The only advantage Zubat has is that he can fly. Spearow can also fly but Alex doesn't think that he can be defeated by any other rookie than Maria. So the best strategy Alex came up with was a hit and run tactic with a Protcet in an emergency.
