I had narrowed my first choice down to some of the less complex but still powerful cursed techniques since I wanted to be able to get through plenty of levels quickly so that I can have something to lean back on in case of trouble. The two techniques I was considering were Granite Blast and Cleave/Dismantle. I was considering both of these techniques as my first due to their relative simplicity while still having plenty of lethality to them. I liked Granite Blast due to its very basic nature as a blast of cursed energy, it would basically be my training wheels before moving on to more complex techniques.
