River almost felt an illusion that as his pain reduced, the strength of his body increased. But surely that was a mistake? How could self mutilation make him stronger? If cultivation were that easy, he would have reached the legendary Foundation realm already simply based on how he ran across the fields with cracked bones and bleeding feet.

Lex had spent a lot of time learning and reading over the years. As it happened, one of the longest running novels he'd read was called Ultimate King Emperor: All the Gods call me Daddy. Now, the book wasn't exactly peak literature, however Lex had to admit that it was quite educational in some ways.
