It started as dreams. This world of Supes and what not. That's all it ever was, dreams. It didn't affect my life as a regular Quirkless teenager who already had it hard enough. But one thing led to another, and it was then that I awakened my Quirk...the same abilities I'd witnessed Homelander use in my dreams. And after that, it only took almost dying to a Villain and kicking his ass for me to realise it. "I...love it...Oh, I fucking love it!" The stares, the cheers and the applaud. The people reaching out their hands for a being they couldn't even comprehend, much less touch. And the power...the power of being Number One, the strongest. I was stronger, smarter...better. I was Better!!! I thought I was normal. I thought I was regular. Little did I know I wasn't even born yet. "Sir, as the boy successful in taking down the Villain Seismurge and the soon to be Hero, don't you think it's right for those at home to who exactly will be fighting for the #1 Hero spot in the near future?" This whole fucking world...I'll do it the honour of being the one thing worth worshipping. "My Name...? Homelander." ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- A/N: I just want to make things clear from the start. If you're looking for a story where the MC is overpowered from the start, this isn't for you. MC has the powers of Homelander and sorry to tell you, but generally, Homelander doesn't scale the highest in the MHA verse. But that obviously doesn't mean he's weak. He gets most if not all of Homelander's capabilites in the first half of the first volume and has to train from there to reach All Might level. Additionally, the world isn't like generic MHA. It's something between MHA and The Boys. Not so gritty like the latter but nothing as cozy as the former. Therefore, despite the story going in the regular direction of MHA at the start, between the things I just mentioned and the MC's interference, things are changed very quickly from regular canon. Freedom is all I've ever asked. Having spent my whole life in a cold facility, having doctors poke and prod at me like I'm some sort of animal...well, I got sick of it. Not only was I something of a failure, having not lived up to the expectations of those around me and being nothing more than a regular 12 year old, but I didn't even get my own name. "Zero," They called me. I even had it tattooed on me. I mean, damn, excuse me for being a regular human. What did they expect? Superpowers or something? No, I wanted more. I wanted a change. "But this isn't exactly what I had in mind." When I said I wanted to be free, I didn't mean being the last human in a rotted world that looked as though it was flipped upside down. With close calls to death being an everyday thing, monsters lurking in every corner, me having to find out I wasn't so regular after all and more mysteries waiting for me out there, I swore I'd survive. Not only survive, but burn that whole facility to the ground. With all that being said, this place, whatever it was...I still preferred it over the facility. Growing up as Glades trash, Sick Mother and a bounty on my head for a gang I used to work for...yeah, life at the moment sucks. ... That's it. What are you expecting, a sudden change in my story? A System? A random superpower? Money that fell out of the sky? No, this was real life. Well...despite not getting anything crazy like a system, I did unlock something far greater. Something I've had all along that lay dormant inside me. The greatest superpower of all. Me. That's right. Me. Reed Bond. I had a hit out on me, so I chose to pull one last heist to set my mother up for life. A Suicide mission...but who knew it would be so FUN! This excitement, this adrenaline, why is it so addicting?! I feel like I can do anything. So...what's stopping me? That's right...nothing. So...I'll do it? The Hood? I'll use that asshole to make me rich. The Glades, slum of Starling City? I'll rule this hell like no other. And my mother? She'll live the greatest life she could only dream of. I'll do it all. With me...and my mind...this mind that can see...that can remember...that can copy. Feedback really does help, not just for motivation but to refine the story. Story starts in season 1 of The Arrow, when everyone still refers to the Arrow as "The Hood". No, the MC will not be transmigrated with knowledge of the show or anything like that. He literally just lives as a regular dude in the Glades with no knowledge. Oh, and no system. No harem either. Call it an AU if you want, but most, if not everything, will be going like the show, only changing once the MC comes into the story.
