LOL. Glad you like it!
"Miss Francesca Garner?" asked a formal lady. "My name is Ronda Williams, with the law firm Jenkins and Crown."
Fantasy · La_Prelooker
It's got more to do with wiritng. ;D
"Straight to business, then," he said. He sat at the head of the table, rested both hands on the binder before him and glanced down at it. "Tell me, Miss Garner, did your late mother ever tell you about Miss Grace Blotter?" he asked softly, looking up at me.

Aboslutely agree with everything. But Victorian... oh, even the name spells haunted ;D
Then I saw it: the place this woman I'd never gotten to meet had left me. I needed to pull over the shoulder to fight back a fit of laughter and tears. Because it was a three-story Victorian that looked like it'd been just built. It stood past the tall iron gates in the middle of a gorgeous garden, surrounded by woods on three sides, hardly a thousand feet away from the Quabbin.
Fantasy · La_Prelooker
I think that's on the eye of the beholder. Maybe, in a few chapters from now, anyone meeting her for the first time thinks she totally lost it. ;D

Oh, no, you still don't know the Blotters. They would never do something like that. LOL
It altered my whole vision of the world, of life and death, of anything I'd believed so far.
Fantasy · La_Prelooker
Did you get who I'm talking about? Changed the show's story, but it's easy to guess.
Now I knew where the worst Youtubers had learned all their stupid clichés.
Fantasy · La_Prelooker
Oh, I frigging love them. Not all of them, but I do follow a few Youtubers and two TV shows with religious devotion. That's why I was able to write this story!
I'd noticed that YouTube ghost hunters talked a lot about a team called Haunters, like they were the grandfathers of paranormal investigation, even over the Warrens and Hans Holzer. A quick search taught me that even though they hadn't been among the pioneers of that particular TV niche, they already had nine seasons and counting. And they were considered the best of the best.

Oh, I watched it back in the day! But I don't remember the plot, so I'm gonna take your word on that.
"We love Blotter Manor, but we wouldn't feel at home living here." Her flat tone struck me as odd. "You'll find out in your own time that this is a very special place. With a mind of its own, you may say. It's the house that decides who's welcome under its roof."
Fantasy · La_Prelooker
Yeah, it's like if they tell you to picture a haunted house, it's gotta be a Victorian! Nope, not turret. But there's a basement...

Right? It'll take a long time, but all this is eventually explained.
"Miss Blotter left you one of her family's houses, and a generous monthly allowance for as long as you reside there. If you ever decide to move out, the house will return to the Blotter family estate, you will lose any right to it, and the allowance will be terminated. The Foundation will cover all taxes, services and expenses of the property for you, as well as the housekeepers' salary and any and all repairs not derived from your use of the property."
Fantasy · La_Prelooker
That depends on who you ask. LOL
"Well, she did. And back in 2017, only weeks before passing, your mother told Miss Blotter how hard you were working to become an author. So she promised to help you, and she did, anonymously."
Fantasy · La_Prelooker
Oh, that's pretty much what all the first part of the story is about. Wait and see! ;D
But he came back to Blotter Manor. And he did it only to help me and an entity that had almost killed him.
Fantasy · La_Prelooker
All of a sudden, all your comments popped up! Sorry I didn't reply earlier! Yeah, well, when they give you a word limit, you gotta keep count.
Jeez. How many, already? Almost 170? I'm so screwed. Let's start over.
Fantasy · La_Prelooker
Me too, writing it! LOL
"Sure, right, it's dinner time. Sorry to keep you so late." I had no idea if ghosts ate ghostly food, relived memories of family dinners or what, but it seemed the polite thing to say.
Fantasy · La_Prelooker
Right? So much for spending her days writing!
First of all, I needed a bite. So I cooked my late lunch and sat down to google about ghosts.
Fantasy · La_Prelooker
Or is it? LOL No, seriously, I agree. The option being running for the hills!
"It's late, Blotter Manor," I said out loud. "Let's go to sleep, please."
Fantasy · La_Prelooker
Ha! Welcome to the club!!
On Monday, I took over the third-floor study and spent several hours there after Susan cleaned it, my laptop open to a blank page on the desk before me, my guitar on my lap and my eyes lost out the window, my mind a gross blank. I lost track of time, playing and singing in whispers, while my mind roamed free like I did out there since I'd gotten to the Manor.
