He carried the puppet on his back because it was his "Only weapon." It's like having a sword on its scabbard, while keeping it in his inventory is okay the draw time for the weapon in this case the puppet is slow. So in his eyes carrying it on his back is quicker, but when he's at a town or at a safer region one can assume that the puppets are in the inventory.

The smell of death and carnage filled the air. "Send a messenger hawk to the General, we're too late." He told Rokhan.

Puppeteers are in the "Spellcaster" archetype for them, so most of the time people will refer to their archetype instead of the specific profession. For example a brawler and a swordsman might differ but they are both of the "Melee" or "Frontline" Archetype so the people would refer to them as such.

Tarik switched between the red glow of his natural aura to the blue hue of the [Flowing Cloud Sword Technique]. Only glowing red whenever he used a Markluzian inspired slash. His style revolved around speed and precision while Garnesh was a swordsman that focused on power and balance. Two differing styles working together against a common enemy, if they got along with each other then they would be a captain's dream.
