Amusement Park
The place was overrun by moss, overgrown grass and vegetation, nature having stacked back its claim on the venue. Yet, this particular part of Amusement Mill had his interest, because he heard, back then, the place used to be a thriving amusement park before the Joker and Riddler made a mess of the thing. Something concerning a gas explosion, which resulted in the place being quarantined and closed down for a long time, causing the amusement park to lose money; and then, this event was followed by a bombing, which had destroyed the Ferry wheel, causing untold amounts of irreparable damages.

It did. Still, people used to refer to anime as 'silly Japanese cartoons'. Even in the early 2010s. I know that because it was what I was told when I was a kid watching things like Gurren Lagan.
It was 2011, and Anime maybe wasn't as mainstream as it was in his original world. He forgot that it didn't used to be until recently, and before, when the subject of watching anime was brought up, people tended to ridicule and make fun of fans for watching silly Japanese 'cartoons' that were for kids.

Even after Dragon Ball, People still called them cartoon even back then. Not anime. I remember saying a post about a New York Times's article in the 90s saying that some 'Japanese cartoon' are making their youth more violent.

They were all fighting for survival. In a fight with the fate of the entire world and the entirety of the star system as they know it in the balance. A fight which saw every hero, villain and rogue, whether major or minor ones – ally themselves to defend and fight against V, the harbinger of End.
