In this world, it is widely held that every living being is born with an accompanying spirit. These spirits possess a far longer lifespan in comparison to the beings they are bound to. Among them, there are benevolent spirits and malevolent ones. The influence of the crimson moon's madness serves to amplify the control these spirits exert over their host's body, progressively eroding one's sanity and transforming them into monstrous entities. Their flesh begins to deteriorate as corruption takes hold, consuming them from within. It's like a battle against themself. Since a living being, especially a human have their inner desires deep down burried in their hearts. Also this might a bit spoiler, but the madness would also affect non-human species. For a example, those from Canine and Feline tribes. It would forces them into berserk mode and run rampant following their instinct. We haven't meet them yet since they are already mastered in disguise as a human. Those affected by the madness still have a chance to recover. It just take some time until the night is over.
