The entire weapon glowed red as he got into the right stance to activate << Rage Spike >>. He lunged forward, covering the few meters between him and the mob in an instant, and brought his weapon up in a violent vertical strike, which sent the wolf up in the air, a red gash appearing on it's body. Before it could land, Drifter had already stabbed it once again, resulting in a cloud of polygons.

While walking, Drifter equipped the short sword. Suddenly, the weapon appeared in his hands, causing him to stop as he almost let it fall. He wasn't sure what he had expected - maybe for it to feel like a foam sword. It was the very opposite of that. To start with, it was heavy. He could lift it with one hand relatively easily, but just the thought of swinging it already left him tired. It also looked very sharp. His inner psychopath urged him to stab something with it.

It was all unlocked Haki at the moment of the start of the mission. Back then, Ryoto didn't have Observation Haki and unlocked it only after being in Bleach verse.
I didn't get an answer, so I immediately activated my Observation Haki to feel Masaru. I didn't want to trust my Reiatsu reading right now, as using Bankai for the first time can be taxing on the body and spirit alike. It can also raise your Reiatsu a lot but drain it at high speed as well, so Haki was my best bet, and I was right to worry. Something was wrong.

They were safe for now, but that was one more reason to become stronger and fast at that. He was glad that he listened to Aizen and went along with the plan to blame Urahara for the Visard incident. That way, Yoruichi would help him and would be forced into the living world, away from his father. Akio would apologize to them at a later date when he would deal with Ryoto, but at the moment, he was content with them just being safe.

It's Spider, man references. In the comics, the "Clone Saga" is very infamous for being drawn out and there were a few times when we as a reader didn't know if we are following the real Peter Parker or gis clone to the point that we believed that a real Peter was killed.
I don't want to have the same clone problem as Peter did.

I don't know if I have already written it or if it will be mentioned in future chapters, but basically Akio has hidden it from Ryoto because, for one, he can't trust himself as he have learned because of Aizen. He just doesn't want to risk his plan being discovered. And two, he knows that Ryoto overwork himself in the last few weeks, so he wants to relieve his dad from more stress while creating a safety net of sort. Also, to be fair, how could Ryoto know that Akio created a means to travel to the Quincy dimension when neither Urahara nor Mayuri discovered it in anime. I would also imagine that all of Akio's research would be written in code for extra safety measures.
It was time to enter unknown dimension.
