The lady smiled as she walked hand-in-hand with the kids walking through the busy street. Calista tried one place to another and, just like the first time, she was shunned. The restaurant owners may have used different excuses, but it was clear as the blue sky why she wasn't allowed to eat in any of those establishments — she looked poor.

"What's that? It's not even money," the boy asked. With little to no education, he only valued money and food. Money could get him food and shelter in the winter. Money was either gold or silver. But a sparkling stone was something he never heard of.

"These would be more than enough to feed you bread and milk for years. Of course, you can have meat as well. I planned to feed you good food, but you heard the restaurant owner," Calista explained.

Leo clenched his fists as he looked into the lady's eyes. "You said you have bread and milk and that you wanted to share them because there was a lot for you to finish. That's why we came with you. You promised to give them to us," the boy said in a low voice. He knew it wasn't the lady's responsibility to feed them, but he trusted her words.

"What do you mean by that?" Calista stopped and faced the boy. Everything felt new to her, but she was willing to try them all. That included getting shunned because of her clothes and listening to a homeless kid who was scolding her.

"Wow. You look amazing, your grace," Calista said, composed. She liked the way the duke put his outfit together, but wondered why he had to dress so well when they were going to town to go sightseeing.

"The lady's ready. She's waiting at the entrance. It is you, your grace, who took his time preparing," Coton replied. He expected the duke to get embarrassed, so when he didn't, he was disappointed.

"I thought we were going to visit the nearby town. It turns out you have somewhere else to be," Calista mumbled with a hint of disappointment in her voice. Her eyes drooped as she looked away from him.
